When this customer called dispatch, there were dogs barking loudlyHe told me he would call backWhen he did he shared with me that someone had called the Belleville Police on him to clean up his dog's feces. I thought the cleanup was outside. When the technicians arrived at Mr
***'s home & went inside, the smell of ammonia & rotten meat & foods strewn all over the house caused one of them to throw up. They went to his furnace to repair and found an open pressure switch. They cleaned out his flue pipe which was filled with debri that made the pressure switch open, then started the furnace up, cycled it three times as usual and it ran fine. All this time the technicians were in the house, the homeowner was locked up in the bathroom with his ferocious dogs who were all barking loudly. Mr *** kept calling them to see where they were with the repair. The technician could not hear him above the dogs barking. Upon leaving the premises, they called in & said the furnace was running & that neither one of them would go back in the squaller that was in the house. His brother was paying for the service, not him. Later in the evening, He called back & left a message that his furnace had stopped running. I called his brother & told him about the conditions & that they would have to call someone else & that I would not run his credit card for the work we had doneHe told me to run it, that they technicians had done the work, but I will not. He also told me to call his brother & speak to him directly, which I did. Mr *** does not think the unhealthy conditions & ferocious dogs in his home is a reason to not come back to repair. We took no money

The facts as we know them. Mr [redacted] was having guests over for a pool party and the house was hot.  [redacted] responded to the call after 8pm to find Mr [redacted] immediately asking for Dollar amounts and what this was going to cost him. [redacted] informed Mr [redacted] that he had to diagnose it first. Mr...

[redacted] responded by saying "he wasn't going to pay a lot".They neglected to mention or didn't know they owned a heat pump. Not exactly [redacted],s expertise , but he was able to quickly diagnose a weak capacitor stressing the system which had burnt the contact relay. After replacing those two parts he had the A/C up and going. Billed and left. Unbeknown to him the T-Stat was also damaged from the contact relay burning up. So a second trip at no charge was made to find it was calling for heat and cooling simultaneously. He then told the customer he believed they needed a new t stat. But being unsure of his diagnosis and knowing the guy was already complaining about the cost of the necessary repairs already incurred, he simply disabled the heat and told the guy no service call and we'll send another tech better acquainted w/ heat pumps in the fall when you can afford the fix. Well it got cold and they called us to come a reconnect the heat. No mention of needing a T Stat. Only that they were guaranteed to not pay the service call and "our guy had un hooked their heat because he didn't know what he was doing". With a call like that I ( being the owner)went out myself. I called [redacted] to get the scoop. He kinda chuckled n said "ohh that guy".. he explained the scenario above and that the guy was intoxicated ,aggressive from the jump about what he was and wasn't going to pay, and disgruntled about the cost of resulting repairs. And [redacted] was a bit unsure of the T Stat diagnosis n wanted me to look at it. He said. "[redacted] that guy isn't going to buy our T Stat if I'm right" the guy complained about the money both times I was there. [redacted] was correct on both accounts. I looked over the entire system and upon a deep inspection of the internals of the  t stat I found a short.I Expressed to Mrs [redacted] that it was in fact the T Stat as [redacted] had told them in the summer. She acted as if it was news to her and said" my husband dealt with that I don't know". So I quoted the part and installation. They declined. I got my labor and a small fuse part cost. Trying to help,I told them what T stat to get, and offered to answer his call if he needed over the phone advice. Boy did he take me up on that. Over the weekend he called me 4 times. 2+ hours I gave him walking him through the purchase, installation and troubleshooting when it didn't work for him. I knew he must have miswired it. He said let's make an appointment. I said sure I'll come out and install it for you. He said his wife would meet me on Monday. She canceled when I was in route. He said ok Tuesday I'm off work at 2:30. I said ok I'll call you when I'm 30 mins away. As is our M.O. Since calls and the time they take are unpredictable. Tuesday came and I was involved in an install early in the day and received a call from a agitated Mr. [redacted]. Expressing he had taken off work and I was late and he had "st to do". I said whoa, slow down, back down your tone talking to me. I reminded him that he said he'd be off work at 2:30,that did not mean that I would be sitting there waiting on him at 2:30. That I had told him( as I do everyone) I'd call 30 mins out. I said I can get there soon around 4ish. We were almost done with what we were doing. He said "I have to be gone by 4-5pm and as long as it was just an hour labor he was fine doing it later on". I said wait, no there will be a service call for this trip since he had refused to allow us the previous trip (s)to fix the issue. I couldn't make another trip for free and install the T Stat he bought because he tried to do it himself and failed. He called me crooked and he was going to put me out of business. I couldn't help but chuckle because I bent over for this guy trying to help him since he told me his financial woes during the 4 calls over the weekend. That just pissed him off more that I laughed, n he hung up. So I text him the website and phone info. That brings us to the present. What this guy is really upset about is the costs of HVAC repairs are more than he likes, and that intimidation and threats of (false) negative exposure didn't get him what he wanted= services cheaper than I could provide. I suppose it's proof it's impossible to please em all.
