As I told *** *** when she called in to my office, the decision was made by the owner of the property and solely by the owner of the house *** *** lives inThe owner of the house says there was never a key pad to control the garage door and because *** *** took it upon herself to buy
one and then requested help programing it that this was now the responsibility of the tenant who purchased the key padWe work for the ownerIn the lease, it states that no alterations/repairs are to be done to the property without prior written approval and if there is an issue, that the Property Manager is to be notified in writing before any work is done

If the Revdex.com would like to write a check to the tenant we will allow that

Horrible experience with Desert Wind! They ignore maintenance requests--I went months without a working master bath faucetThey bad mouthed and blamed the owner for everything Once I moved out: they had absolutely no reason to withhold my deposit since the very next day, the property closed with a new owner They didn't have to do a move out inspection or anything But they withheld my deposit and kept lying about mailing it, but couldn't prove they had mailed it They withheld it past the legal limit of business days, and continue to lie about it I will be pursuing further action to get double the amount back as provided by law

my complaint is not regarding the home owner's response to not wanting to pay for the trip charge for the garage key panel.  My complaint is that the business owner of Desert Wind authorized the technician to come to the house before she received approval from the home owner as Kate (DesertWind owner), misunderstood the service request and sent out the technician unauthorized. After the service was already completed, Kate then contacted the home owner, who refused the charge. Kate then decided to pass the $49.00 charge to me, even after admitting she sent the technician to my home without authorisation. If Kate had followed her own business  protocols and best practices, the home owner would have declined to have the key pad coded (which homeowner's actually deny ever existed-thankfully I kept the original key pad) and the technical would never have been called. It was only through Kate B[redacted]'s negligence that this issue occurred. Kate was negligent in properly reading the maintenance request. Based on her own assumptions, she sent a technician to the house without contacting me, emailing me or clarifying the request in any way. She was also negligent to send the technician out without receiving permission from the home owner first. Finally, rather than admitting to her error and correcting the problem, Kate B[redacted] with Desert Wind Property Management is attempting to deflect the real issue. I have attached the email chain where I clearly reference the original issue and my concern with a complete lack of communication or response from Desert Wind. It also includes Kate's response where she clearly misunderstood the order. Why Kate would  think a tenant would purchase a new garage door out of pocket prior to ever calling the property management company simply defies logic. Even worst, it is completely negligent on the part of the business owner not to at least clarify that type of claim.

DO NOT RENT FROM DESERT WIND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT!
After renting a townhouse from this company in [redacted] for a year and half, with perfect payment history, it was finally time for my lease to end and I decided to move to another state. Myself along with family and friends spent 3 days cleaning the unit, to where it was in better condition and much cleaner than when I moved in. After cleaning I had taken several photos and did a complete walk through with [redacted], who pointed out that I should clean behind the appliances as well as a few other minor things (Window seal above door, medicine cabinet, little things that were just overlooked), or else I would be charged for them to have a cleaning crew come and do it. So Mr. [redacted] let me keep the keys so I could finish those issues and simply drop the keys off in their Dropbox before midnight. This was completed as he requested. Now, take in mind he claimed everything else was perfect and the unit looked great. Carpets had been professionally shampooed, title and grout was professionally done, walls were scrubbed down, all the typical cleaning to ensure we received the deposit back.
Well the next day I had sent the rest of the photos showing I went back and completed the ONLY issues Mr. [redacted] had mentioned. A few hours later [redacted], the owner, replies to the email with an attitude asking how I got back in without the keys. I explained to him that Mr. [redacted] had let me keep them and simply drop them off in the Dropbox. Well from that moment I could tell Mr. [redacted] was not happy that Mr. [redacted] had informed me about cleaning behind the appliances, because he wanted to keep some of the deposit. Surprisingly, a few days later I receive a brief and short email claiming that the unit had a strong oder of smoke, and the carpets would need to be replaced along with the walls repainted. Now, take into account, Mr. [redacted] never mentioned anything about there being a smell during the walk through. Plus, no one that lived there even smokes! We are very healthy and workout regularly.
Today I received the disposition from them and they charged $800 to replace the carpet and $900 to paint the walls; which any landlord will tell you, the walls are always repainted anyways. So they kept the $775 deposit and now want an additional $932 within a month or it goes to collections. In my opinion, I believe Mr. [redacted] was upset that I was informed about the additional cleaning, so he came up with something else to try and screw me. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE US ING THIS COMPANY. SAME THING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!

I have used this company for maintenance jobs at my home and they have done a good job of completing them on time and at or below budget.
