This is in response to a complaint submitted to your office ID #***. In response to the part of the complaint regarding the apartment being finished on time, it was move in ready on the date promised 9/29/There were a few small items that needed to be finished, however nothing that
prevented the tenant from moving in on the date she requestedThe items that needed finishing were pegs in kitchen cupboards so that the shelves could be put in, hooking up hose for dishwasher, and the tenant requested an additional cabinet installed in the bathroom all of which were taken care of in a timely mannerI have numerous emails between us and the tenant, *** ***All of which in she was appreciative and expressed thanks for everything. Regarding her $Coach bag, she emailed us on 11/5/and we responded verbally within hrs and again via email on 11/13/(not over a month later like stated in complaint)Our workers were working in a different unit in a different part of the house at that time and were not painting or using any paint supplies of any kind when she claims her purse was ruined by usIt is clearly stated on page of tenant's lease that we suggest having renters insurance on personal property and personal liability and that the landlord is not responsible for loss or damagesAfter this point the tenant, *** ***, became and continues to be extremely rude and insulting to all of us, both over the phone and via emailWe gave her the option of ending her lease early as she seemed unhappy living thereIn an email dated January 10, she said "I think I may take Steve up on ending my lease early because this is not working''. I would also like to mention that one day a co-worker and myself were at the property checking keys for a new tenant who hadn't moved in yet (the door to that unit is directly on the other side of a back door to this tenant's apartment) there was a very distinct and strong smell of marijuana coming from this unitWhen the tenant, *** *** was confronted about this she claimed not to know anything about it and said it was probably cigarettesThere were no other tenants living in the house at this time and like we said it was a very distinct odorWe do not tolerate drug use by our tenantsand will proceed with a police search and eviction if this occurs again.
