I received a call this evening stating that I had not renewed my daughter's gift subscription to a particular magazine I informed her that instead of using the usual form, that I had gone online to see if by chance there was a senior's rate for me (and there was), so I renewed mine for two years and was almost certain that I had renewed my daughter's at the same timeI started to go through my credit card statements, but then thought this could take a while and wouldn't it be easier if I just called the magazine and askedI'm so glad I did When I told her I had received a call from DialAmerica about my subscription, she said they did not out-source their subscriptions to anyone and that I was lucky not to have shared any credit card information with themI asked her how they knew my daughter's name and my name and she said she did not know, but it had to be someone phishing BEWARE!!

After reviewing our files, I was able to determine that we canceled Mr [redacted] order for [redacted] on 8/8/He may have received another bill before the billing process was canceled.We initially contacted Mr [redacted] on behalf of our client, [redacted] , to see if he wanted to renew his subscription At the point of call, we would not have known that a renewal notice had been sent in.I apologize for any distress or inconveneince this may have cause Mr[redacted] .Please let me know if you need any additional information.Sincerely, [redacted] VPDialAmerica

Upon receipt of this complaint, I reviewed our calling files and was able to determine the following:We contacted Ms [redacted] on 8/27/regarding renewing her subscription to [redacted] magazineThe subscription offer was for issues of [redacted] magazine for a total of $- or installments of $each.As a quality assurance measure, we ask each customer if we can "record" the sales confirmationI listened to the confirmation and everything was done correctly and the order was processedThe agent mentioned that the call was from "Dailamerica" [redacted] magazine is one of our publisher clients I'm not sure her Ms [redacted] spoke with at***, but they did not give her accurate informationMs [redacted] mentioned she received a renewal notice from [redacted] magazine for a lower amountI'm not sure how many issues that offer was for - our offer is for issue, which would be for years since it is a "bi-monthly"magazine.At this time, I have canceled her subscriptionThere may be another bill in the mail, which can be discardedIn addition, I have added her phone number, ###-###-####, to our internal do-not-call-file.I sincerely apologize to Ms [redacted] for any distress or inconvenience our call may have caused herAlso, I would like to extend my condolences to her for the recent loss of her husband.Please let me know if you need any additional information.Sincerely, [redacted] , [redacted]
