In late 2016, contacted Dewar Electric Ltd to hook up an automatic transfer switch direct to meter for our new generator.
Dewar installed it on January 18, 2017 and he was paid by cheque. He deposited and cleared the cheque the same day for $1,725.
The second time we used the system, it failed. He removed the system and said he returned it as it was under warranty. He then installed a "new system" in our house. We feel he did not return the original *** system, and reinstalled our old transfer switch.
It wasn't used for approximately a year as we had no power outages. When we tried using it in the late fall of 2017, the "new" system did not work.
He then removed the switch and cord and was going to install a temporary manual transfer switch that he would have to order. Didn't hear from him for months.
During a power outage/snowstorm in the winter of 2018, we contacted him again and he came to the house and ran a wire from the front of the box, inside our house, that we had to run out an open window (then stuff the window with blankets to prevent snow from coming in the house) to our generator.
The important issue here is that when the house has normal power, that wire is LIVE. So he suggested we put a rubber glove on it to be safe. So we have been living with a live wire covered by a rubber glove in our house for approximately a year now.
We again contacted him on Sept 11, 2019, to remind him that we still had a live wire in the house and needed it replaced. He promised (again) he would install a different, brand new system the following week. Nothing.
I phoned him Monday, Oct 21, 2019 for an update. He said the system was backordered until April 2020. We asked for a refund, He said he didn't have any money and was waiting for a $30,000 payment for a job they had just completed and he would pay us then.
WE ARE TIRED OF WAITING, LIES AND UNRETURNED MESSAGES AND CALLS AND WANT OUR MONEY BACK.
We also reported the company to the

The system came with a one year warranty. It ws

installed in January 18, 2017. The failure of

the system was on its second time being used , a couple of months later, but 100% within the year warranty. Mr Dewar came

and unhooked the system and specifically told us that he was returning it for a new one , as IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY!! He then told us they new system was on backorder. During this year warranty period, he was at our house at least 3 times and twice tried to install the system.
