THIS INSUREANCE SUCKS!!!
ABSOLUTELY HORRABLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST IN THIS COUNTRY! NEVER USED THE COMPANY EVER!

Dental Select is commiting fraud. We are opening a case with the Insurance Commisioner of Utah. They purposely don't process claims until after the deadline for submission then say that the claim was submitted late. We are taking all of our evidence straight to the state

If I could give 0 stars I would.

I am a Dental Select Gold member and took my daughter to my dentist, she is 4. She needed work done on a tooth and my dentist didnt feel comfortable because he doesnt usually work on children. Soooo I took her to a pediatric dentist that I love. Of course when scheduling an appointment as a new patient, the dentist office asks me for my insurance. I give them my insurance info, they call my insurance, they verify that I am covered and boom... I make my appointments for my daughter. They see her on the 10/8/2019 for an exam and again on 10/24/2019 for her procedure. All is well. Well it is not 1/14/2020 and come to find out that my insurance is covering nothing and I owe a bill of almost $1000.
I call dental select number and they are no help. They said it was my responsibility to know my plan. they said my dentist never called to verify my insurance which is a lie. Their notes said that I called on 10/7/2019 to make sure I was covered to go to this pediatric dentist. Why would I call? my dentist is the one that called. They say they take notes from their calls but I believe they are lying to cover their own mistakes. I was put on hold multiple times and not given any help by the so called shift lead Connie and also was not helped by another person named Nathaniel, which all he did was speak to Connie and tell me the same thing.
Dental Select was the one that gave my dentist the green light that I was covered when I really wasnt. They are at fault. My dentist would not have let me go through with the procedure if I was not covered and would have to pay out of pocket. I personally went to this pediatric dentist for 15 years and know the staff well. They have always been kind and on top of their jobs. But now I have issues when I get this insurance. Why would I pay for dental insurance just to go somewhere where I was not covered?! Dental select speaks to me as if I am incompetent when they are the one that were negligent. I will be cancelling this plan as soon as possible. I would rather go into a dental office with no insurance than go with dental select.

My dental provider and I both called to see if they were in network before proceeding with treatment and were both told they were (by 2 different Dental Select's employees). Several months after the treatment my provider told me that Dental Select did not pay out a claim that they were contractually obligated to pay based on being a in-network provider. Furthermore, when I called Dental Select to get it rectified, the customer service rep was condescending and unhelpful. It was clear from the get-go she had no interest in trying to help me, only to defend her company. She proceeded to tell me that the provider was not in network and that what they paid out was correct. When I explained to her that wasn't what we had been told, she never seemed concerned nor tried to rectify the situation. It is clear that she wasn't surprised by this information, so based on other experiences discussed with my colleagues and reviews online, it was a common practice. It seems extremely suspicious to me that they could allow such egregious mistakes with no recourse or responsibility. I am on the hook now for a very large bill and am forced to switch providers mid-treatment. I would hope, that after seeing this complaint, they would reach out to me to try and rectify.

Dental Select received the below Revdex.com complaint today. We’re happy to provide a response, however, we need the attached HIPAA Authorization form filled out and signed by the member in order to provide the Revdex.com with member information that contains PHI. Let me know if you have any questions, or if there’s someone else I need to get this to just let me know. Thanks!

Complaint: ***

I am not exactly rejecting this response, I have attached the requested documentation, however, the complaint should remain open since no resolution has been agreed upon.

Sincerely

Dental Select has received the response from the complainant with the HIPAA form filled out. However, in the form it needs to state that the Revdex.com, and not Dental Select is the entity authorized to received PHI under Section III. If the complainant could change that information Dental Select will be happy to proceed with a response.

Thank you.

As a dental practice, we have used Dental Select for a long time. They are usually relatively easy to work with, but have severely dropped the ball and negatively impacted our office as well as our patients. Back in February we had a patient attend our practice who had Dental Select as a secondary insurance. We had no problems with this visit. However, he visited our office a second time in late April. It was necessary to start his procedure and bring him back a few days later to finish, so we brought him back in early May. On May 14th we sent the April visit secondary claim alongside the primary eob to Dental Select. On May 18th we also sent the May visit secondary claim and primary eob. On June 21st, they sent us a letter stating they could not match the dates because they received two claims and two eob's. I told them we had sent them separately so they should not have been mixed in the first place, but that all the information they needed was there. They insisted they could not process the claims and that I'd have to resubmit them. Reluctantly, I decided to do so. Rather than send two separate envelopes, I enclosed the primary eobs as well as the secondary claims for both his April and May visits. I made sure to separate the visit dates with paperclips and two obnoxiously bright sticky notes that pointed out the two different dates and all the information included in them. I triple checked that the information matched and was separated so they could not mix them up and sent it out. On August 2 we received payment for his May visit, but the April payment was nowhere in sight. I called Dental Select to see why they hadn't processed it once again and they told me they were unable to match the date of the eob to the claim. At this point I was furious because I had literally triple checked that all of the dates matched and that all of the necessary info was there.I called Dental Select about this on August 7th. The representative told me they could not match it because I didn't write the primary claim number on the secondary claim. I called him out on this because we hadn't done that for the May claim, yet they were still able to match those and had already paid us for them. He insisted that I would have to resubmit the claim for a third time, but that I could email it to him and that he would have it taken care of asap. Well today is September 7th, and I called to make sure they were processing that. However, when I called, the representative I spoke with told me the last note he had was from June 21 saying they needed a narrative and x-ray. I told him that I had spoken with someone on August 7th who told me I needed to resubmit the claim for a third time and that I had sent it to his email. He said, "I see you've been working with Matty, and that you were to resubmit that, but I have no further notes. Let me get in touch with him and see what's going on." I waited for a solid 8 minutes and when the representative came back on the phone he apologized for the wait and told me that Matty had received the information, but nothing has been done with them, so they're waiting for claims to get them. I have had this patients account open since April 27th because Dental Select has failed to match a single primary eob to a secondary claim. I am absolutely appalled at their severe lack of work ethic.

The customer service here at the insurance company is horrible. The management here does not know how to talk to people. They are very unprofessional. When asking information they speak to you like you are incompetent. I would not recommend this insurance company to anyone

We have had a dental select plan for over 5 years. My dentist didnt accept it after the first year but still used the discount for our family out of the kindness of his heart and the fact we have been going to him for over 20 years. I got online to find a new plan with dental select and discovered the plan I am on isnt even offered in utah any longer. And has not been for over 7 months. So I have been paying monthly for absolutely nothing. I was never informed of this via mail, email or text. Pretty close to a bait and switch I would say. When I wanted to cancel, I was told to download a form and mail it to them. Even more bait and switch. This should be interesting to see if they cancel my plan before I cancel the bank draft. The race is on......
