Good morning.The [redacted] had provided a deposit for a home remodeling project, per a contract with our office, and materials were purchased for the project prior to Mr. [redacted]'s passing. While we were able to cancel the orders for those materials, the funds were not immediately returned to us (and...

there was are stocking fee for the custom materials), and payments for other projects were held up. At no time did we tell Mrs. [redacted] that a check had been written; we did indicate that we would work to get one to her as soon as funds were available, and that we would let her know when the check would be sent. We told her son that every time he called or stopped in. In mid May, we were assured that payment for a project was to be delivered to us by June 1, 2016. We told Mrs. [redacted] that once those funds cleared the bank, we would cut a check for her refund, and that we expected her check would be mailed to her on or about June 6, 2016. In fact, the funds had cleared the bank on June 3rd and a check was mailed to her that afternoon. Mrs. [redacted] and her son came into our office on Monday, June 6th and were very confrontational. They did not seem to believe us when they were told that the check had been mailed to them on the previous Friday. They cashed the check on June 7, 2016. Regards, Stephanie D.
