In response to the complaint submitted by [redacted], A Full Mouth Debridement (FMD) procedure is not measured by the amount of tartar and/or the time spent on the procedure. Yes we needed to remove the tartar in order to do a thorough dental exam. Our staff and facility went through the standard protocols and procedures with the patient about the FMD and the fees that were involved with this procedure. The patient was given the option to look for another facility to provide the services requested and the option of not getting the FMD before the procedure was performed. She still decided to agree and accept the procedure even after the doctor asked her several times if she was sure she wanted the procedure and understood the fees involved. As a courtesy the cleaning she requested was performed despite the fact that the insurance does not allow two different cleaning procedures to be done on the same appointment date. We also provided her with an oral hygiene kit before she left. Only after the procedure was done the copayment was taken from the patient. If the patient wants a refund she needs to speak with the insurance company.
Thank you,
Dentart Dental
