Customer was advised when contract was signed that there was a backlog and there might be a waitThe day they called they were told we would be there that ThursdayThey said they no longer wanted the job doneWe collect a deposit for the main reason of maintaining good faithThey could have
called and said if you don't get the job done by this week we want our deposit back. This is not fraud and I believe that we can hold them responsible for the contractObviously not the best way to handle itA check for $is being mailed to them today
Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2016/03/25) */
[redacted] was referred to us by his handyman, [redacted]. He wanted an estimate for a new roof. We met and discussed possible options. Existing roof had 2 and 3 layers of rock roof on it and had been leaking. Most all of the water drained down...
to the bottom edge and went thru overhang, damaging soffitt and overhang areas. Existing roof was also at maximum weight load, causing existing corners and fascia to sag.
We discussed different options, one being re-building with plans and permits on structure repair or going with lifting sagging corners and overhang, then installing new fascia, nailing into rafters and allowing fascia to hold up corners, thus no costly reconstruction cost. [redacted] chose fascia replacement along with dry rot replacement per UBC code. Roof permit was pulled and signed off by inspector. He also chose rock roof to maintain mid sixties look. Rock roof was installed per manufacturer spec and per contract, with Type IV. asphalt and fiberglass felt. [redacted] was told rock roof would come off roof periodically over the years due to the pitch of the roof and that could easily be cleaned. Any residue tar would be mastic on laps and or chimney which could be cleaned easily. This will stop with a little aging. No structural changes were made per contract. Only change was to drainage from existing leakage. All overhangs looked 100% better.
[redacted] complained of a very slight sag in back yard. At this point, I told him to have [redacted] lift and do structural reinforcement while he was remodeling the house. Roof was signed off by the County and no further contacts were made.
Desert Valley stands by all the work we did per contract and decision not to get into re-building span on house.
[redacted] was doing extensive remodeling and did not want any more money or attention brought to his project. Existing overhangs were in exactly same condition as when we started and damage was all pre-existing.
Again, all work was authorized per grandfathering existing frame. Roof system has warranty and will be honored if any leaks occur, per contract.
Respectfully,
