Review: this is a bakery. I ordered a cake for my grandsons 10th birthday on dec 23rd 2015. I ordered chocolate icing in a yellow cake . with a specific picture to be added to the top of the cake. the picture was inedible. it was a piece of paper with icing around it. the chocolate tasted nothing like chocolate. it was too sweet and hadnot even a hint of chocolate taste. the cake was yellow and was gummy and tasteless.it was embarrassing to serve this mess to my family.Desired Settlement: I want my $55.00 back.

This letter is regarding the
complaint ID number [redacted]
I got your letter in the mail about this complaint. l am the owner of the bakery and also do cake
decorating. I take complaints very seriously and try to resolve them the best I can to make the
customer happy. I remember doing this cake and also taking the order from them. They
stopped in the store to order the cake. The customer saying she ordered the cake is not who
ordered it. Her son was with her and he ordered the cake. It was his son/her grandson that was
getting the cake, They did want a yellow batter cake with chocolate icing. They also wanted a
picture on the cake. We do use frosting sheets which is edible frosting paper that the picture is
printed on. Is mostly made out of a sugar. We use the same frosting sheets that the old Kribels
Bakery used. We took over about 15 months ago.
The chocolate icing we use is a buttercream choc fluff icing and it definitely tastes like chocolate.
Unfortunately not everyone is going like something you use or make. Everyone has different
tastes. Its like that with every product you make. Someone might like something at another
bakery but come to your bakery because they like the way you make something else. As far as
the yellow cake, it was not gummy or however she explains it. When we do sheet cakes we slice
them in half and put icing in the middle. When I sliced the cake it was perfectly fine, I didn't
observe anything unusual about the cake. It was the same as every other cake we make. We do
make our cakes moist. Maybe thats why she thought it was gummy. The kribels cakes were more
of a drier cake, which we got alot of complaints about when we used their cake recipe. We had
to switch recipes. since then we’ve had nothing about good reviews about our cakes.
The price of the cake was not $55.00 Dollars. The real price of cake was $37.99. 29.99 plus $8.00
dollars for frosting sheet. They purchased other baked goods in store while in the store and paid
for cake and baked goods that evening.
When she called, we asked her to bring cake in so we could see it and see whats wrong with it.
She said she couldn't cause they ate it and threw the rest away. We tried to explain to her that
the cake wasn't 55.00 dollars. We told her to bring the cake in so we could see if we can refund
some money back to her. She kept flipping out screaming so the conversation ended there. She
kept calling back and calling back and calling back screaming. We actually had to stop answering
the phones for a bit. She never came to the store after speaking to her on the phone. Honestly I
believe this was a case where someone wanted their money back even if the cake was good.
Believe it or not it happens all the time everywhere you go. She complained about every single
thing about the cake you can think of, Its usually only one thing. And she didn't even know what
she actually paid for the cake.
