Review: Website does not state parents can't ride with child during training which is an unsafe practice. No contract for service that stipulates no parents.

10/17/2013 I received a call at 9am from Delta Driving School for an opening for 10am training spot which I agreed to accept. I called them back to pay for the training session within 10 min...debit card purchase of $95. Trainer showed up about 10min late and I told him I was going to ride along. He said he had to call and ask. The person said no...something about the student only. I asked him to call back and I personally spoke with someone who claimed that parents are not allowed in the car while the child is in driver training as a matter of mandate from Driver Association. This person refused to refund all of my money back after I asked to ride along with the instructor because they would not allow me to ride along with my child. I explained that I rode with my other child at another facility and she said that was basically illegal and that it was common knowledge and that parents can't ride along and that is why I could not have a full refund ($95). I explained that no ride along was not on their website and it was not common knowledge that parents are not allowed to ride along which I would not have choosen them had it been on their website or in a written contract. My concern is the safety of my child against unknown pretitors which is number one for me keeping my children safe. I don't allow my children to be alone with any teacher ever! On another note: the by products of parents riding along is terminology that is used during the lesson so that I can reinforce the lessons taught.

2. Parent ride along ensure that a child cannot claim inappropriate actions/rape on the part of the instructor or vice verse

3. Her claim was the parent will make the child nerves; however, the parent will be doing 90% of the training thereafter...therefor it is here nor tthere

4. I contacted the Driving School Association of California legal person only to find that her(Delta person) statement was false. The desecration is up to the business.

In another conversation later in the day this person stated it doesn't matter they are not changing their policy. I explained that it needs to be clearly stated on the website or in a contract so that people can make informed decistions and before you claim that you will not give them a full refund. Very unhappy at her response.Desired Settlement: Website should clearly and properly display that parents are not allowed to ride along during training as per their preferred business practices/begin producing a contract (currently no contract given) stating clearly that parents are not allowed to ride along and they must accept acknowledge and accept the terms. Because I could not get a full response I was held hostage as they only wanted to partially refund. I also would like an apology from the person I spoke with as to the way she handled things and their policy clearly displayed.

It is our company policy, and our insurance company's policy that we cannot have persons other than the student holding a permit in the car at time of training. A parent signs an application at the DMV for minors stating that they approve of the student getting a drivers permit. State law mandates the permit be signed by a licensed instructor to validate that permit. I did not state that this policy was mandated by the Driver Association. The full refund was refused because an instructor showed up to take the student and if a student does not go there is a $50 stand-up fee charged. The instructor was late due to trouble locating the address given and gave the student his full 2-hour appointment from the time the lesson started. Our company takes every precaution to assure a students safety while they are with the instructor. Each instructor is licensed and investigated by the Department of Motor Vehicles before being issued that license. This includes a live scan fingerprint and DOT physical. Our company also requires drug testing for all instructors prior to being licensed. I regret that this customer is unhappy with our policy but we cannot allow customers to dictate how we run our company. Having been in the business of instructing students since 1983 we have found what works and what does not.
