Diamond Jim's Motor Cars Reviews (13)

Review: I made arrangements with sales man to purchase a 2002 Chevy Malibu, April 29, 2013. I test-drove the car, looked under the hood, and checked the tires. After looking at the tires (breaks), I asked him if the breaks could be checked due to the rust on the breaks that is easily seen from just looking at the breaks through the tire. He told me that the rust is most likely there because the car had sat for a little while and that rain will cause rust to form there. [redacted] told me that if I notice any problems with the car, I should let him know, bring it back and he would 'take care of it'. I also told him I noticed a squeaking noise, shocks or struts perhaps, in the rear and a rattling noise- muffler. Both [redacted] and the mechanic said they did not notice any noise when they drove the car. I have text messages in my phone, dated back to the Day After I bought the car, of me informing the salesman of problems with the car that needed to be fixed. The first issue they did fix was the over-heating, (within the first week of buying this car). My boyfriend came with me as witness to this situation. According to the mechanic, they just replaced the cover, which was the cause of the radiator leaking. I still have problems with the temp gauge rising when Im in a drive-thru for too long. In addition, the rental car they let me use while they fixed the issue, broke-down on me the same night they gave it to me. I had to lose time off work-pay, to help get that rental car back to them. I honestly do not think any of the vehicles go through proper inspection (of any kind) as they claim they do.On June 10, 2013, I requested off from work to take my car for emissions testing. I went to [redacted], since I know they are a reputable auto shop. The mechanic that (attempted) to conduct the emissions test said they would not be able to perform the test because the connector in the car is not working. The mechanic told me that when he connected their device to the connector in my car, no connection was made. He told me I need to go back to the dealership I bought the car from and have them fix this. Immediately, I went to Diamond Jims where I bought this car from. My father followed me to the dealership in his (dads) vehicle in case I needed a ride. This time, a different salesman assisted me. This salesman made photocopies of my emissions failure paper and a copy of the paper I need to present for emissions. I told this salesman I need this car to pass emissions within 3 days, due to my work hours, this is my only day off and the only day I would be able to take my car through the emissions. I told him I needed everything fixed for this car to pass the emissions. While I was waiting, as the salesman made the copies of the papers I brought in, there was an older man in a suit sitting at the opposite desk of where I was. I do not know his name, for all I know, he might have been the owner of the place! I dont know and dont care. This man heard me talking about the issues I am having with this car. At one point in the conversation, I asked this man, Do you guys ACTUALLY back-up the vehicles you all sell? IN OTHER WORDS: ARE THESE VECHLES ACTUALLY TESTED AS THE SIGN ON THE CAR STATES THEY ARE? Or do you all just take peoples money and not care what happens after customers drive off? This man told me: Well, when vehicles are tested, honestly, to test a vehicle, all ya really need to do is take the car round a block and the vehicle is tested. Everything is checked. OMG!!!!!! Seriously!!! I told this guy that I want everything that Ive been telling the salesman that is wrong with this car, fixed, and if this stuff cant be fixed, I want a new vehicle. For over $8,000, I should not have to put this kind of money into any vehicle within the first month or two! Especially is the car was inspected and according to the checklist on the car window, everything is GOOD (What a lie). The man says: Well, that may be an option, lets first see about getting these problems resolved first.I also reminded the salesman about the other problems that still exist. The next day, I called Diamond Jims, the salesman said that everything is fine (with the emissions) and that the car passed the emissions test. He also told me that wherever I took the car to to have the emissions test done, didnt know what they were doing. He said they ([redacted]) couldve fixed it (the connector in my car) themselves. My breaks have been squealing for about 2 months now. I drive over any bumps in the road, the rear-end of the car sounds horrible, actually sounds like the entire car is going to fall apart. My second car payment hasnt even came due yet, and the fuel pump went-out on the car two weeks ago! I sent the sales man an e-mail telling him something needs to be done with this car. Now the fuel pump went-out, I cant drive the car, yet I am making payments on a car that doesnt work. I still have not heard anything from anyone at Diamond Jims. Consider this: The only FIX options to correct this bad business1.I put $2,000 down on this car and financed the rest, and have had issues with this car the entire time.2.If these people actually CHECK the vehicles that they sell to customers, I would not be having any of these issues at this point.3.All the problems that exist with this car, which I have made salesmen aware of from the start, need to be fixed at their expense.4.If they do not want to fix the problems at their expense, then I want a different- fully inspected vehicle instead of this one. 5.Alternatively, I want my money back, cancel everything and take my business elsewhere, and find vehicles that are actually inspected, not lied and covered-up. 6.If I have to pay for all these repairs, I want the cost taken off the cost of the car; I want payments to be deducted from what I own on the car. MY PAYMENTS ARE $260/month plus Insurance. Problems: Fixed-Not Fixed1.Antifreeze leak: they fixed radiator cap.2.My boyfriend, my father, and I have told the saleDesired Settlement: Either fix all the issues at their cost with this 2002 Malibu or replace the vehicle with a fully inspected vehicle.

Car is in the shop again. It is overheating. Car did not pass emissions, 600 dollar repair. Car stereo did not work, 100.00 repair. Car is in the shop again overheating, and the rear tires are bald. I have no idea how much this repair will cost. The car was purchased in May.

Hey my name is [redacted] and Turk was great, honest and he worked great with me 100 thumbs ? Im to HAPPY with my lincoln town car thanks guys

Review: Okay about 6 months ago I purchased a camaro from diamond jims. I was required to take it in for emissions a little after owning the car. And the motor seized up due to a oil pump problem. I was given a chance to work with them on a price for a motor and I'll have to pay for labor. Well on top of that I never received a phone call about them finding a motor after I stopped in and talked to the manager. He tried to intimidate me by saying he will get a lawyer and didn't wanna show me previous repairs done to the car and safety inspection sheets. I did put a motor in on my own expense and I'm still battling with getting the car to pass emissions. I was clearly taken for granted and I want them to do something for me. I'm 23 years old getting a car shouldn't of been this much hassle. Yes it's used but you expect to have have a car running decent when u get it from from a dealer. Granted they never fixed my fuel gauge problem anyways. Basically I was scammed into buying a lemon and never realized it.Desired Settlement: I'm looking for you guys to help me out. I put so much money into repairs over 3 grand which is more than what the car is worth. I would appreciate if you guys can do a little something for me considering I am 23 and I'm not made of 20,000 dollars etc... I just want want a little help. This isn't a bash towards you guys. I just feel it be the right thing to do. I will be expecting a call and something that u can do for me. Thank you reach me at ###-###-#### or email me at anytime I would appreciate it [redacted]

Yesterday I finally picked up my 2005 Chevy Tahoe from Diamond Jim's. [redacted] was the sales professional that helped me with the purchase. My wife and I saw the truck when driving by and decided to stop and test drive it because it looked so good. We drove it and immediately fell in love with it. The experience was flawless and [redacted] made everything extremely simple. I would definitely recommend Diamond Jim's and especially [redacted] as the sales professional .I am very satisfied and will return again in the future to purchase another truck. Thank You Again T[redacted]!!!!

Review: I purchased a 2007 [redacted] MDX from Diamond Jim's on May 7th, 2014. The vehicle was for $16,995 which I believed to be a good price, for the miles based on the "Blue Book" value. I traded in my 2004 Nissan Maxima and had even gave them the money for the payoff in cash. I test drove the vehicle on a Saturday, looked it over and decided to make a purchase a few days later. On the day of the purchase, and after signing the documents and paying the dealer by check from my bank, I was informed that the car did not have the remote key. I was very disappointed, because this is a $17,000 car that does not have the "main" key, and only came with the "valet" key. (No keyless entry) First, this is something that should have been disclosed before signing over papers. I spoke with a mechanic after telling them that I noticed a check engine message in the car from March 2014 for an engine code. The mechanic advised me that they had a catalytic converter put on the car should run great. I was okay with this, however again, this too is something that should've been disclosed being that this is a potential emissions issue.

After driving the car for maybe 6 days, my check engine light came on. The dreaded codes popped back up and I was very upset. I only have until June 26th, 2014 to pass my emissions test. I contacted the dealership right away and was informed that the catalytic convertor was installed by [redacted] and that the part was under warranty and to contact that dealership. I called [redacted], and gave them my VIN number. They confirmed that they did indeed replace the catalytic convertor on my vehicle and that they DID NOT do a full vehicle diagnostic. They also went on to inform me that the part is under warranty, and that Diamond Jim's was not charged for this service. I have no idea why the parts person gave me that information because it had nothing to do with my problem. I was however alarmed that they did not do a full vehicle diagnostic on this car, especially considering that Diamond Jim's purchased this vehicle from an auction. This was very alarming to me because there is no telling what shape this vehicle was in prior to the auction or if this car had even been repo'd (which is my guess since it did not have the actual flip key that goes with the car)

I called the dealership back the next day and told them what [redacted] told me. I was advised by the sales person to speak with [redacted]. I sent [redacted] a text message and asked him to please follow up with me. After no response I called the dealership again (4th call) and spoke to [redacted]. He was very polite as usual and advised me that he just received my message. I told [redacted] what had been going on with the car and that I was very stressed out about this and that I would not be able to pass emissions. I asked him what can be done because I really need this car fixed. He told me that he would have to speak to [redacted] and that he would get back to me.

In the mean time, I took my vehicle to B & G auto repair and they did a diagnostic on my car. They said that I would need a new EGR valve and that the coils were full of carbon and clogged up. They also said that the reason the SH-AWD code were coming on is because of the emissions affecting the SH-AWD system. The service manager at B & G informed me that this was an issue the car had before I bought it and it is possible that the check engine light was just reset. They advised me also to take this truck back to the dealership for repairs and that I should not be responsible for these repairs. This was very disheartening for me and I again, called the dealership back and asked to speak to [redacted] the same day.

I spoke with [redacted], and told him the same thing I told [redacted] which was my check engine light and SH-AWD lights are on. However, I also advised [redacted] not [redacted] that I did take the vehicle to B&G auto. I told him about the light and that the code for the catalytic convertor was on and for another emissions vehicle. I told him also, that B & G did not say anything was wrong with the convertor but that the EGR valve was bad and there was a lot of carbon built up causing the check engine light to come on. [redacted] sounded very helpful and said that he would contact [redacted] because the "catalytic convertor" was under warrant. WAIT, that's not the problem. I said "[redacted], it's not the catalytic convertor." He replied, "I'm going to call [redacted] on Monday (this was on Friday mid-day) and get back to you on Monday no later than 1:00 p.m. Now I know that the service department is open until 6:00 p.m. on Friday and it is also open on Saturday but I was okay with waiting until Monday because I had faith that [redacted] would keep his word. He also said to me, "I'm not going to leave you out in the cold." I'm here on Tuesday, the day after Monday and it's 70 degrees but I'm still out in the cold. He never returned my call. What I did do however was take my vehicle to a shop and have the issue repaired for $215.00 This is completely unacceptable considering that I just finance $14,500 after getting $3500 for my 2004 Nissan Maxima that they are now selling for $7000 after being told that it wasn't even worth the $3500 they were giving me. Very disappointed, and even more so because when I first met [redacted] and [redacted] I thought that they were very honest and good people after reading positive reviews about Diamond Jim's online. I normally only purchase cars from Boucher and now I see why. I know that Boucher does a full diagnostic and inspection on their vehicles and they also do a very good job and the reconditioning of their used vehicles. This 2007 [redacted] MDX was a BUST. I found one with only 98,000 miles for a mere $500 more and I'm almost sure it did not need emissions work and came with the remote that goes to it. I feel ripped off, mislead, and lied to just to get money. My business meant nothing. I honestly believe [redacted] when he told me "If you have any issues with the car bring in back, and I'll take care of it". This did not happen. The buck was passed over and over and is worth nothing. I had a gut feeling not to buy from a used car dealer, but these guys did a good job making me feel good about my purchase until I purchased and now like I said I'm in the cold. Never again will I buy another vehicle from Diamond Jim's or refer someone to this dealership. I am a hard working mother of 4, with a good job and very good credit. I will definitely never ever purchase a car from this place or any other small dealer. They left a negative taste in my mouth and now I really don't even want this truck anymore. I can't even enjoy it because it doesn't feel safe to me anymore.Desired Settlement: It would only be fair for this dealership to refund me for the repair costs I had to pay for something they could have basically got done for free, according to [redacted]. I would also like them to purchase the actual key that goes to this vehicle since I can't remotely open and close my doors since this was not disclosed until after the papers were signed. For $16,995 you can at least do that since I'm pretty sure you will make a good profit from my 2004 Nissan Maxima that NEVER gave me an emissions issue or any issues for that matter other than the ones I disclosed to you.

In response to the complaint filed by [redacted]. We are in the process of reaching out to the customer to assure that there are no other outstanding issues. She was very pleasant to deal with so I am feeling like something got lost in translation here. I know we had offered to fix here vehicle at no cost to her and am not sure why she never ended up bringing it in to get serviced. In regards to her concern with the vehicle "Not being inspected" by [redacted], the vehicle was still most certainly inspected here at our facility by our mechanic. We are interested in full satisfaction of the customer. We have no problem meeting her request, but certainly felt her last comments in reference to trust and would like to earn that back.

My fiancé called the place Monday (Labor day) more than 10 times that day. Yes, they were open. Their website even said so. They opened at 8am. WE called at 8am. Nobody picked up the phone. I finally called one last time, and a man picked up the phone. I gave the phone to my fiancé and the guy on the phone told us to apply a credit loan application online and they will call tomorrow (which was Tuesday)about the car. So my fiancé called on Tuesday at 10am. The guy on the phone told my fiancé to call back later at 5:30pm to talk to the Credit Manager. I called at 5:40pm, and the guy on phone said to call a bit later, because he wasn't in work yet. So I called at 7pm. The guy on the phone said to call the next day (Wednesday) at 10am when the credit manager will be in. I said "But you told us to call a little bit later. Was the credit manager not suppose to work today?" The guy on the phone said "He had personal issues at home." On Wednesday my fiancé decided not to call them, but to go there instead. So we went there, and the car we wanted wasn't even there anymore! My fiancé asked the man who worked there what happened to the car we was looking for, and the man said they sold it already. My fiancé and I got really mad. If they sold it already why didn't tell us or call us that the car was bought already? We apply for the credit loan online on Monday, when the car wasn't bought already. If they would've called us on Tuesday, like how they was suppose to then we would've bought the car already.

Review: We told them an issue with the car before and they brushed it off. We purchased a car and in less than 12 hours the service engine light came on. We told them about the issue right away and then they acted like it wasn't anything. Then we received a letter asking for feed back and we told them how I satisfied I was and they offered to take back the car or even trade for another car. Every since then we tried to call leave them messages, and trying to get this resolved and have gotten no where. We are getting the run around and excuse after excuse. They are even hanging up on us.Desired Settlement: I would just like to get my money back like they have told us they were going to do.

Review: I bought a 2007 volkswagen Toureg January 7 2016. I noticed the check engine light on right away. They told me it wasn't an issue and that it was minor. I took the car for the emissions test and it failed due to the check engine light. I took the car into the dealership to fix the problem. They had my car 3 different dates. All together over 20 days with my car. They have yet to fix the car and keep giving me different excuses. As of right now they have my car and won't tell me where it is, all they said was it was taken to another place to fix it, but its been weeks and I have not gotten my car back, and they won't give me a rental to use while mine is being fixed, so I don't have car right now. I financed my car and they already paid the dealership for my car. Now it seems like they don't care to fix my car. My granddaughter spoke with the manager [redacted], who said the car is under warranty and will be fixed at no charge to me. I need to know when my car is going to be ready. Im tired of the excuses. They don't tell me anything regarding my car, no updates. I need my car to do things but Im not getting a straight answer. They have my car and I would like to know an exact day of when its going to be ready. They had enough time to fix it already and nothing has been done. I either want my car fixed asap or give me a different car with no issues. When I was interested in buying the car they told me it had no issues but that it has a 30 day warranty if anything goes wrong they fix it. Well they lied to me.Desired Settlement: I want my car to be fixed asap, or replace my car with a car without any issues. I spent a lot of money on this car for it to have no issues when I bought it.

Vehicle was purchased as is and was in good condition at the time of the sale. The check engine light did come on and after diagnostics was found to be the catalytic converter. An exhaust shop ordered it for us but the part takes a week to arrive. Cus[redacted]er's family called because his English isn't too good. We offered for him to come get the vehicle and drive until part arrived, but they said he didn't need it. He came in upset a few days later and we immediately picked up his SUV and gave it to him while we waited for the part as he requested. We agreed to have this $700 item installed at our expense in good faith. When the part arrived at the exhaust shop, he brought the car back, we took it there, they fixed it, we picked it up. While driving to the gas station to add fuel to his car, it stopped running. We paid to have it towed to a mechanic, they believe it needs an engine. Mr. [redacted] purchased a warranty and those details were provided to the repair shop. Repair shop stated the warranty company required the engine to be tore down for them to inspect. They wanted cash up front to begin that work.It is unfortunate that Mr. [redacted] has been without his vehicle, but we're doing our best to make it right for him without asking him to spend a bunch more money.

Review: I purchase a vehicle from Diamond Jim's on February 24,2015. A week later I notice leaks from the vehicle. So I took it to a macanic and he said I have several leaks that needs fixing. I call the car dealer and they said there's nothing they can do about it! After pDesired Settlement: I would like a replacement,or a full refund.

Review: Well recently I have purchased a car from Diamond Jims. I felt like it was a well trusted company and the people were awesome. Well I purchased a 2000 camaro. Within a a few days the check engine light was on and the fuel gauge wasnt working. So I called them and they fixed the problem. Sure enough the problem came back in a day or two the check engine light was on and the fuel gauge was going up and down. Also on that note I got a letter asking to do an emissions test. I was told I didnt need to, but when I went it failed twice on the emissions test and today it still didnt pass. Also last week the motor started shaking and the car turned off and I cant start it since. The window sticker with the cars health report was all checked no with problems. I feel like something should be done because this car is a lemon. I should of never had this many problems for buying a car from a dealer that you would think last a year or longer. Sure enough the car lasted 5 months. I just am upset and I like something done about this.Desired Settlement: I would like something to be done, refinanced, possibly cancel out the loan? Something needs to be done to where I can beneift from this. I got the car for 7 grand and you would expect it to last longer than 5 months. Especially when your in a loan agreement. Cause basically I'm paying for a car that I cant even run or benefit from/enjoy.

I purchased a 2008 Cadillac SRX on 3/11/16 and picked it up on 3/12/16. My sales person was Andrew. Long story short I drove the car the first couple of day and noticed that the wheel was pulling to one side. I immediately called Andrew and he instructed me to bring the car to the mechanic that they deal with to get a wheel alignment. Me doing that opened up another can of worms. The work could not be completed because the mechanic stated that there was a problems with the struts on the car. Again I called Andrew and he referred me to Harold ( Diamond Jim) mechanic. He stated that there was nothing wrong with the car but brakes and he would changed them for free. I got the car back and I was hearing the same noise so I the car to Midas and sadly was informed that what the first mechanic said was indeed correct and also found out that there was no oil in the car. I again call Andrew and Harold and they were not as welcoming this time around. Both stating that nothing was wrong with the car. So I took the car the Crest Cadillac and again was told the same problems existed. I then called to speak with the owner. I spoke with a man name Jim who stated that he was the owner and that I should take the car to The Caddy Shop for a second quote. I did that and not a surprise this time but yes they stated the yes the problems were still there. One last call to Andrew and I was treated very poorly him stating basically they were not going to be repairing anything and that he had already given me a free oil change and brakes. I asked him if you weren't going to do anything then why have me go to a 3rd place? I must remind you that the car had NO oil in it at all. But he is talking to me like he did me a favor. Again I asked for a owner got a different person on the phone this time explained everything and told that well you did buy a used a car but he will look into it and call me back. Well that was 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received a call back. I did purchase a used car but that doesn't give you the right to sell me a car that you know has over $2000.00 worth of repairs on top of the $9000.00 financed I have on it. In the end this is all my fault because I should have known better than to buy a car from such a shady place. So for anyone that is reading this review please spend your hard earned $ elsewhere.
