Dependable Repair Services Reviews (%countItem)

The repiarman did not take oven doors off and said a fuse was broken and he did not have one. He charged me $89.95.
I cleaned my Kitchen aid Superba oven. I have an upper and lower one and I self-cleaned the lower one. The next day when I went to use it, it wouldn't work, and Christmas was in a couple days where I needed to cook. I called 3 appliance places and asked them all to come out. The first one came, Dependable Repair Services - Cumming, GA (dependableservices.com- 770) 268-3828), he looked at the oven tried turning it on and the lower would not work, just stayed on low whereas the top oven worked fine. He said there are two fuses and the lower one was broken and the top one was fine. He said he did not have a fuse on his truck and after checking surrounding area no one else had one. He charged me $89.95 and did not leave me an invoice.
The next repairman came right afterward, *** located in Alpharetta, GA. I told him what the repairman who just left said, and he asked me did he take the oven doors off and I replied no. He then said how would he know what was wrong. He also said my oven only has one fuse for both ovens not two.
He first shut the breaker off in my basement and then took the oven doors off. He then did a thorough inspection and some testing, and he said, safety regulator thermostat needed to be replaced. Thankfully he had it on his truck
On his invoice he wrote, "Test unit completely; remove unit from the cabinets; take unit apart; identify the issues; replace lower oven safety regulator (thermostat) assembly; reinstall unit; test unit after".
I called Dependable Repair Services when the tech left and told them what their tech said and what my new tech said, I was asked to e-mail them the invoice which I did. The next day I got a reply that said their repairman put down it was a bad thermostat and I replied that is not what he told me and I also e-mailed from google how you would tell if it was bad and every article said you take the doors off which this man did not. I asked for my money back and they did not respond to leave me out of $89.95 which in my opinion is robbery.
I feel people need to know how this company works which taking advantage of a customer is not nice.

Desired Outcome

After they said the repairmen wrote on his invoice which he did not give me their e-mail back to me once they received a copy of the invice the new tech gave me was they would not refund me as their tech wrote a thermostat was broken. I replied with he only said the word fuse, never he take the doors off to check and in addition I sent along with me e-mail from google how to check if a therostat is broken which it said, shut the breaker off, take off the doors off and how you check it. They did not repond to this e-mail and just kept the money. I was taken advantage of.

Dependable Repair Services Response • Jan 13, 2020

Good Morning,

This complaint is due a to a service ticket # XXXXXX requested by the complainant. The customer asked us to look at her oven that was not heating anymore. We made the customer aware of our trip charge of $89.95, she agreed and We sent a tech out on 12/23/2019. While the technician was there he found the unit needed a thermostat but the technician did not have one on his van and we would have to order it. The customer was not happy about that and called the office to complain. We explained that our techs do carry some parts on their vans but could not carry every possible part due to space limitations. She declined the repair and paid only the trip fee of $89.95.

A couple hours later the customer called the office and stated that we misdiagnosed the unit. She had another company come out and fix the unit that same day. We explained that this sometimes happens, but we needed a copy of the invoice from the other company to prove we misdiagnosed the unit and then we could possibly refund the trip fee that was paid.

But, when we received the other company's invoice it states that they found a bad thermostat, replaced it, and fixed the unit. So, we did NOT misdiagnose the unit. She is upset we did not have the part on the van. Per my company policy I cannot justify refunding the trip fee that the customer agreed to, simply because we did not have the part on hand.

Thank you

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the your response. You excluded to the fact the tech DO NOT TAKE THE DOORS off, therefore how would he know it was the thermostat. I even sent you articles how to find out it is a thermostat and it was clear you had to take doors off and shut the breaker off before checking. He NEVER used the word thermostat he only said fuse, that is not the same nor did he leave me an invoice. The reasons I just said allows me my money back because he was not truthful.

I have be honest and feel this company took advantage of me. I am not going to write again what I already have, I expect my money back. If the tech took the doors off to tell me that I needed a thermostat and then did not have one I would have been fine to pay for his visit. Instead all he did was turn the oven on and off and said it was a fuse, and he did not have one. He never said thermostat to me. It is no fair to take advantage of a customer.
