Unfortunately, when I came into the dealership with my father, he was upset at the cost I asked the owner for the parts and he said that the scrapper had already taken them He showed me two dirty filters and one other part that I could not identifyThe rest of the parts were supposedly scrapped When I explained to my husband what happened, he accompanied me back to the shop to inform the owner that it was against the law not to offer the parts back At no time were we rude or aggressive to him We are both professional and my husband, having plus years in the auto industry, has much knowledge on auto repair and regulations As a result, he brought the parts to usWhy did he tell me they were already scrapped? When he asked why a cabin filter was checked when he came in for an oil change (this was a cost of approximately $just to remove the filter plus additional cost to replace it) he claimed that they always check that filter and, if it does not need to be replaced, the eat the costI do not have the original bill with me but, as I have minutes to respond, I wanted to add that As far as having a family member look at the parts, my son-in-law, who always does his repairs as he is a registered auto mechanic, looked at the parts and he said that the parts were fine We also will bring the parts to two other mechanics for their statements on the viability of these parts My father always went to a shop for his oil change and decided to take it to Bethford, as it is close to his home He looked at me very sad when we left the place and said "they got me." We did call the owner back after we got the results of checking the parts and he offered us $total plus we had to take the old calipers off and put on the new ones This would actually only be $off of his bill because we paid the $to get the parts back We told him that was unacceptable and therefore, we contacted the Revdex.com Thank you again for your help in this matter *** ***

I am the owner and service manager of Bethford Auto & Tire. I am an independently owned and operated smallbusiness. I have been at this location since June 1984-33 years. I do not take advantage of any customer forany reason, regardless of age, race, gender; it's just not done at my shop.On July...

20, 2017, Mr. [redacted] came into my service office and requested an oil change. I talked to him, took his information and wrote a work order. When I pulled his vehicle into the shop, I noticed his brake pedalwas very low. It was approximately 75% travel and 25% reserve. This is quite low for a brake pedal. I thenmentioned to [redacted] that his brake pedal was low and asked him if he wanted us to remove his wheels and checkthe condition of his brake system. He felt that was a good idea. After inspection of the four wheel disc brakesystem, we found his brake calipers were seized in place causing the low brake pedal and reducing the brakingoperation of his vehicle. This would increase the stopping distance of his vehicle. I then asked [redacted] if hewould like me to give him an estimate to replace the brake calipers and told him we c.ould reuse his brake padsand rotors but the better job would be to replace them at the same time, since they had to be removed to changethe calipers. I also showed him his air filter and cabin air filter which were both very dirty. I recommended allshould be replaced, I printed a complete estimate, sat in my service office and went over the total cost of the oilchange and brake work with a parts and labor break down. I have never been a high pressure sales person andfelt [redacted] fully understood everything we discussed. I didn't know his age nor did I see any sign he had anyproblem making a decision regarding his auto service needs. He did not say anything about wanting or needinga friend or family member to help him in a decision regarding the repairs. I had no way of knowing or anyreason to believe he had any problem with his thinking or understanding, he seemed to fully comprehendeverything I talked to him about his vehicle. I told [redacted] he was welcome to wait but the job would be 4-5 hoursor I could give him a ride home. He said he'd like a ride and then his daughter would probably bring him backto pick up his vehicle, after I called when it was ready. I ordered the parts, told the technician to do the repairwork and drove [redacted] home.Later that day his daughter brought [redacted] back to pick up his car. When she asked for the old parts, I told her Ihad everything except the two brake rotors that we had put in our scrap metal container. This had been pickedup that afternoon. The brake calipers are remanufactured and a core charge is applied if they are not returned tothe parts store. I showed them to her but said if she wanted to take them I would have to charge the additionalcore charge fee of$250.00 I said I could refund this upon return of the calipers. She said forget it, she wouldspeak to her husband. Shortly after that [redacted]'s daughter and son-in-law returned to my shop very irate. Theywanted all the parts and paid the core charge for the brake calipers. They took the parts, with the exception ofone front rotor and one rear brake rotor which had gone to the scrap yard. Later they called me and said afamily member said the parts were all fine and wanted the money back for the work completed.I would have been happy to talk to any family member about the repairs needed for [redacted]'s vehicle. I had noreason to believe he could not make a good decision regarding his vehicle. I do know that the stopping distancewas greatly increased by the condition of his brake system and think he made a wise decision, although hisfamily may have done things differently. I feel all recommended repairs to [redacted]'s vehicle were important forhis brake system to work properly. I stand behlnd all the repairs completed.I myself am 63 years old and have a father-in-law who will be 90 in 2 months and is fully capable of makingdecisions. He makes better decisions then most people of any age, drives daily and I would have recommendedthis same work to him if he had this braking condition that [redacted] had. I absolutely would not take advantage ofany elderly person or anyone of any age! I would not have stayed in business this long ifi did.Floyd H[redacted]Owner OperatorRevdex.com ID [redacted]
