[redacted] , Thank you for the opportunity to respond to case # [redacted] involving Mr [redacted] and the unfortunate circumstances that led to his complaint First, I'd like to point out that we at Destination Autoworks did not sell him this vehicle, nor did anybody here recommend that he make the purchaseHe did bring the vehicle to us to have it inspected for mechanical condition on June 11th, The vehicle (a [redacted] ) had 99,miles on it at that time and the check engine light was illuminated indicating a failed catalytic converterWe performed a maintenance service on the vehicle during that same visit and Mr [redacted] was charged $I don't know where he came up with the $he claims in his complaint, nor the $4,totalMr [redacted] has, in fact, spent $2,with usNot an insignificant sum, but very fair for work that was performed over the course of almost a year and a half and certainly not the overblown number Mr [redacted] recalls Second, Mr [redacted] seems to be under the impression that because we inspected the vehicle we are now somehow responsible for any repairs the vehicle may needWe inspected the vehicle; we did not sell him a warranty nor indicate that the vehicle would never need repairs in the future Mr [redacted] also fails to mention that he got the vehicle stuck in the sand and that while trying to free it he overheated the engine and then it began knockingWhen the vehicle arrived at our shop it was VERY overfull with oilI pulled the dipstick myselfMr [redacted] had admitted to adding quarts, so I assumed it to be at least quarts overfullAt a later time he stated that not only had he added oil, but "another mechanic" also added quartsMr [redacted] claims that we caused the failure because of a faulty valve cover gasket repair, yet there are no signs of any leakage around the valve covers that we resealed, nor any evidence that the repair was conducted improperlyFurther, if the vehicle had left our shop with no oil in it, as Mr [redacted] is apparently trying to assert, it could not possibly have been driven for the 1,miles (and almost months) it covered between leaving our shop and being stuck in the sand where it suffered catastrophic failure At no point has Destination Autoworks done anything that could have led to the failure that Mr [redacted] 's vehicle experiencedAlso, we did offer to repair the vehicle at a steeply discounted rate (well below $5000) as a gesture of goodwillMr [redacted] declined the offer and called me a punkAt that point I terminated our conversation and he filed this complaint Again, I appreciate the opportunity to respond and I welcome any further questions or comments Sincerely, Marc P [redacted] , Owner, Destination Autoworks

Dear Ms***, My name is Marc P [redacted] and I am responding to the above referenced complaint on behalf of Destination Autoworks as well as myself personally as requested In his very first sentence Mr [redacted] states that he bought a used car with a malfunction indicator on the dash at the time of saleWe did not sell him the vehicle, recommend he purchase the vehicle nor profit in any way from the sale of the vehicle to him by another entityHe later states that the vehicle was brought to us times and "usually turned away"This is simply untrueWhile the vehicle did have to return multiple times for servicing due to a recurring fault indicator, at no time did we refuse service or even charge him for any time spent on diagnostics for multiple part failures, until his last visitI personally turned him away based on his aggressive, demeaning and threatening attitude towards one of my employees on a previous trip as well as his aggressive and condescending attitude towards me the very last time I saw himAs far as refunding charges to him; he himself states that he is ok with the (unrelated) hub repair which accounts for $of the $he is claimingThe remaining balance represents the wholesale price of a part that was not covered under his extended warrantyBecause he was not going to receive any assistance from his extended warranty provider, we sold him the part required at our invoice cost and charged him no labor whatsoever as a good faith gestureIt is worth noting that his warranty administrator has paid for NONE of the repairs made to his vehicle aside from the aformentioned hub assemblyAll prior repairs were paid for through a collaborative effort between Destination Autoworks and the original selling dealer in the spirit of assisting a mutual clientIt would appear that Mr [redacted] is blissfully ignorant of what he doesn't know In closing, I cannot see any reason to refund any payments made by Mr [redacted] nor his warranty providerAll repairs have been properly authorized and carried outMr [redacted] himself has been treated politely and with respect despite being obnoxious and combative throughout the processPersonally, it is surprising to me that a person would purchase a year old vehicle with over 90,miles on it with a known defect and then condemn a repair facility that went out of it's way to help him Thank you for your time, Marc P [redacted] Owner, Destination Autoworks [redacted] ***

Dear Ms. [redacted],  My name is Marc P[redacted] and I am responding to the above referenced complaint on behalf of Destination Autoworks as well as myself personally as requested.  In his very first sentence Mr. [redacted] states that he bought a used car with a malfunction indicator on the dash at the time of sale. We did not sell him the vehicle, recommend he purchase the vehicle nor profit in any way from the sale of the vehicle to him by another entity. He later states that the vehicle was brought to us 10 times and "usually turned away". This is simply untrue. While the vehicle did have to return multiple times for servicing due to a recurring fault indicator, at no time did we refuse service or even charge him for any time spent on diagnostics for multiple part failures, until his last visit. I personally turned him away based on his aggressive, demeaning and threatening attitude towards one of my employees on a previous trip as well as his aggressive and condescending attitude towards me the very last time I saw him. As far as refunding charges to him; he himself states that he is ok with the (unrelated) hub repair which accounts for $100 of the $284.67 he is claiming. The remaining balance represents the wholesale price of a part that was not covered under his extended warranty. Because he was not going to receive any assistance from his extended warranty provider, we sold him the part required at our invoice cost and charged him no labor whatsoever as a good faith gesture. It is worth noting that his warranty administrator has paid for NONE of the repairs made to his vehicle aside from the aformentioned hub assembly. All prior repairs were paid for through a collaborative effort between Destination Autoworks and the original selling dealer in the spirit of assisting a mutual client. It would appear that Mr. [redacted] is blissfully ignorant of what he doesn't know.  In closing, I cannot see any reason to refund any payments made by Mr. [redacted] nor his warranty provider. All repairs have been properly authorized and carried out. Mr. [redacted] himself has been treated politely and with respect despite being obnoxious and combative throughout the process. Personally, it is surprising to me that a person would purchase a 7 year old vehicle with over 90,000 miles on it with a known defect and then condemn a repair facility that went out of it's way to help him.  Thank you for your time,  Marc P[redacted]  Owner, Destination Autoworks  [redacted] [redacted]

Big modern garage with comfortable waiting area. Mark and all his staff went "above and beyond" any service we have ever received. Will always be our place to go for car problems--they are not satisfied until they get it right, are fair priced and are super nice to deal with--many thanks you guys---Gary Lamouria, Vacationer from Alaska

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response.  Marc the owner of Destination Auto first started yelling saying "Jesus Christ" before I called him a punk.  I have not had time to add every bill, but I will agree they did around $3,000 to $4,000 of work on my car.  Before purchasing the car, Marc quoted me $550 to install the catalytic converter.  I went have it installed and they convinced me to change spark plugs instead to see if that would correct the error message of a faulty catalytic converter.  Destination Auto charged me close to $1200 to change the catalytic converter that they quoted $550.  I did come close to getting stuck in the sand, but did not get stuck in the sand.  I revved the rpms a bit to keep from getting stuck when I noticed the car smelling of smoke.  I thought is was the clutch as I further drove the car it started to smoke.  I pulled over & stopped.  I let the car rest and there was no oil in the car.  Marc the owner of Destination Auto told me this was normal.  They worked on the car 2 & 1/2 months ago and said they fixed the leek.  They either did a faulty repair or left the car with minimal oil and forgot to fill it.  The other mechanic I brought it to said the engine burt because there was no oil in it.  Oil was added after the fact.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted],   Thank you for the opportunity to respond to case #[redacted] involving Mr. [redacted] and the unfortunate circumstances that led to his complaint.
First, I'd like to point out that we at Destination Autoworks did not sell him this vehicle, nor...

did anybody here recommend that he make the purchase. He did bring the vehicle to us to have it inspected for mechanical condition on June 11th, 2014. The vehicle (a 2005 [redacted]) had 99,697 miles on it at that time and the check engine light was illuminated indicating a failed catalytic converter. We performed a maintenance service on the vehicle during that same visit and Mr. [redacted] was charged $170.43. I don't know where he came up with the $400 he claims in his complaint, nor the $4,000 total. Mr. [redacted] has, in fact, spent $2,939.60 with us. Not an insignificant sum, but very fair for work that was performed over the course of almost a year and a half and certainly not the overblown number Mr. [redacted] recalls.
Second, Mr. [redacted] seems to be under the impression that because we inspected the vehicle we are now somehow responsible for any repairs the vehicle may need. We inspected the vehicle; we did not sell him a warranty nor indicate that the vehicle would never need repairs in the future.
Mr. [redacted] also fails to mention that he got the vehicle stuck in the sand and that while trying to free it he overheated the engine and then it began knocking. When the vehicle arrived at our shop it was VERY overfull with oil. I pulled the dipstick myself. Mr. [redacted] had admitted to adding 3 quarts, so I assumed it to be at least 3 quarts overfull. At a later time he stated that not only had he added oil, but "another mechanic" also added 3 quarts. Mr. [redacted] claims that we caused the failure because of a faulty valve cover gasket repair, yet there are no signs of any leakage around the valve covers that we resealed, nor any evidence that the repair was conducted improperly. Further, if the vehicle had left our shop with no oil in it, as Mr. [redacted] is apparently trying to assert, it could not possibly have been driven for the 1,701 miles (and almost 3 months) it covered between leaving our shop and being stuck in the sand where it suffered catastrophic failure.
At no point has Destination Autoworks done anything that could have led to the failure that Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle experienced. Also, we did offer to repair the vehicle at a steeply discounted rate (well below $5000) as a gesture of goodwill. Mr. [redacted] declined the offer and called me a punk. At that point I terminated our conversation and he filed this complaint.
Again, I appreciate the opportunity to respond and I welcome any further questions or comments.
   Sincerely,
   Marc P[redacted], Owner, Destination Autoworks
