1st visit- the wait wasn't very long then an energetic young man(early-mid 20s) came and got me to take me back. The X-rays were taken. I stood there and the machine circulated my head while I wore the heavy coat in front my chest. After, taken to the back room and informed the X-ray machine was broken and had to reschedule for a week later. ONE WEEK LATER. I returned to have X-rays done. I did the X-ray again then sat back down in the room to wait for the Oral Surgeon. I was nervous because I had a week to anticipate the appointment. The once energetic young man who brought me back wasn't his previous self. After having an X-ray done, again I went to wait and looked up at the tv waiting for my X-rays to be displayed after a couple minutes of seeing the arrow not move, I turned around and young man was sleeping sitting up. I asked him if he was okay and he replied yes, that he was sick and it was his birthday.I asked if he was going to be working on my teeth today and he answered no. I probably shouldn't have dropped it but I did. The oral surgeon came in and let me know that my wisdom tooth has grown and due to its size and the positioning of the tooth on the main nerve I may not have any feeling in my bottom lip after the procedure. It is a consequence I must risk happening if I wanted to move forward in having it extracted. I was nervous but an assistant told me that he'd just done her daughters wisdoms and hers were just like mine and she recovered fine. Also, another assistant chimed in in saying the oral surgeon did his too. The oral surgeon spoke for himself and stated after being asked, he is confident and does this exact procedure handful of times a day and does work in S FL as well. He ended in saying he isn't me so cannot speak for me in the event that something happened I would have to live with it and he will continue to do what he does. That's wasn't very reassuring but I accepted it andI decided to move forward. The mask that was placed on my nose was intense, felt like I fell asleep for 10 seconds and woke again. Then the mask became hard to breath thru. The oxygen tank with nitrous ran out of its supply while on my face and so it needed replacing. The dentist gave me a shot of anesthetic and my heart began racing. I figured it was from me being so nervous. My whole body was trembling. The dentist turned the nitrous oxygen up too much after replacing the tank I had to ask him to turn it down. While he was working I told him I could feel pain and he gave me another shot. I told my self in my mind that I wasn't there. I repeated that, "I'm not here, I'm not here". I was awake but had a horrifying out of body experience. I believed I was hovering above my self looking at me laying back in the chair with the bite block in my mouth and a tear about to roll out of my right eye and I believed I was never going to be able to talk to my son ever again. I thought I was going to be a vegetable, because I could hear the dentist and his assistant asking me questions like if I was okay, I couldn't answer. I felt as though my responses were paralyzed. I remember thinking go back, go back, go back over and over again or you'll be gone forever. Finally I was able to answer and I started to cry and say to I don't know. I was scared and I couldn't explain what happened but it felt good to be awake. He asked me if I took anything before coming in. Offended I answered no. When he finished it was me and the assistant and I told the assistant I think I had a nightmare. She replied "no you were awake the whole time". I didn't know how to explain what just happened without sounding like a lunatic. I sat there and realized the right side of my face was lazy and I was scared because I wasn't told prior to the procedure the numbing medication would cause laziness until it wore off and hour or so later. The receptionist told me but it was a horrible feeling after my experience. I was given a RX for amoxicillin and a pain prescription upon leaving prior to them closing. The pharmacy informed is no longer being made and because it was a narcotic couldn't substitute for anything. So had no pain medicine until 2pm the next day when a new prescription could be written for me.. HEALING 14 days later went back and got prescribed antibiotics for possible bone infection and informed the anesthetic went too deep, hence being still swollen, numb, and there is pain to the slightest touch the surface of my skin in one area. My smile is still slightly off as my bottom lip is crooked. While smiling my bottom lip form an uneven way of exposing more teeth on one side than the other. Going back...For 10 days I had a baseball sized swelling on my face with a yellow bruise going from my lip down my face and neck. Currently it's been exactly 22 days. I'm still taking my antibiotic and still have some numbness in chin and very slight pain on the surface of my face but am healing.
