Please accept this as the formal response to the above referenced complaint ID, I did not receive the link to enter it into your system and could not find it anywhere on your website Mr [redacted] states that he was a graduate of DSMT and has requested copies of his transcripts so that he can apply to become a massage therapist in the state of California but the school won’t release them because he owes moneyThat is correct, he owes the school $2,for classes he failed and had to retake in order to graduate, he signed off each time he took the courses and knew the amount he was being charged for these classesHe knew of the amount owed and when internal collection efforts failed he was sent to the collection company-Sunrise Credit in August It is unclear how or if he was ever given copies of his transcripts upon graduation because he owed money and a hold is placed on his record which prevents the document from being generated He previously came into the school on 7/9/to get copies of his transcripts and was again told he owed this money and his transcripts wouldn’t be releasedHe claimed he paid the debt and was asked to provide evidence but he failed to do thisHe was also given the contact information for Sunrise and the Collections Manager to either provide them proof or to make payment arrangements and he never followed throughOn 8/18/he again contacted the school and was again told the amount he owed, he claimed on this date that “this was the first time he had heard about his account being in collections”-which contradicts the fact that he was told this in-person on 7/9/The school gave him copies of the course repeats that he signed and he even stated that he had talked to Sunrise about the amount owed-again contradicting his claim that he didn’t know he owed money The Collections Manager confirmed that he needs to now deal with Sunrise Credit due to how old the debt is and the school gain contacted him on 8/25/and he was told that he needs to once again contact Sunrise to arrange payments before transcripts could be releasedHe contacted the school again on 9/15/and stated that he was told in that financial aid would take care of the repeat fees (which he previously claimed he didn’t know about), he was again told to contact Sunrise to arrange payments for his balanceHe then threatened the employee stating that “he filed complaints with the Revdex.com and the district attorney”He was again told that until he pays his balance or makes payment arrangements that the school cannot release transcriptsThis is clearly explained in the enrollment agreement he signed when he first enrolled in [redacted] ***, Vice President of Compliance [redacted] Education Group [redacted] Pompano Beach, FL ###-###-#### (office) ###-###-#### (fax)

Documentation on file shows that he owes the money and that he was told he owed the money to the collection agencyThe amount was "written off" because it was turned over to the collection agency but that doesn't mean he doesn't owe us the moneyHe need to make a good faith effort to at least set up a payment plan with the collection companyOnce he shows that he has made at least two payments then I will authorize release of his transcripts

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
The total sum of moneys owed was written off prior to my graduation according to statements provided by DSMT while they had on record grandmothers credit cards and had billed for those classes taken and was given authority to take payments out for classes, there must have been a reason to zero my account prior to my graduation and have now change your minds about money owed.. and yet I was still given my certification with everyone signing off stating I had no balances and completed courses with no problems or past dues
Sincerely,[redacted]

apply to become a massage therapist in the state of California but the school won’t release them because he owes money. That is correct, he owes the school $2,089.39 for classes he failed and had to retake in order to graduate, he signed off each time he took the courses and knew the amount he was being charged for these classes. He knew of the amount owed and when internal collection efforts failed he was sent to the collection company-Sunrise Credit in August 2009. It is unclear how or if he was ever given copies of his transcripts upon graduation because he owed money and a hold is placed on his record which prevents the document from being generated.   He previously came into the school on 7/9/2014 to get copies of his transcripts and was again told he owed this money and his transcripts wouldn’t be released. He claimed he paid the debt and was asked to provide evidence but he failed to do this. He was also given the contact information for Sunrise and the Collections Manager to either provide them proof or to make payment arrangements and he never followed through. On 8/18/2016 he again contacted the school and was again told the amount he owed, he claimed on this date that “this was the first time he had heard about his account being in collections”-which contradicts the fact that he was told this in-person on 7/9/14. The school gave him copies of the course repeats that he signed and he even stated that he had talked to Sunrise about the amount owed-again contradicting his claim that he didn’t know he owed money.   The Collections Manager confirmed that he needs to now deal with Sunrise Credit due to how old the debt is and the school gain contacted him on 8/25/16 and he was told that he needs to once again contact Sunrise to arrange payments before transcripts could be released. He contacted the school again on 9/15/16 and stated that he was told in 2009 that financial aid would take care of the repeat fees (which he previously claimed he didn’t know about), he was again told to contact Sunrise to arrange payments for his balance. He then threatened the employee stating that “he filed complaints with the Revdex.com and the district attorney”. He was again told that until he pays his balance or makes payment arrangements that the school cannot release transcripts. This is clearly explained in the enrollment agreement he signed when he first enrolled in 2008.     [redacted], Vice President of Compliance [redacted] Education Group [redacted] Pompano Beach, FL 33064 ###-###-#### (office) ###-###-#### (fax)

He need to make a good faith effort to at least set up a payment plan with the collection company. Once he shows that he has made at least two payments then I will authorize release of his transcripts.
