office manager [redacted] advised me that I was cancelled as a patient due to non-payment of a bill. I did not receive any notification by mail or phone regarding a past due balance. I asked [redacted] where notices were mailed; but he refused to tell me. [redacted] rudely responded: it doesnt matter because nothing was returned to our office. I do not believe an answer to my question regarding where notices were mailed or what phone number they called should have been denied. I begged, and pleaded with Mr. [redacted] to not cancel me as Dr. [redacted] patient, explaining my 7 year history as her patient, but [redacted] just said it was too late and that Dr. [redacted] personally told him the office policy would not be changed for me and that I was permanently cancelled as her patient. I explained through correspondence to [redacted] office dated 4/27/2012; 4/23/2012; and 4/19/2012 that I had not received notification by mail or telephone about a past-due balance, and that I thought insurance had taken care of their bill due since I had not received any contact from their office. When I did become aware of a past-due balance on 4/18/2012, I immediately paid same in full leaving a $0 balance. The mistake of mailing my bills/personal information to an incorrect addressee at an incorrect address was made by [redacted] office. I explained that I had moved to a new address entering a Lease Agreement and completed a forwarding order. However, my forwarding order did not work with a piece of mail addressed to someone who was not me- leaving me unaware of a problem. I have tried to do everything I know to do to make this right including proving that my personal bills were mailed to the wrong addressee at the wrong address; paying my balance in full; having insurance re-submit claims; corresponding; etc. It is shocking that Dr. [redacted] would punish me by severing a 7 year doctor/patient relationship which involved treating me for a serious condition for a mistake made by her office- seems very cruel.
