When he called to schedule the job, we asked him to measure the size of our skylite .? His response was that he has more than years of experience in this business, and he was sure that the size of our skylite is a "Standard Size"His intent was, from very beginning, to replace our skylite with a "STANDARD SIZE"My wife and I learned an important lesion, don't trust a contractor who is saying I've years of experience,"? ? ? ? In reference to your letter referencing the ID# above, there have been no inaccuracies on my behalfI know Mr*** would not have done the project if we had to shut down production from *** on standard size skylightsThe cost would have been at least double to manufacture a custom sized skylightThat would have cost more than the size we installed for him.I've installed many of these skylights which were not the exact size of existing skylights and they all needed some kind of interior trim (which we do not do) and never once had a complaint from those customers.We did exactly what our contract said we would provideSorry to Mr*** that he didn't read his contractWe are a reputable roofing company that has many awards for our workmanship, pricing and service.Mr*** is wasting our precious time and his in this matterLike I stated in our first response, most of the repair cost is from existing stain, sealing and repainting the entire bathroom ceiling from previous stains. -- Regards, Dave M***

Mr*** response has several inaccuracies in the description of eventsWhen we initially contacted Mr*** about replacing our skylight, he came to our home to provide an estimate. We clearly asked him if he needed to measure the size of our skylight to ensure that he could replace with an appropriately sized skylightHe told us that he did not need to measure the skylight since he has been in this business for years and knows that our skylight is a "standard" size.When he contacted us to schedule the work, we asked him again if the skylight should be measured prior to replacementHe again stated that the skylight required is standard sizeEven on the day the job was performed, Mr.*** work crew told us that the skylight they brought with them is larger than our skylight, and they were waiting for Mr.*** to come with the appropriately sized skylightMr*** then arrived and installed the skylight he brought with him. When he asked us to review his work, we noticed that a smaller skylight was installed and that a new base with several wooden 2x4's had been nailed to support the smaller skylightMr*** should have told us PRIOR TO installing the new skylight that the skylight he was installing is smaller than our skylight and will require a new base and the base will need additional carpentry & painting for finishing at additional cost. It is insulting for someone who considers himself to be a professional to call us "cheap"We are retired professionals and former business owners who worked for over years before retiring. A respectful professional would have informed us of the work he was about to do before he completed his work as we have the right, as customers, to be aware of and satisfied with the final productOur car mechanic would not install a part or perform additional work on our car without informing usWe should have received similar treatment from Mr***. He claimed to us that our skylight size is no longer manufacturedThis is, in fact, not true as we contacted "Lowe's" afterwords and they informed us that any skylight size can be manufactured with in 2-weeks if measurements are provided. Our inappropriately sized skylight will now require us to hire another contractor to fix and paint the supporting base at additional cost to us because Mr*** did not take a few moments to discuss what he was going to do and ramifications of his work for us.Regards,*** ***

To Whom It May Concern,After reading Mr*** letter to the Revdex.com, it amazes me how cheap people really are.The job was completed exactly how the estimate was written up to the customer.The original skylight was a little bit bigger than the one we installed, but no one makes that builder grade
bubble any longerWe chose the next closest size, which we installedWe also installed a 2" x 4" on each side so the skylight would not fall through the hole.I explained to Mrand Mrs***? why we did what we didThey accepted my explanation and I also explained to them they would have to hire a handyman to to finish off the inside(work we do not do).After talking to my handyman who charged the ***? $to finish off the interior, I was informed the majority of the cost was sealing the stains, priming the entire bathroom ceiling and painting the bathroom ceiling so everything would blend in togetherMost of the work was to hide existing stainsI have attached an estimate from *** *** *** ***, for your viewing.?
