Review: I received a quote on the price 3 weeks prior that was for $325. I was then quoted a price of $385 over the phone and told I could pick up the part after 2 pm on October 22. I arrived at 2:10 and there was nobody there. I waited 15 minutes and [redacted] came in from the back and said he was behind the building and didn't know I was there. I explained that I was there to pick up my part and he said they didn't have it. I explained that I had called earlier around 9:30 and gave all the information to get a new part (Dash Cluster). He said the boss must have talked to you I didn't. I started to say something and he cut me off and said it doesn't matter what you say its not changing anything, I don't have your part and I need your Vin number to get it. I went and got the vin number and he said he would pick up and ship my part that night so that I would have it the following day. I saw my paper work on the wall from 3 weeks prior. And on the paper work was the original price on it. I again asked about the difference in price and he said he didn't know it wasn't his writing. On Oct. 23 I called at 8:30 to make sure they got it. [redacted] answered and said he got the part but wouldn't ship it till 2pm. He then called me back at 10:30 and wanted a credit card payment. I asked why nobody called and told me that they didn't get my part on the day they said they would and he said he didn't know he was just an employee. I asked to talk to the owner who supposedly was the one that talked to me the first time and told he wasn't around. I asked to have the owner call me back and get my credit card number and I was told " why don't you just give me the credit card number so I can ship this now and we can squash this issue". I didn't want to argue anymore with him so I gave him my Credit card info so I can get my part sent to me. This employee [redacted] was very short and rude with me on both occasions that I had to deal with him and he refused to let me talk to the owner.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the first quoted price of $325. I drove 112 miles round trip to be told that they never bothered to go and get my part. And that the price was raised, and told that "prices went up" to $385. And an apology would be nice for never being called in advance that they didn't get my part, not to mention the rude employee who eventually did take care of getting the part.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr. [redacted]s complaint filed to the Revdex.com #[redacted]

I will start by adding some important details left out of Mr. [redacted]s complaint.

The instrument cluster that we quoted for rebuild at $325.00, was damaged beyond repair prior to coming to us.

2.Mr. [redacted] agreed to a replacement cluster as well as the price difference before it was ordered.

Only upon ordering the new cluster, did we find that his original part was not correct for the vehicle. The part number has to be compatible with the vehicle ID number. This system of ordering works to assure the correct part for the vehicle.

If his original cluster would have been rebuilt (as quoted) He would have paid $325 for a repair that would not have worked properly.

When the correct cluster was determined and ordered it still had to be programmed with miles and hours. This set us back 'time wise' but we felt we could still meet the 2:00 time frame. By the time we realized we were not going to meet the deadline, it was already shortly after 2:00 and Mr. [redacted] was standing in the shop.

Given all the hurdles and changes to this job, we believed that we could deliver the new cluster in the time given. Unfortunately it did not happen and we offered to ship the cluster to him free of charge the next day so he did not have to come back – he declined.

We apologize for not meeting the deadline, but as far as the price change, we were all on the same page.

There are 3 of us in the shop that can all take payment and are capable of running a credit card machine. On the day it was paid for I was not in the shop to do it personally. I am happy that the instrument cluster we supplied is working properly as we have had no complaint otherwise.

I took my 1958 corvette for repair of the tach and speedometer. I was very happy with the work; both are working great.
