Our competition Team "DOT" (Dancers on Tour) has a Non for Profit account that our families contribute to during the year, either with their own money or money raised through fundraising (reason behind it being a non for profit)This money is
used for the purpose of paying competition entry fees for their childrenSince we have over competition students we have to pay upfront through one check to the competitions that we attend and that money comes out of the non for profit accountsEach family has a statement sheet so they can track their moneyAt the beginning of each season we have our parents sign a contract in the contract it stated in bold letters "ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS" and we also go over this and why in our meetings, and then each family signs their contractThis particular customer's child ( which did sign a contract the season prior) did make team but did not make the team the parents wanted, so they informed us they will not be coming back to our studio because of this(We have tryouts every year for all students) because they quit they forfeit their balance in their account which will be transferred into a Scholarship account that will be used to help less fortunate students afford competition feesOur rules have been the same for yearsIf a student continues the following year on the team their balance is transferred year to yearAlso this particular customer did put personal checks into their account at the beginning of the year and all the entries afterwards where through fundraisingWe have a policy of First in First out for the accounts, so their checks that were put in at the beginning of the 2014-season was used for the first competitionsThe later entries were all fundraising and definitely cannot be given back as a refund
