Review: DIAMOND DUCT CALLED MY HOME (###-###-####) ON FRIDAY9/20 TO OFFER CHIMNEY CLEANING SERVICE FOR A PRICE OF $45. CLEANING SERVICE WAS COMPLETED ON 9/23 - BILL RECEIVED WAS $277. I TRIED TO CALL THEIR 800# IN REGARDS TO THE DIFFERENCE FROM QUOTE TO ACTUAL PRICE, NO ANSWER - THE NUMBER DIRECTS YOU TO A RANDOM VOICE MAIL. THE PERSON WHO CALLED ON FRIDAY CALLED FROM THE FOLLOWING NUMBER - ###-###-####. I checked this number out online and the below description came up when I did a google search. I also called the ###-###-####, and it is for the auto dealer, not the duct service provider:Received a call from this number. Caller ID listed it as "Diamond, Auto" but the call was for "Diamond Duct" cleaning. PA HIC ([redacted]) information places this business, license #[redacted], in Pittsburgh, PA and Lindenhurst, NY. (Note the business was registered on 5/25/2012.) The phone number listed on the HIC Web page for this company is [redacted], which is somewhere around Eastern Long Island, NY (Babylon, Brentwood, Brookhaven). The caller solicited for a chimney sweeping service, but the PA HIC Web site only lists them for central air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. I could not find a listing for Diamond Duct, Lindenhurst, NY at www.yellowpages.com. The Web site for the Village of Lindenhurst did not support online license lookup. (Apparently all licenses are issued at the local rather than state level.) Note caller left a callback number of ###-###-####, which is apparently out of NYC. A lookup on the NYC Web site for licensing shows no listing for Diamond Duct.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back as this was not the price I agreed to

Please for give my late response to our letter. Our main office is located in NY and t his was just received by our office. We did solicit a [redacted], who identified herself as the home owner to [redacted]. We did make an appointment to service her chimney for 9/23 between 8-11am.

The technician did do the chimney cleaning which is a $45 service as Ms [redacted] stated in her letter to you. The technician also advised and showed Ms. [redacted] that the stucco on her chimney had cracks and recommended water proofing at an estimate of $225 in addition to the $45 cleaning.

Upon Ms. [redacted] approval, the technician did perform the additional service of flashing the chimney at the top and bottom. After the technician performed the work Ms. [redacted] did sign the work order and paid the technichan by check in the amount of $277. After the technician left; Ms. [redacted] did call into the office, we did answer the phone. She stated she was not happy with the cost of the job. We explained to Ms. [redacted] we most certainly would work with her and brought the total cost of the job (the cleaning and the flashing) down to $219. We had the technician drive back to her home return her check for $277, draw up a new invoice with the reduced rate of $219 which Ms. [redacted]. did sign and she did issue another check to the technician in the amount of $219.
