Desert Sun Handyman Services Reviews (%countItem)

I wish I had reviews of Desert Sun Handyman Services before I gave the owner. Bill A, a $4,500 deposit. If I had read reviews, I would have seen that Bill has done the same thing to other customers that he did to me:

1. He demanded a deposit that was way too high (and I was gullible enough to pay it)

2. He was really eager to get my business until he got the deposit, then he delayed the start of the job

3. The job is a painting job, and he sent workers who are not painters. Their work is sloppy and haphazard.

4. He kept demanding more of a deposit when his guys hadn't done much work at all

5. He added charges to the bid after we had agreed upon an amount

6. When I told him I didn't want to pay more money, he pulled his guys from the job and then engaged in an all-day email battle with me

7. When I called to report him to Home Advisor, the service where I found him, I discovered that he had recently stopped his Home Advisor membership, so they had no authority over him

she choose to call us off of the job due to the cv 19 and money problems, she keep try to increase the scope of the job and for each of the new work she was given a estimate and as all our job we charge a deposit , that's when she changed her posture on the job I try to work it out with her and even said I did not want to do the add on I just wanted to finish the original job.I should of had knowing better to do work for her because she fired the first guy and did not pay him as well. I did meet with her and try to have her let us finish the job but the truth is I think it was a money problem.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because Mr. A' claims are untrue:

I did not pull him from the job due to Covid or money problems. I pulled him because he kept adding on charges and his team's work was sloppy (see attached). The men Mr. A brought to do the job were not painters. I was concerned that Mr. A would end up doubling the cost of the job and delivering sub-par work that I would have to pay someone else to come and fix.

I did not fire another contractor without payment. Mr. A was the only contractor I hired to work on the house. The seller of the home had a contractor finishing work when I took possession of the home and when Mr. A started work on the home. That contractor was not hired by me, and I have no idea whether the seller paid that contractor.

Sincerely

I hired Bill A, owner of Desert Sun Handyman and paid him 1760.00 on December 12, 2019 and an additional 1574.80 on December 20 for a 4-5 day (his estimate) remodel job that is still not completed 3 and a half weeks later. It also has shoddy workmanship that I will need to hire another company to complete. I also paid him 7500.00 on December 12, 2019 for a deck to be built immediately following the 4 day remodel project. This was for materials for the deck and I paid him on the 12th so there would not be a delay. Bill asked for additional money that was supposed to be the balance due on the deck for the labor in order to complete and fix his shoddy workmanship.I declined to give him another penny. He had a day to consider whether he would honor his contract or quit. He has quit and not offered me any refund for the incomplete remodel or deck. I have 1500.00 dollars worth of lumber for the deck on my property that was delivered that I will return to him when he refunds my money.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They installed ceramic tile in 2 bathrooms. You can pull the tile up with your hand, it moves when you walk on it.
The owner Bill Andrews will not give me my money back. I would not use this company change a filter.

I paid this contractor a $675 deposit to schedule his services. He never showed up, so I called and fired him. He has refused to refund my deposit.

I hired this company to do some basic handyman work. I fired them before the work was completed. Dishonest business practices. Unreliable. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I agree with the Revdex.com rating. Though the man who installed my fence did excellent work, the final cost was more than a third more than originally quoted. Labor paid to the business was twice what was paid to the worker.

On Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 10 a.m., we met w/ Bill A of Desert Sun Handyman Services at my parent's home. He appeared to be friendly/professional. We received emailed estimate from McKenna (office worker) later that afternoon; we reviewed it and decided to do it since he seemed professional/knowledgeable and the price quoted seemed reasonable/fair. I called McKenna and we used a credit card to pay the $438 1/2 down deposit (total for the job was $875) that they required. She sent an adjusted invoice to my email for the balance amount of $437 as a receipt. The next day, Friday, February 1, 2019 I received a call from Bill’s contractor, Tom, who will be the one assigned to the project. He indicated that he would need to come to the house to assess the shower project before he can start so an appointment was set up for him on Saturday, February 2, 2019 in the afternoon. Tom showed up around 4 p.m. that afternoon and indicated that more materials and three days of labor were needed for this project. Bill called me that evening to inform us that the initial estimate was too low for the work that needed to be done and that it would now cost $1,800. I informed him that we were concerned about the additional of the much higher cost for the project. He said he can send over the new estimate and if we decide not to go forward, that he can refund our deposit on Monday, February 4th. My brother communicated with him by texts and phone about the additional costs and informed him that we didn’t want to continue with the services. Just about an hour after my brother spoke with him about not proceeding with the project, I received an invoice attached to my email from them. It was an “invoice” with a balance amount of $1,127. This invoice was minus the deposit of the $438 we already paid. We don’t know why he would send me an invoice after we told him we weren’t going forward with the services? It wasn’t a new or amended “estimate” as he proposed – it was a balance due invoice. On Monday, February 4th, I called McKenna and explained to her that my brother had already discussed the additional costs of the project and that we weren’t going forward with the services and that we would like a refund of our deposit as Bill mentioned. McKenna said that she had the transaction information and will credit back the card and email me a receipt. She mentioned that it may take 3 to 5 days for the credit to post. I hadn’t received an emailed receipt or response all day on Tuesday, February 5th. I sent McKenna a text that evening indicating that I hadn’t received a copy of the receipt for the refund and to please send; the next day, I still hadn’t received a response. We have called (McKenna and left her a voice message on Wednesday, February 6th, to please email the receipt to me)/texted Bill and McKenna; we've yet to receive any certainty/remedy regarding our matter from this company.
