I would like all the information that I provided for [redacted] return to me. To prevent identity theft.[redacted] compiled a folder of my personal information. My social security number, bank account numbers and other very personal things. I had to send information over again and I feel uncomfortable with my file left around for any and everyone to see. My information is not safe, being that I had to provide some information more than once. I have asked them to return my information to me and they refused. They stated that they couldn't but they will keep it and put on a waiting list. It is my information that I gave and since it is not being used for what it was intended for, so I want my information return.[redacted] Apartment [redacted] contact person./////Desired SettlementReturn my personal information. All copies sent of destroyed. I want my original. I don't want my information sold. A spoke with them today regarding returning my information./////Business Response Please allow this letter to serve as a response to the complaint received in regards to [redacted] an applicant of Willow Creek Apartments, a tax credit apartment community. Ms. [redacted] first concern stated in the complaint was in regards to the additional information needed. Ms. [redacted] applied for an apartment on May 29, 2015. On the application, there is a section asking all applicants if they own real estate. Ms. [redacted] checked "no" for owning real estate. When her credit/criminal background was checked (standard procedure for all applicants), two mortgages were listed on her credit report. Because the information was not listed initially, the staff had to request the information regarding the mortgages as assets and income are two factors in determining eligibility at Willow Creek. Ms. [redacted] stated she was not aware of any mortgages but called back after about a week and said the mortgages were from her son as she co-signed on both loans. When the manager requested the required verification to determine the value of the real estate, addresses, etc., Ms. [redacted] stated her son would not be willing to provide the information to Willow Creek to further process her application. Ms. [redacted] withdrew her application on August 12, 2015. Ms. [redacted] second complaint stems from her concern over the safe-keeping of her personal information. Retaining all applications for three years is a policy incorporated by the property management company. Willow Creek Apartments will be more than happy to return the application and all documentation she provided to us, but the original documents must be kept on file at the property for the required three years. All files are locked and secure. The documents are not shared with anyone other than the managers, compliance staff, and regional manager. Neither [redacted] (Willow Creek manager) nor [redacted] (another manager mentioned in the complaint letter) recall Ms. [redacted] asking for her application or documentation to be returned to her. Consumer Response First, we are not concern regarding the application but the information on it. I co-signed one property and sent notification of the second property's Deed of release and full conveyance.This is my concern, that information is not kept safe or they would have that document.The policy of the company doesn't keep my information safe nor prevent identity theft. I don't want to worry for 3 years about my information. what happens after 3 years with the information. In three years how many people will have the keys to my information. I would like to have all my information destroyed or returned.
