Revdex.com spoke to Mike at business and the following was relayed: This was a custom railing jobThe job required a special piece for the railing that was on back-order for the last months as it is only made once a yearI had been talking to her husbandThe part has finally came in and the
installation will be completed tomorrowI have not taken any money for the job as it was known the part was going to be delayed and the job was to be paid for upon completion

If MrShas been
in the industry for years, he was either operating as an employee of other
companies, or as an independent contractorThere was no undermining done by Mr& Mrs***There were
several times that MrSrefused to provide us thorough information as
requested, and we were forced to verify what information had been provided,
with the other parties involvedMr& Mrs*** don’t feel a whole house
renovation was a “simple” scope of work. This has many levels of repairsThere
were no walls missing, just deterioratedThe home was built in and had
deferred maintenance, as we all knew at the start of this projectMr
& Mrs*** has no way of knowing whether we were notified within minutes
or not, however we were notified the same day on To
date the breach in the wall, has not been protected from the harsh winter
elementsNumerous requests to temporarily protect the homes integrity have
been ignored by MrS.The two photos shown here of Kitchen and Living Room are
the only notification we have ever received from MrSregarding damage
to the homeNo other decay or water damage was advised, nor any additional
photos showing suchIn fact, he insisted that the home is in great shape
structurallyThis is a statementMr
Stook it upon himself to proceed with gutting the entire house without
our prior approvalIncluding removing the original
wood flooring from the living roomWe discovered that he removed them by his
photos he sent to usNever being discussed to remove in advanceWe were very
specific in our scope of work approved from the beginningIt was not approved
nor agreed upon to gut the entire house.Mr& Mrs*** were
concerned that MrSfelt he had a blank check to rehab the home. We had an agreement in place with a budgetThe further we went with Mr
Swe found the budget increased at least timesIn fact, MrS
removed items from the budget to keep it from increasing without our approval
Our main concern was to rehab the home within a budgetSince our intention was
to make it a rental home, we don’t
see any point in investing in excess of what the entire home value would beSince we are not familiar with NY state law,
we relied on MrS.’s knowledgeWe find it very hard to believe that in
MrS.’s years of experience, he has never come across a
home that contained asbestosHe admitted he was not familiar with the process
and that he was learning on this job at our expenseThis is a statement from
MrS., as we never requested MrSto use a non-certified company
Mr& Mrs*** agreed to hire an architect, survey and abatement
companyWe asked MrSto obtain bids from multiple companies authorized
to do the work necessaryWe only received bids from company for each aspect
of work. These companies were approved
by us to make progress and not delay the
job any furtherWe knew there was no way around thisWe wanted a safe
environment for our future tenantsThis is a statement by MrSWe were never notified
of the wiring or that the furnace venting was unsafeBy MrSinspecting
the wiring exposed within the attic, panel, and other areas prior to giving us
his proposal, he could see what type of wiring the home hadThe only wiring we
were anticipating was for the routing of new construction such as in the
kitchen and additional bathroom we will be addingThis is the first
we are hearing from MrSabout the mold issuesThis is a statement by Mr
S. We anticipated gutting the
existing bathroom due to its condition, as shown in our original proposal, and
to date this has yet to be guttedSince MrSknows by his own admission
how dangerous mold can be, why was this area left untouched and he allowed his
employees to continue working in an unsafe environment? This is a true statement by MrSWe did have to force MrSto
only communicate via email because of the information we were verbally being
told and what was being done were two different storiesWe now have proper
records showing his progress and information being reported to usWe
really had no choice but to proceed in this manner to protect ourselves and the
propertyMrSrefused to answer direct question from us to him in our
emailsWe asked him to provide clear and concise answers, along with weekly
updates with photos in writing so we knew what was being done at the property
This request was not complied with by MrSMr& Mrs*** have no verified proof what efforts or time spent
at the home as no time sheets or records have been given to usTo date we only
have received a spreadsheet showing, he has paid his employees for four days
work out of almost two months. The last
date of work being 12/22/This is also a statement
from MrSWe were not trying to run this job from miles away as
MrSstatedWe entrusted MrSto run the job for us since we
couldn’t be there ourselves due to the distance involvedHowever, once we discovered that numerous vendors had not been paid
for services completed months earlier, this sent us a red flagWe were forced
to contact these 3rd party vendors and
one after another stated they were still waiting to be paidTo date of this
original complaint, MrS./we, the homeowners, still have approx$
in outstanding payments that MrS
has signed and approved forMrSwas given $43,in two payments
to start the renovations. Although
he has been paid for all third-party vendors and demolition, the demolition has not been completed
100%. There is no reason why these 3rd party companies have not yet been
paid, or for one of the companies to be written a bad check due to lack of
fundsWe are the ones who will be ultimately responsible to pay the 3rd party
companies or risk them placing a lien on our home for non-paymentWe never
called the Town of ***, as MrSclaims, to persuade them to change their procedures. We
did however, contact the HVAC company directlyWhen we received the bid from
them it contained only a partial list of what we were quoted on MrS.’s original proposal, and
actually had a different furnace unit all togetherWith no response from MrSto provide
us with an accurate quote, we were forced to contact the HVAC directlyIn
business, this is known as “Bait and Switch”. We contacted the HVAC company directly and asked
them to requote us what we initially were quoted on the proposal from ANA
ConstructionMrSdoesn’t seem to understand that we
are the homeowner, and we are paying him for services at our discretionWe had
to ask him to refrain from making personal comments about us such as, “people aren’t comfortable with you here”, “I never thought there were
people like this”, and “I am the contractor NOT
YOU!!!!!!!”This shows his lack of professionalism and how his
rude comments can make his customers feel uncomfortableWe feel that if the Revdex.com does delete this complaint, it would be going
against the purpose of giving consumers a place to file a grievanceAnd
educating the consumer when selecting a company to do business withWe
have been threatened by MrSthat if we did not send him $35,
additional funds, he would put a lien on the homeWe already felt threatened by
his claim of the pipes bursting due to the cold weather, and that’s why we sent him the
additional money in January to get the mechanicals completedEven though he
had the funds on hand to pay the mechanical companies in full, he never
instructed them to go ahead and get startedWe don’t believe this statement is
trueHere is why: We were instructed via an attorney that spoke directly to
MrS., that if we decide to pursue legal action, he will make this longer
and more expensive for us. We have asked
him to provide us bank statements showing that our funds are actually still on
hand and have not been spent elsewhereHe has refusedWe have asked him to
pay the 3rd party vendors on our behalf with our
funds he has in his possessionHe has refusedThese are actions that are
retaliatory against the customer’s
dissatisfaction on a company’s
performanceNot of a company that can accept the fact of being terminated, for
whatever reason, and live with itMrSmentioned to us that he was
interested in putting this job in his portfolioPerhaps indicating
that this was a job of a particular size he hadn’t
already completedIt’s
evident that ANA Construction does not have their customers best interestLastly, we have been truthful in
our complaint and kept it on a professional levelWe suggest that anyone
looking to hire a company or individual to perform a job of this size, do a
background checkNot only on the company, but also on the ownerHad we done
this beforehand, we would have discovered that their background is in worse shape
than our kitchen wall as shown in the photosI don't know how much more I need to provide to show you that this personMrSis willfully holding on to our money of over $35,500.00, and refusing to refund it since we fired him back on January 18, Everything is listed in our initial complaint as well as our response to MrS.'s response At this point we are willing to give arbitration a try through the Revdex.com

This is a response to the Revdex.com complaint ANA Construction received from Mr. & Mrs. [redacted]. I have been
in the construction industry for 26 years. I have never had customers like Mr.
& Mrs. [redacted]. These people tried to undermine my subcontractors, staff and
I. The reason this complaint was...

made by Mr.& Mrs.
[redacted] are as follows: ANA
Construction Services had an executed contract to renovate this newly acquired
investment property Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] purchased in September of 2016. The work
scope was simple, turn the house into a maintenance free income property so
they can collect rent and have no worries while living in [redacted]. When we started taking cabinets out from the kitchen,
look what we found…(picture). Walls missing, Decay, and major
structure damage. My superintendent
immediately took pictures and informed me what was found. These pictures were
forwarded to the owner via email with minutes. We noticed that
the decay and severe water damage continued throughout the house. see pictures
below: We made the
decision to proceed in demoing all areas so everything was exposed and can be
properly addressed. Mr. & Mrs.
[redacted] were too worried about how much money they wanted to invest into this
property. Because of the Structure damage, An Architect and Building
Permit ([redacted]) would be required. Also, Asbestos was discovered
in areas of the house. As per NY State law,
a licensed asbestos remediation company MUST properly dispose. Mr. & Mrs.
[redacted] want a non certified company to do the work and save money. I advised them that we need to
follow the state laws and live with it. New mechanical
were needed. We found hazardous conditions with the electrical wiring behind
the walls. Not to mention the venting for the furnace was unsafe. Again, Mr. &
Mrs. [redacted] wanted ANA Construction to jeopardize its reputation with the Town
of [redacted] Building Dept. to save money. Mold was another Issue… See
Picture Below. Mold needs to be
remediated, or it can spread and turn very dangerous. Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] wanted to again save money and reuse area. As soon as I
starting putting updated budgets together to fix every problem that was
discover, Mr. & Mrs. [redacted] did a 180 on me. Not accepting phone calls, all
communication was done through email. I have spent hours meeting with
subcontractors at night, weekend and even on holidays,
trying to save them money. My
efforts went unnoticed by them. I have tried to work with these
people to make this project a success. It was an impossible task.. They
were trying to run a job 3,000  miles
away. They undermined
every effort, calling Subcontractors, vendors and even the Town of [redacted] Building Dept. to try to change their procedures to benefit themselves. Like I stated
before, during the last 26 years of my construction career, I never thought
there were people like this… I ask that you please delete this
from my Revdex.com Profile. ANA
Construction is committed to it’s customers and always looks out for their best
interest. Sincerely, Michael S. Vice President of ANA
Construction Services, Inc.
