Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/10/06) */
We did all that the home owner had askedWe tore off old shingles replaced some decking and installed guttersConcerning his gutters, he has a in decline on the area where gutters was put, the contract that *** signed was stated
that we put ft and one down spout on the left sideThe in drop shows that the down spout needed to be on other end he wanted on the others side which would cause gutters to show in of fascia, we did come back out and also brought I city inspector out with us who when we were there inspector told us how to installWe did but he still needs a down spout on other end to drain right which the home Onwer did not want unless we put a French drain, and wanted us to put for freeGutter man said he would not doAnd the in decking it is a issue with the building of the home, all it was required is a brace under neith and we did this, on the ridge ventsBecause of the slope of his roof you don't want a big cut back or with high windy rain or snow it would leakThe power vents I have pitchers on my phone and the installers phone showing we took out properly and put wing wire caps and black tape the way it was supposed to be, inspector told me that was rightThe inspector left the job and told me and the gutter guy he was satisfied
I have a complaint from a *** ***, who has made some statements
I want to say I have a inspector who was there on the job who told me and gutter guy that what we did was to his satisfaction*** had made a comment that we yelled at himI want to say that the whole time we were there he was yelling at us, again inspector was there to witnessAlso a neighbor herd him yelling at us and also told me that *** is in the habit of yelling almost daily, they hear it and said that they know his wife's name to start with a B and end with a HSo I am not the one who is in the habit of yellingAlso we did come back and install ridge vents and when we left the job last time he said he was satisfied and shook my guys hand
I have witnesses to verify this
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2014/10/21) */
The contract did say down spout for the gutters because that's what Roger Hughes owner of Destiny Roofing said it needed when he did the estimate as far as me not letting him put one on the other end without french drains that is true but this took place months after the job was done and where he wanted to put it all the water would spill out onto my driveway and flood my garage causing damage to my home there is abouta foot section in the middle of the foot of gutters that overflow and the missing piece of decking was not an issue with the building of the home when all the old shingles were taking off they seem that there was no decking there and they chose to shingle over it instead of putting new decking down which in my contract said they would and instead of cutting the decking back when they came out so that they could replace it properly they pried up on the decking and put a 2xthere to cover the hole so there is still not decking there as far as the ridge vent goes if you do not cut the decking back before installing the ridge vent it does not actually vent and they did not cut any decking at all in the event that I never wanted are still on my roof instead of him taking them out the wires to the power vents were taped up and put in the box but only after I complained about live wires hanging in my attic for about a week that's what I told him if my house burnt down his insurance would be responsible because at first he was refusing to go up there and do it saying it was an electrician's job I am the one that called the city inspector to come out and inspect the job because Roger Hughes of Destiny roofing did not file for a work permit on this job until a month or so after he had completed it theyas in the city of wagner contacted roger after me complaining and make him come get the permit the inspector that came out would not even climb onto the roof to inspect the job he done that from the ground I have never told Roger Hughes or anyone from destiny roofing that I was satisfied with the job they done I do not have confidence in their work nor in their word this is why I am requesting a refund so that I can have the job done right
Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/10/31) */
In response to the rebuttal of ***We have repaired everything that he had issue with even if it was poor construction on the homeThe ridge vents were added , the structural issue on the rafters which we were not hired to repair was fixed by us, and ridge vents installed according to the manufacturers specificationsThere was already a gap where the ridge vents wentSince his roof doesn't have much of a pitch we couldn't cut any further or water would come inYou cannot determine the necessary gap for ridge vents from the attic due to the beam that runs at the apex of the raftersThe gutters installed are what he requestedThe slope of his yard runs toward his home (his home being lower than the yard) and water runs toward itWe have asked him twice if he wanted us to take out the low profile vents that were first installed but he did not want it.The city inspector came and inspected everything and signed off on all his issuesWe are not responsible for other issues with his homeThe gutter installer, my crew, nor myself will be subject to any more abusive behavior by the customer even if it means having a negative mark through the Revdex.com

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 23, 2014/12/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
the gutter issue is not due to a structural issue of my house and when the gutters were put up they put the downspout where they wanted it they never ask me anything about where it was to be placed when they came back Roger Hughes is correct when he says I refused to let him put a downspout at the other end of my guttering but the reasoning is because he wanted to point it out at my driveway which would have flooded my garage when I told him it would flood my house he said that's not my problem in regards to them shoving the 2xin the hole and knowing it to my rafters all he had to do was run decking out to the end rafter I have him on recording once I got them back to my house several months later telling his workers they did do that part wrong that's when they shoved the 2xin it to fill the hole and as far as the cutting back the decking for the ridge vent all I've asked him to do was install it the way the manufacturer says to and the inspector that he says told him everything was up to code never got on a ladder and never got on the roof he just looked from the ground and the events that he cut holes in my roof to install that I never asked for are still on my roof waiting to be removed and decking replaced I am completely dissatisfied with almost every aspect of the job destiny roofing done I just want the roof I paid for and for the guttering to work properly not pool up with water in the middle section and overflow like a waterfall

Destiny roofing has done all they can do for *** ***About gutters, again I have witnesses including the city inspectorAbout the gutters*** wanted gutters, he said that he wanted gutters in front of house with one down spoutHe wanted down spout where there old French drain wasWhen the gutter guy came he found out that *** needed more than one down spout because of structure of the front*** refused to pay for extra down spout so gutter guy did not put second down spout on we told him along with city inspector that he needed to to make it work, *** wanted us to pay for it along with a French drainThat's like having someone remodel your house and while they are doing it they discover something wrong and tell home owner and home owner say we'll fix it but I am not paying for itWith the roof there is nothing wrong with itI have several pics showing that his structure is not good and many rafter braces are missing*** wanted ft of ridge vents his atic only being around to sq ftAccording to chart he only needed to ft of ridge vent with a in cuttHe wanted ft therefor it did not call for in cut which *** was insisting a in cut because he looked up on InternetThe specs on Internet on using a new construction with a pitch ***'s house is not new and only a and bad structureHe does not know what he is talking aboutAgain city inspector told me personally every thing destiny roofing did was up to his codeI can not do anything else for ***Also I sent my pics to the GAF and according them them I did right and would back my workThe roof is done according to specs and with nails and ice and water in valleys and around fire placeDestiny roofing has went above and beyond to make *** *** happyBut we refuse to pay out of our pocket to add another down spout and French drains when we told him that in order for it to work right he would needWhich he refused unless we pay for it

First I want to say that it's a shame that people can use Revdex.com to get something from a contractor that is not even a part of there agreement. Now concerning [redacted]'s roof. She claims we did not put ice and water down when first we have...

recites showing we bought 4 rolls of ice and water, also the part we put it was all over a 2 - 12 pitch roof, proof is there is no leaks there and anybody who knows any at all on this would know if we did not there would be leaks. According to chimney we also put ice and water on bottom sealed then put felt and step flashing witch also we have recites and sealed again and then shingled, her leak on chimney was she had no cap at all on top, I told her and she bought and has not had leak again there, also on front of house there were 3 layers of shingles and at some point someone put fascia and siding on facia even with the 3 layers also they put gutters on to be even with the 3 layers when we tear off it brings the leavel of shingles down which at this time is not even with facia, we were not hired out to tear gutters off or remove siding and facia we were Strictly told to just reroof the home only. The roof was all done according to a signed contract. 6 nails ice and water new flashing and a 30 year shingle. What I am going to do is have a rep from GAF come and inspect and right a report. Just because someone has said well they may not have done all right, well sorry but it is all done according to specifications of the manufactures requirements. Again it is someone who thinks that even facia sidling even though it is not on a singed contract should be done out of contractors pocket.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Destiny Roofing claims to be a roofing contractor. What happens when a roofing contractor incurs an unforeseen major nonconformity on a roof he is installing? Does contractor consult with the home owner on the solution or put a cheap fix on the roof? Destiny Roofing took it on themselves to lay a roof without considering the hazards that would be created by installing shingles that has a dip in the roof and the shingles turn up on the end creating a water spout to run water under the shingles. Destiny Roofing did not consult with or give me a chance to call a contractor to do what he says he was not able to do.
I am sure Mr. Hughes has receipts for lots of rolls of ice and water, he is a contractor. I would be willing to tear up enough shingles to prove there is not ice and water rolls on all the 2 - 12 pitch roof or around the chimney which is why it leaked. As Mr. Hughes knows leaks do not rot wood immediately and will take several years to be noticeable on a low pitched roof. As for the chimney, it leaked as soon as the roof was finished (did not leak before), Destiny Roofing put sealer around the bottom of the chimney to keep it from leaking, this is a temporary fix, as soon as the sealer cracks from the sun it will begin leaking again in about three years. A cap was on the chimney but since Destiny Roofing felt it needed to be replaced that was done about six months later. This has no effect on the chimney leaking.
No one asked Destiny Roofing to tear gutters off, we have done that ourselves. A GAF inspection report would be a great idea. Please get that to me as soon as possible.
Destiny Roofing is no longer entitled to do work on my house. As he says he is not qualified to do this work. Since he was paid to roof the home he will be expected to pay the contractor to repair what he installed incorrectly.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/06/24) */
Destiny Roofing first is sorry that the home owner feels the way they do and seems to be unhappy, we will comply with home owner as long as she lets us pick a contracter because $4700 is a lot to cut fascia and tear 3 rolls of shingles back and replace. I told her on phone we would come out when she is there and fix and she said when she got back in 2 weeks. Again the facia and siding and gutters was something we were not ask to do, I was out of town my crew if it is not on there work order they don't do it because in times past we have done extra and home owners would say we did not ask you to do and did not pay extra. If I had been in country and saw it I may have said something. To see what home owner wanted to do. Again we are sorry the home owner is unhappy and willing to fix problem as soon as she gets back. On the ice and water, if we tear shingles off and she discovers ice and water then she will have to pay to have all of it redone. And I will expect a apologee for basically calling my wife a liter since she is the one who went and bought and her self got on roof to make sure it was down. The fact that a 2 12 pitch roof has not leak should be proof it has ice and water. Other wise it would leak. The chimney has not leaked since and it is not going to. I would like to say the we received no phone called about this issue until 2 years later. Once again Destiny roofing is sorry that home owner is upset and willing to fix problem even if I have to bring another crew in to fix. And we will fix this problem how the home owner wants. If she ask us to take shingles off of 2 / 12 pitch and again I am 100% confident there is ice and water then she will be required to pay us or someone to replace that. Also according to our paper work home owner cannot chose a contractor they have to let roofer choose there's. This is called first rights to cure law.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 13, 2015/07/07) */
Destiny Roofing has paid another contractor to repair the roof.
