D.H. Moore & Reviews (1)

Review: I had a new roof (rubber roof) installed on my home in November 2009. In October 2011 the roof began leaking and I had water coming through the kitchen of my home. My daughter telephoned Mr. Moore and he stated that he was very busy, but he would be at my home within the following three days. Mr. Moore did not show and was contacted again, which I believe occured in November 2011. He again apologized and said he didn't forget, but he couldn't remember the customer that called. Mr. Moore did not show at my home nor did he return any of my daughter's telephone calls. In April / May 2014, my roof began leaking in several rooms of my home. Currently, I have five rooms which have damaged ceilings. My daughter ([redacted], ###-###-####) contacted Mr. Moore and left several messages for him. After the third message, Mr. Moore telephoned me and left a message stating he was sending two of his employees to look at my roof. He apologized several times and said, his wife was going to kill him for not taking care of this sooner, as she also reminded him several times. He clearly acknowledged his lack of follow through and my multiple attempts to contact him. I did save the message in case this goes to litigation. A few days later, two employees came to my home and went on the roof. They stated the roof was likely leaking because the drains were too small and should have been replaced with larger drains when they installed the roof. They stated they would return and place "strips" on the roof to assist with forcing the water into the drains. They stated they would talk with Mr. Moore and he would be in contact with me. Mr. Moore did not contact me and after a few days my daughter again contacted him. My daughte left a message for Mr. Moore indicating there were larger drains on the back of my roof, which HE replaced with a smaller drain. When this occured, my late husband addressed it with him, as my husband knew a larger drain was needed on the roof. At that time, Mr. Moore stated, "You'll never have to worry about this roof for the rest of your life." My neighbors can also attest it was Mr. Moore that replaced the drains. My daughter told Mr. Moore she expected him to resolve the issue as this was ruining several rooms in my home. Again, no return telephone call. My daughter left additional messages for Mr. Moore, but again, no response. My daughter telephoned again and spoke to Mr. Moore's wife and she stated she would give him the message. My daughter explained the situation and Mr. Moore's lack of response and she indicated she was unaware of the problem. She stated she would place a note on the top of his desk, but again, no response. A few days later my daughter telephoned Mr. Moore from a different telephone number and he answered the telephone. He stated he was going to send his employees back to my home on June 17, 2014. He further stated they had ideas on how to correct the problem and would address it with my daughter. Mr. Moore was informed my daughter intended on filing a lawsuit against his business if this was not correcnted. On June 16, 2014, two workers came to my home, but did not go onto the roof. They stated the water was "pooling" on my roof and the problem was due to my roof being a flat roof. They stated the water pulled at the screws and caused them to come through the rubber. They stated water got into the seams which caused the insulation to deteriorate. They informed my daughter this was going to be a significnat issue if not resolved by the winter months. They further stated the roof was put on properly; however, they should have made a hole in the brick (along the top of my house) to allow the water to drain. When I questioned why this was not done when the roof was installed, they stated, "Mr. Moore always does this". They further stated, "He squeezes in these little jobs when we have a day open and that he should just stick to the commercial roofs because they don't have the time to do what is needed or resolve issues." They also stated, a special would have been needed from the City of Pottsville, whcih takes time. They further stated they had no idea why they were told to come to my home and said they would ask him to contact my daughter. They also suggested I contact my homeowners insurance, which I did not do as the damage was due to the roof. My daughter informed Mr. Moore's employess that she sought legal advice and wold file a lawsuit if Mr. Moore did not reposnd to her within the following three days. To date, Mr. Moore has not responded. His employee provided his personal cell phone and stated I could contact him, but he's not authorized the correct the problems. I asked if I could contact Firestone, the supplier of the roof material and they stated I would only be redirected to Mr. Moore. A few days after they left, I found a large bubble in the brick on the side of my home. The brick (approx. a nine foot area) needs to be replaced. I contacted a local masonary business and they are unsure if this is related to the roofing issues. They intend on removing the brick in the next few weeks and will then know the cause.Desired Settlement: I'm asking for the roof to be replaced or the payment to be returned (approx. $7,500). I'm also asking the ceilings in all five rooms be repaired. The ceiling on one room needs to be replaced. Should the brick work be due to the roof; I would ask Mr. Moore also be responsible for that cost.
