Dental Health Associates, PA Reviews (3)

I would like to let people know that I had an amazing experience at Dental Health Associates in Lumberton, NJ. The Dentist was Dr. Elisha and his extremely helpful, kind and courteous assistant who's name is Stacy. They made me feel comfortable since I've a bad experience 2 months ago at that office with a different assistant that was there with the Dr. I was not going to return to that office again, but after this amazing experience and the amount of respect that I received this time, I will definitely recommend this office to others. I cannot thank them enough!

Review: I had a couple complaints regarding the office staff. I call corporate an I was able to explain and get the help I needed. I know I was agervated and upset at the time because this is important to me, my son medically needs braces. I felt like they were taking their time in starting the process and his teeth are bad.. on many occasions I was told the insurance had the paper work for approval and the dentist was just waiting for a response, when I called the insurances both of them told me that they had no pending paper work from the dentist for my son. then it was in the chart that he needed another appointment and I was never told unitll I called 3 weeks later to see what the hold up was for him to get his braces. long story short eveything is done and approved through both insurances and the day we go to get our braces we were told by the manager that the orthodontist does not feel comfortable doing my sons braces because a rumor was started that after his braces I was going to go else where for services. my thing is how can you deny a child medical treatment regardless of a parent. this is medically necessary he is getting made fun of at school. and now we would have to start the entire process all over with another office and that would be another 5-6 mths. if need be I wont go to the office his dad can take him but this makes no sense everything is don and approved now he wants me to go elsewhere.. this is not fair to my son and medically needs to be done asap.Desired Settlement: I want them to finish what they started and put his braces on. I can have his father take him and to all his appointments from here on out I just want this done now .

Review: My complaint involves many categories. I urgently needed a temporary filling to replace a filling missing between my two front teeth. Since I had not been eligible for dental insurance through my health care provider, [redacted] until the affordable care act made it possible, I immediately made an appointment because I had an urgent problem that I knew was totally covered by my new dental insurance plan. One of their dentists wrote up a "plan" that was almost $10,000, even though I knew that it was not covered by my plan yet. I again asked for the temporary filling and the also covered cleaning. They refused to do either until I agreed to pay half of $220 up front for the "surgical extraction" of a tooth so far in the back of my mouth, I didn't even know it was there. Since I live on a fixed income, it took 2 months to save up that amount. The tooth was extracted and I was told the only person who could replace that missing filling would not be back for 6 months. The appointments for the cleaning were cancelled by the dental office at least twice. So now, in addition to never getting the filling, or having my teeth cleaned, they have been billing me for the rest of the cost for that extraction, because I should have known it would not be covered even after they assured me they had checked with the insurer and my total cost share was one half of the amount. I complained to their office and I complained to delta dental. The office manager called berating me about what I owed and said she would call Delta Dental to set them straight because they told me my story was not unique for their business. I could not afford what they already made me pay and I certainly cannot absorb their error in telling me it was a covered service. The worse part is my front teeth are so separated and damaged now from the missing filling, I do not want to go out in public. The cleaning was forgotten about by Dental Health Associates as soon as I agreed to pay for that questionable extraction.Desired Settlement: I do not trust them to replace the missing filling or clean my teeth, now. I never agreed to pay the entire amount and if they say to you, what they said to me--I signed the treatment plan--I did not know I was agreeing to whatever suits their office. It will cost more to replace the damage to my smile than it would have if they had simply cleaned my teeth and replaced the lost filling as I requested. Their outrageous demand that I give them more money, for what I did not want or ask for, is something for which I cannot accept responsibility. I believe that they cater primarily to low-income and senior fixed income clients and they use pressure and fear tactics to make vulnerable people unsure about challenging their questionable billing and bullying tactics. They should be accountable for their own mistakes, instead of trying to force me into covering up their errors.
