We dispute the complaint that we “double dipped” and owe Ms*** and the campaign
she worked for $3,Here are the facts:
We never received a $3,payment from the
state party and, in fact, we
discounted an invoice to the campaign by $3,to account for the state party’s
donation to themSo we didn’t even “single dip” with this amount
The campaign was billed $10,for four direct mail pieces - $3,on
10/7/15, $3,on 10/21/15, and $4,on 10/27/
The campaign paid The Englehart Group $7,against these bills, leaving a
balance owed for printing and mailing of the direct mail pieces of $3,These
payments were $3,on 10/20/15, $3,on 10/22/15, and $1,on
10/28/
The *** *** *** *** agreed to donate $3,to the campaign
The *** *** *** *** paid its $3,campaign donation directly to
the printer that printed and mailed the direct mail pieces to cover the amounts explained
aboveThe donation was never handled by The Englehart GroupWe never handled
that moneyThis was confirmed in e-mails between The Englehart Group and
the state party on 11/16/and 11/17/
All of this was communicated clearly and succinctly to *** *** in two e-mails,
dated 12/23/and 12/31/
We are not sure where the other $of this complaint comes fromWe were only
aware of the dispute over the $3,donation, which was never handled by The
Englehart Group
We would additionally point out that The Englehart Group paid three bills out of pocket
on behalf of the campaign:
Consultation with *** *** $
Reprint of Palmcards $
Video Editing $
We are not requesting reimbursement for these costs and paid these for the campaign
as a goodwill gesture
Because there was no overpayment as was claimed in the complaint, we do not owe
*** *** or the campaign reimbursementThe complaint is invalid because the
actions we are accused of never took place
Please let us know if you have any questions and when this issue is resolved
Thank you so much
Best Regards,
Ray ***, Vice President

The emails Mr. [redacted] refers to are copied and pasted below, Mr. [redacted] wrote on 2 separate occasions that the state party paid the $3500.00. In his response to our complaint, he writes that "1. We didn't receive a $3500.00 payment from the party." and later writes "4. The [redacted] agreed to donate $3500.00...". I am in receipt of 2 notices of Payments-In-Kind, totaling $10,531.31. They are attached, and also reflected on the attached spreadsheet, along with all the other invoices presented and paid to the Englehart Group. Additionally, we did not ask The Englehart Group to consult with [redacted]. They did so of their own volition. If there were bills they chose to pay out of their pocket, again, it was a choice of theirs and we were unaware this happened. They had every opportunity to bill us or present, as required by Campaign Finance Law, a Payment-In-Kind receipt.

Good morning, [redacted]:Here's the information I think you need on the last mailing.1. Attached is our invoice to you at the time, totaling $4,683.35.2. You paid us $1,183.35 for this invoice. We received the payment on 10/28.3. The state party contributed the other $3,500.00 to cover the rest of the payment. Because it was going to be a double transfer, they just applied their contribution directly from one account of theirs to another - the money never passed through us. The contact at the state party (if you need paperwork confirming this contribution) is [redacted].org).4. Mailer pdf is attached.Final Quantities (per final invoices from printer/mailer): 2,000 on the Wife Mailing6,816 on the Get Out the Vote MailingHave a Merry Christmas!Best regards,Ray [redacted]Vice PresidentThe Englehart Group405 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 300Indianapolis, [redacted] 46204317-602-3620Please "like" The Englehart Group on Facebook and follow our exploits.
