A 5 month delay in billing from Brite Smiles caused me to miss my FSA submission date for 2013. As a result, I'm required to pay out of pocket.
I just received a bill for an office visit on Nov. 19th, 2013. I'm shocked that it took 5 months to receive a bill for this visit. As a result, I have to pay out of pocket for the visit instead of submitting it to my FSA because the 2013 filing period ended in March. The reason my family pays for an FSA is to cover our out-of-pocket costs visits like this! But because Brite Smiles took 5 months to send me the bill, I can't file it under FSA and I have to pay out of pocket.

When I asked the billing representative at Brite Smiles why it took so long to send the bill she said they had a staffing change that contributed to a delay in the bill being sent. That is NOT acceptable. A "staffing change" delayed my bill by 5 months and caused me to pay $145 out of my pocket when I have an FSA that would have covered it? Unbelievable!

Needless to say, I'm going to tell all my friends and family to avoid Brite Smiles. If someone from Brite Smiles is willing to contact me and find a way to solve how I was wronged, I would be willing to reconsider. But every BriteSmiles employee I've talked to thus far has said "I'm sorry to hear that" without offering a solution. I'm appalled by the way Brite Smiles has treated me and the frivolousness of their billing department.
