The water damage at this property, ***, Seattle, occurred before Christmas 2018. Designbuild offered to do the mitigation and begin the restoration process immediately. They did the tear down and drying out process then. After many delays and workers not showing up half of the time, with no real time schedule, most of the work and correcting several mistakes, having to redo some of the work, was completed before Easter. Since the upstairs toilet was installed incorrectly, another water leak occurred and the downstairs ceiling had to be partly redone. Mr. C sent an estimate to the insurance company for $35,484. The insurance paid $11,175 according to his bid. On /26/19 I gave him a check for $16,470 to cover expenses. So his remaining balance was $7,839. However, he overcharged for work that was not completed or not done: dining room carpet, pad, cleaning, ceramic tiles in the amount of $8,577. Therefore, $738 were overpaid. Then he wanted to replace the bedroom carpet and carpet on stairs and finish the repair work. My daughter gave him a check for $7,826 on March 19, 2019. This work has not been done to date. Therefore, he owes $7,826 + $738 for a total of $8,564 for work that has not been done.

I found this company through Home Advisors.com The owner of Designbuild LLC comes across as professional on the day of commiting to a project; however, he does not follow through. He said he would complete my project in one day and he did not. He did not show up the next day as the son said he would and did not call. The owner did come after multiple texts and calls but did not finish the job. He asked me to write the check to him instead of the company for the amount plus tax. I paid him and He said he would come today and he has not come or called. Very unreliable

5/23/17 discovered a flood in my upstairs. I turned off main water source. called ***. I was referred to" Ron *** "with Design Build LLC. I did cleanup as much water as possible, He said" I will take care of it all, no worries, I will deal with the Ins,and all of it." In My panic, I put complete trust in him. He said" it would be done in 1 month , maybe 2 at the most", It has now been near 5 months. He did start that day. Ripped out all the soaked carpets Dry wall. He took all the pictures of damage. I did all the water cleaning up, moving furniture. The ins. adjuster came next day 5/24. Ron and Paul did the walk thru. they agreed on the fees for all the service. As work began Ron asked for $ The checks had to be co-signed with my Mortgage holder. I had 3 checks total. First check for $15,250.30, 2nd was flooring for $5,023.62. Ron said" make checks to him personally to avoid taxes". First check I gave was for $10,000 , 2nd was for $ 4,000 3rd was for $6,000 Many many times asked to see the invoices for work as it was accomplished to stay with in the $20,000 allotted from Ins co. He never did, not even once. He said" not to worry". I had to repeatedly ,contact him about inquiring what was taking so long to get done? Most time no responses. Or he would just ignore all texts, emails ph. calls. He would do as minimal as possible or not show or even call. Most times he was on vacation. Anyway, After 4+ months and a lot of issues, he said he was done. He is demanding $ 5,800.00 more than contract invoice He is now saying that I owe for more work done. He is accusing me of with holding money from Ins, I never agreed to pay more than what the ins, co had paid. He has lost all control of the truth from so many lies he's told. NOW he is threatening me with a lien against my house unless I pay. Any amount over was due to all his own extra time and expenses from damages to my home as well as poor work needing repair, None of wish I am liable
