I contracted with design2resource for a complete bathroom renovation including pulling out all walls, floors, and tilesStuds in the shower/bath were completely rotted and replacing/sistering them was in the Statement of Work (SOW)After a couple of months one of the grab bars in the shower/bath came looseBased on the quality of the renovation (for example, toward the end of the project I refused to let his team into my house and demanded a licensed plumber to redo all the errors of the design2resource team), I hired a different contractor to investigate the source of the loose grab barRemoving one 12" tile, we saw that the studs had NOT been replaced or sistered, and the grab bar was screwed into a rotten stud on one side and into a piece of plywood that was tacked to another stud on the other sideThe screws were not wood screws; they were sheet rock screwsI notified design2resource and was told that he would have come over and used a longer screwI reminded him that he had agreed to replace the studs and he showed me that the item was "if needed" and he had decided the work wasn't necessarySo despite us discussing exactly this item, he added "if needed." The repair involved removing tiles all the way up the wall to shore up the studIf this site used photos I would include visual examples of other aspects of the shoddy work performed by design2resource

We received poor work from the contractor that was contracted to work on our floors. We hired Mr.[redacted] to place hardwood floors in our living room. He was unable to get the stain to match the color that we wanted. Due to the poor sanding, indentions were left in the wood. The project was not completed on time.[redacted] was fired from this job. We discovered later that he had removed material from the garage that we paid for. I have made several attempts to get him to return the items, but he refuse to do so. Desired SettlementHe needs to return the material.Business Response We were hired to install about 400 sq ft of hardwood floors and stain them to match a red cabinet of theirs, then install new baseboard throughout for $2400. We installed the floor and matched the floor perfectly. Mrs. [redacted] was not happy with the floor, but not because it didn't match her cabinet, but because it was TOO RED FOR A FLOOR. They had also walked on some areas before it was dry, even though we had let them know it was not ready for traffic, creating footprints and other marks in the finish. For the client's satisfaction and because the project was slightly delayed, we resanded the floors to bare wood. This cost us a lot of time and money. We were not fired from the job at any point. There are text message exchanges which show her texts "You missed a good lunch", right up to the last day of working for them. Right before we were to apply the new color finish, we wanted to be absolutely sure there would be no surprises, and that Mr. and Mrs. [redacted] were willing to pay the balance of the contract price and be satisfied with the new color, especially since we had not charged them a change order to resand and restain a totally different color and they had been so particular about the color up to that point. It was about 8:00PM or so and we had been sanding all day...3 men, me on a belt sander, a helper with an orbital sander and my carpenter with the drum sander. Mrs [redacted] gave me $100 out of the $1200 balance of $2400, leaving a balance of $1100, and I went to [redacted] and purchased about 5 polyurethane stain selections, when I returned I applied small samples on the floor that night. Mr. [redacted] signed off on a color, but Mrs. [redacted] was mysteriously not home anymore, even though we came back exactly at the time we said we would (before 10PM) and this project was clearly the most pressing thing in our lives. Since she was the project manager and color inspector, I didn't feel comfortable applying the stain until I knew she was happy with it. She texted the next morning that we should have applied the stain the night before because Mr. [redacted] signed off on the color, and could we hurry up and come finish the stain. We went to the house, ready to finish the stain, but when I inquired about the balance of the contract, she revealed that she had given another contractor a deposit and would not be able to honor the balance of the contract of $1100....so, to recap, for 400 feet of 3 1/4 Bruce oak, its installation, site sanding, staining and finishing (and the cost overrun of resanding), baseboard for the whole room installed and painted, we had been paid $1300. All that was left was to refinish it, but they claimed their other contractor would do so or they could give us a fraction of what they owed, $300. So we walked away from the job because it seemed fishy and we had honored the resanding for the customer's satisfaction, although they carefully omitted any information regarding hiring another contractor mid-job, but were happy to let us keep working as long as we would. Regarding any claims of materials that we took, they are absolutely 100% baseless. We removed the scraps from the installation which they asked us to. They have absolutely no proof that we took any material, nor have they even SPECIFIED exactly what material they are even referring to. They will not be able to provide evidence of any "material" because they themselves don't know what material to claim foulplay on for their fish story. They will also not be able to provide evidence of poor workmanship after we resanded the floors. These clients were the most difficult I've ever had because she was obstinate about the colors, but also unreasonable and illogical about what constitutes a "match". These clients also represent the only complaint I've ever received. I covet my company's reputation dearly and fully intend to become Revdex.com accredited and the whole nine yards as my growth allows. I am eager to neutralize this libel and slander post-haste. Consumer Response The first thing is that this has been a terrible experience for me and my family. [redacted] has only provided to us the payment invoices. He picked up material but had neglected to give us the material receipts. Besides material that was removed, [redacted] took the carpet from our garage that had been removed for the hardwood floors. As far as the text message for the meal, my wife was tired of the 3 hour lunches that were taken. She said that was a way to coax him to stay and work. During the weeks of this ordeal, there was no productivity. He could not find anyone to do the work. he asked my neighbors to assist. They did for 1 day. The time to complete the flooring was unreal, it has been a great inconvenience to my entire family. It was a headache we would plan around his arrival and he would show up 2 and 3 hours late, then leave without accomplishing anything. Our door that leads to the garage was left off the hinges for 2 weeks. This same door feel on my daughter causing injury. When he did move it, it was damaged. For some reason the wood cutting was done in our garage. It took an entire day to clean furniture, our tv, kids toys, and stored items of a fine saw dust (I have photos). He didn't attempted to prevent dust from sticking to our blinds, ceiling fans, light fixtures, walls, and vents. We assumed that a plastic draping would have been put in place. We have blotches of stain that were spilled on our garage floor and a big blotch of stain that was poured down our street drain (I have photos). Both are eye sores, but I currently have to answer to the HOA about as to why our contractors poured stain down the drain. The wood that was damaged is not repairable (I have photos). The only resolution that I will accept is for [redacted] to return our property and refund our money.
