I am writing with information pertaining to ID #[redacted]. The client [redacted] came into the salon on 9/30/15 signed a contract and paid for $786.00 of Hot Heads Brand Tape-In Hair Extensions. The signed contract (file attached) states that the hair product and service of applying hair...

extensions are NON-REFUNDABLE. On 10/12/15 the service of applying the Tape In extensions was performed on Mrs. [redacted] (cost $250.00). The hair extension service was performed by the stylist and salon assistant as is usual with all our hair extension services. The assistant clarifies, dries and preps the hair followed with the stylist applying and styling the hair extensions. There was no compliant from Mrs. [redacted] at the time of the service stating any sort of discomfort. Our first contact from Mrs. [redacted] was on 10/22/15 (10 days later) stating that she had irritation on her scalp. She then informed me that she was allergic to latex. I offered to have a stylist stay late that evening to remove her extensions promptly for her and she was unable to come into the salon until 10/26/15 (4 days later). During this time I spoke with both our distributer and the hair extension company themselves. They informed me that there was no latex in the adhesive, in fact they were medical grade adhesive and hypoallergenic. Mrs. [redacted] came into the salon on 10/26/15 and our stylist removed the extensions and gave her a complimentary blow dry style. At that time the stylist performing the service saw no irritation or sores on the scalp. The following week I was contacted by Mrs. [redacted] wanting a refund of the hair extensions and service. I explained that we cannot refund the hair or service because there was no defect with the hair or service themselves. I also stated that this policy comes from the hair extensions company to us (a certified hot heads extension account) for safety and health concerns. I offered for her to have another form of extensions, one that does not have any form of adhesive, done and we would give a discount on our services. This still did not satisfy her and I instructed her to contact the hair extension company directly as this was all I could do. Mrs. [redacted] sent the following (attached) pictures documenting the irritation to the scalp. The irritation was not near the hair extensions or tabs themselves. After many phone calls between myself, our distributor and hot heads corporate offices we did not find any defect in the hair or service performed. Hot Heads Corporation did say they would test and inspect the hair to look for a possible defect. They stated that the hair would need sent from the salon to the corporate offices at the owners expense. If in fact a defect was found they would then replace the hair and refund her for all shipping costs (no refund for the hair would be given). I called Mrs. [redacted] to let her know that we would gladly send back the hair to be tested but would need advance payment of the shipping costs to do so. If they did find a defect we would also refund all shipping costs. She informed me she would not be spending another penny on this situation and she would be down to pick up the hair extensions. The hair still remains at our salon waiting for her to pick it up.

Review: I bought very expensive tape in hair extensions through this salon. I paid a lot of money to have them put in. Little did I know part of the adhesive was made with a type of latex. I am highly allergic to anything made with latex or similar to it. My stylist didnt ask me any questions or inform me of anything about the hair extensions. She was very short with me and I was not happy with my service. Immediately my head started itching after having them put in. She said that was normal. I then paid and left. Several days later I developed sores next to all the tabs of the hair extensions on my head. I contacted the owner personally and told her my situation she said it's definitely the latex and to get them taken out immediately. I then did so . I asked for a refund for both the hair and service especially considering I'm not able to wear it. The owner is not willing to work with me at all and shows no concern whatsoever that this has happened to me as a client who has spent a lot of money in her salon. I also have been inconvenienced with a lot of time and money involved trying to fix this matter.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology for all the inconveniences and a refund from the service.
