Our client wanted a table built from lumber he provided. When the lumber was brought, more lumber was brought than for the table, and we were informed he wanted another piece built. The table was built and was satisfactory, but the other piece that he wanted was never verified, details confirmed, or time needed. During this time, contracts were signed for several large jobs. We are a custom wood working business, but signed contracts, with time restraints, do demand our focus, and are our priority. Our client did give us a picture, but details were never discussed, and because we are a custom shop, where we want satisfied customers, moving ahead without that would be very risky. I believe we should have pursued our client more, communicated the issues with the lumber he brought, and discussed the issues involved in doing it. When he came to pick up the piece we made, he informed us he didn't have room to take the remaining lumber with him, so we allowed it to remain here. We still do have the lumber here, and will keep it for him, but we really do not see that we are responsible to transport the lumber elsewhere. We have been very kind in storing it, but will not take responsibility transporting it. He is welcome to come and pick it up during normal business hours. We are not charging him for anything, nor do we owe him anything but an apology for our lack of communication. We regret the misunderstanding.

Denny's Woodcraft built and installed cabinets in our renovated kitchen. The cabinets are beautiful and we receive compliments on the kitchen each time we have guests visit. I could not be happier with Denny and his family for how they handled our job!

Dear consumers
I am writing in response to the resolution of my complaint proposed by Denny's Woodcraft. The owner of this business has blatantly misrepresented himself in this matter and has in fact lied about many the events surrounding this incident.
I have had two harvest tables built by this business. The first was beautiful and was very reasonably priced. In fact I paid more than was asked for because Denny told me he had lost money making it. I brought two types of wood to Denny's woodcraft for further work; black walnut for another harvest table and oak for a built in cabinet for my office. Plans were given for both projects at that time including pictures and dimensions for both projects. There was no discussion of contracts and I told Denny that I was not in a hurry but expected the projects to be completed in a timely manner. I had to call Denny several times to get the table completed and it was completed just before Christmas 11 months after the wood was dropped off. I finally told him that we needed it for a Christmas party. It was completed but there is glue showing on several of the joints and the cost was 5 times what the first table cost even with separately purchased chairs accounted for. I took it because I needed to get it in my house. I actually called Denny about some of the joints not fitting well and he suggested I cover it with wood glue. At that time there was extra black walnut wood that I was thinking of having cutting boards made from and Denny's son agreed to keep the wood for me. This is the wood he is talking about in his response NOT the oak. I asked Denny's son about the built ins at that time and due to the cost of the second table I asked him to get me an estimate before starting work. I have called Denny's woodworking several times since then attempting to get the work started as long s it was not too expensive. I have talked to Denny's son and his wife but they have never called me back. Denny has made no attempt to contact me at any time regarding this matter. All he ever asked for as far as plans were pictures and dimensions which I provided and I would have signed a contract and made a down payment had that been requested. I finally had the work done in Cincinnati with purchased wood and I asked Denny simply to return my wood and since I live so far away he could he please bring it to my property near French Lick as it is well out of my way to go by his workshop now. I have talked to his Wife and son again but Denny has never called me once.
I see now that he will not resolve his incompetence and my inconvenience by honoring even this simple request. I will come and pick up my wood, ALL OF IT, because that is my only recourse at this time.
However I want all consumers to know about my story so that they are not taken in by this business. There are better and more reputable craftsmen in Louisville and Cincinnati as I have since found out. I hope this helps others to make the correct decisions.
