Desert Realty & Management Corp. Reviews (1)

Found this house in the paper. Our apartment lease was up and we wanted a house for our growing family. We found one that was cheap but not very good living conditions. We were reassured things would be repaired. I made a list of repairs that needed attention and gave a copy to the management. On the list:all sinks leaking along with one toilet . The other was out of order and needed repairs, water damage under all sinks, cracks in tub and shower, landscaping was in need; grass(over 2 feet tall including weeds) trees all over grown, holes in the dry wall, all sliding closet doors were hanging off the tracks, carpets torn up appeared to be by a small dog and stained(though they had them professionally cleaned), front door and bathroom door hanging off the hinges, garrage door dented and hanging off the ceiling, thermostat hanging out of the wall and leaked out of the wire cover when it rained, drawers were broken in the kitchen and bathroom,counters/linoleum dammaged. Cigarette burns and razor blade cuts on both bathroom counter tops.Towel and toilet paper racks were missing and broken.Dish washer was rusted, and it was the only thing replaced. The sprinkler system was unusable, and it leaked. This list was presented to [redacted] first and he told us we need to give the list to [redacted] Short. He was the maintenance man. So we did so.He tried to fix things and was not successful. Things continued to leak. A few times he came to fix things, sinks/toilets. Leakage problems never ceased. When ever he came I would walk around showing [redacted] Short things that still needed to be fixed, that were not. He would blow me off like I had a problem. It was obvious these were existing problems that had never been repaired even before we lived there. We only got one key and zero garage door openers(Within the 4th month of living there someone use a garage door opener to get into our house and rob us of all our family photo's and other belongings. They still haven't been caught) After the hail storm the roof and A/C were replaced, by the management, but the thermostat remained hanging out of the wall. The roofers that were sent had thrown the roofing nails in both the front and back yard. After witnessing one of the roofers throwing a 'wind-o matic' at my sisters dog cause she was barking continuously at the roofers, I called [redacted] to report this to him. He said he was going to evict us for complaing about this unimportant matter. He said that they will pick up the nails when they are through with the roof. Plus he tells me, "I dont need this drama". I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He hung up on me after I told him how shocked I was to hear that. The nails were not picked up. We continued to step on them(going right through our shoes and bare feet through out the time we lived there. After we realized its not going to be fixed we decided to fix things and get it taken out of rent. Then Desert Reality Management denied us that.We lived in the house almost 7years. We gave our 30days and spoke to [redacted] on the phone about leaving,he said thats fine, and we paid our last month's rent, and was out in a timely manner. Then we recieved a letter with itemized charges... for the repairs WE needed them to repair upon us moving in years ago, plus rent 945.35.

Drywall. 250. FALSE

Appliance repairs. 200 FALSE

Interrior clean. 250 FALSE

Flooring. 500 FALSE

General repairs. 400. FALSE

Trash haul. 200. FALSE

Landscaping cleanup 400. FALSE

Total $2,200.00

Total due if turned over to collections $3,368.61

The carpets were stained and torn up but were professionally cleaned before we moved in. I didnt think people could get away with this sort of wrong doing.

This man and wife team really are 'slumloards' and they need to be stopped from picking on hard working lower-class families who just want honesty and to be treated fairly. When I called [redacted] about these false chrges he raised his voice to me and said "[redacted]" to everything I said about the house not being fixed in a timely manner, plus the false charges. Simmilar to the very first time I spoke to him about the unfixed problems in the house, he said "I will have you evicted and you'll be out of there at the end of the month".
