Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2015/08/27) */ In response to clients claim that we have not resolved issues with the floor We have been to the house numerous times to address warranty opportunities that have come aboutLast visit we took care of the items they had concerns with, all minor except for the floorThe floor has two areas of concern, one of which was a squeak outside the bathroom and the second a separation between boards on one course of the floorThe other is not a warrantyable item and that is the slight separation where you can see the woods natural color, this is due to the separation of a floor and the fact that they chose a dark stain, so when the natural expansion and contraction occurs in a wood floor you see the color difference, this is not a through body stain and is done per industry standards The floor squeak we addressed by opening the existing finished ceiling of the basement only to find that the existing subfloor was not secured to the framing structure, this was not part of Design First's scope of work, but we fixed the situation since we had already opened the ceilingUpon completion of this the client informed us that there was another squeak, and that it would be substantial work as the location was above existing ducting, again, Design First did not do work to the existing subfloor Second item they mention is the separation in the floor, which we have been in contract with July 10, original warranty items completed including squeak in floor July 11, flooring contractor at the house to determine remedy to separation Informed we would not be able to do the repair immediately August 7, communication again with client that we would schedule within a week period, we are scheduling for the first week of September All text communciations have been saved to substantiate this information There is a difference of opinion on the squeaks, Design First did not remove the subfloor or sleepers that were on the floor, we added a layer of plywood to strengthen the floor due to the condition of the existing subfloor, the squeaks are minimal and to be expected in an older home, the second floor Design First installed new and there is no issues with this floorClient needs to understand the floor is not new and there will be squeaking

In response to clients claim that we have not resolved issues with the floor.
We have been to the house numerous times to address warranty opportunities that have come about. Last visit we took care of the items they had concerns with,...

all minor except for the floor. The floor has two areas of concern, one of which was a squeak outside the bathroom and the second a separation between boards on one course of the floor. The other is not a warrantyable item and that is the slight separation where you can see the woods natural color, this is due to the normal separation of a floor and the fact that they chose a dark stain, so when the natural expansion and contraction occurs in a wood floor you see the color difference, this is not a through body stain and is done per industry standards.
The floor squeak we addressed by opening the existing finished ceiling of the basement only to find that the existing subfloor was not secured to the framing structure, this was not part of Design First's scope of work, but we fixed the situation since we had already opened the ceiling. Upon completion of this the client informed us that there was another squeak, and that it would be substantial work as the location was above existing ducting, again, Design First did not do work to the existing subfloor.
Second item they mention is the separation in the floor, which we have been in contract with
July 10, original warranty items completed including squeak in floor
July 11, flooring contractor at the house to determine remedy to separation
Informed we would not be able to do the repair immediately.
August 7, communication again with client that we would schedule within a 3 week period, we are scheduling for the first week of September

There is a difference of opinion on the squeaks, Design First did not remove the subfloor or sleepers that were on the floor, we added a layer of plywood to strengthen the floor due to the condition of the existing subfloor, the squeaks are minimal and to be expected in an older home, the second floor Design First installed new and there is no issues with this floor. Client needs to understand the floor is not new and there will be squeaking.
