Dental Care of Stamford Reviews (2)

the patient was seen by our associate dentist ** *** and here is his response:
I wanted to update you about the situation with this patient *** ***He came in with broken tooth #that needed a crown and coreIntra-oral photos were taken and we
reviewed everything with him before hand
He signed the financial agreement and even stated he wanted to do more work on several other teeth but would start with this tooth #first
He knew he was out of network and seemed to be ok with thatHe just needed to scale back and do one tooth at a time for financial reasons
When I delivered his crown last week he told me he would regrettably have to switch offices to go in network because he could not afford our feesHe requested his records today and *** told him he needed to pay off the remaining balance before his records could be released to himThis may have upset him and caused him to file the complaint
I am surprised because every interaction I have had with him has been amicable in the office
In the complaint he states we "tricked" him into getting his crown done, but I think we were very understanding with him and *** and I spent a lot of time with him during the NPA going over his treatment and *** was very good at breaking down the FA for him
One more thing, the patient does get confused easilyAt one point he thought I had worked on the wrong tooth and several times I needed to explain to him that I was in fact working on the correct tooth
He also came back this week saying the crown "shattered" his tooth on top (#5)I took intra-oral photos and showed him there was no damage to his top tooth #5, but it did have large decay and was a tooth we had already treatment planned for a crownHe seemed ok and said he understood
If there is anything I can do now to handle the patient or the complaint, please let me know
Thanks, ***
Clearly there was no trickery or intent to deceive him in any wayin fact we are always very up front with patientswe listen to them, we use a camera that goes in their mouth so they can see the problem
There was no pressureHe came to the office with a broken tooth and wanted to get it fixed
We did not seek him outwe did not rush himIn fact we accommodated his request
We explained the fees and even had him sign a copy of the agreement of what he had to pay and an ESTIMATE of what the insurance MAY cover since we cannot guarantee what any insurance company MIGHT PAY
So far as I know at this point the insurance has not paid yet and he will have to pay any remaining balance when we do receive the insurance payment
As far as this complaint is concerned, it is completely unreasonable and unfounded and completely disputed
In so far as his records we will provide them to him at any time

Review: I was manipulated into allowing Dental Care of Stamford to put a crown on one of my teethI told them that they were not a provider for my Dental InsuranceWhen they told me the cost was twenty-six hundred dollars, I told them noThen, they offered me a discount and the cost would be twenty-one hundredThey asked for six hundred dollars, knowing that my insurance would not cover the full amountI was asked as to what was important to me as a ploy to get me to agree to their chargesThis is manipulation and unethicalMy insurance paid for the cleaningThen, I received a bill for I had paid them dollarsBut I noticed that they added fees which I was not made aware of v.g"comprehensive Oral evaluation = 68; core buildup = 430.; I called my dental insurance and they indicated they paid for bitewingsBut they ALSO CHARGED ME AN ADDITIONAL FOR PANORAMIC FILMS...I.EHIGH WAY ROBBERY AND UNDERSTANDABLE FOR A DENTIST OFFICE WHOSE TOP PRIORITY IS NOT THE PATIENT.Desired Settlement: The initial agreement to cap one tooth for minus the minus what the Insurance company is still processingThe for the bite wings is fine but not the comprehensive oral evaluation nor the parnoramic film nor the core buildupIf the insurance wont pay for the cleaning, I willpay that in addition to the total billThe detailed bill and its seeming urgency for money is quite evidentI wont rate this dental business more than [redacted]
