Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2013/07/19) */

The ridge vent was installed properly, back in 2006. The severe snow and rain storms of the last two years, have breached the water protection properties of the ridge vent. House location is a high wind area, which is a contributing factor in the breach of the ridge vent. This evaluation is accurate, because the ridge vent did not lead, initially in 2006. It took at least 5 years, to leak, whick coincides with the first of many severe snow and rain storms. A suggestion to eliminate the ridge vent has been proposed. If accepted, the ridge vent will be eliminated. The attic will then need to be monitored, by owner, to ensure no other leaks occur. Homeowner will then notify DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding, Inc., and the ceilings will be painted.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2013/08/05) */

Here is a copy of my letter sent to the Revdex.com on 7/29/13. It was submitted on this same form & I checked the box stating I did not accept the settlement offered. Letter follows:The suggestion to eliminate the ridge vent is not a solution. It should be replaced & not elimimated. Shingles selected were for "high wind area" per advice from sales rep @ contract signing..He also stressed the importance of ridge vents"to protect attic from damage caused by excessive heat in summer & moisture in winter. Vents are designed to provide exceptional protection & enhanced ventilation. The sales rep did not state the the contract was void if we had many severe snow & rain storms. If removed, attic ventilation will be nil. My contract is for 30 yrs. & also had been given an Everlasting

warranty. What good are these pieces of paper if you don't abide by them? Shingles were replaced in 07. There obviosly is some defect if there were 3 more episodes after the ridge was replaced. It should not be my responsibility to monitor my attic to insure no other leaks occur. DiGiori should be accountable for determining why water came thru attic & into living area on the 2nd occurance when it was obvious the ridge vent did not solve the problem. [redacted] brought a garbage bag full of snow from the attic on the 1st occurance. He used his hands to put snow in bag. He did not remove all of the snow nor suggest someone for snow removal. I strongly feel that DiGiorgi exhibited a lack of interest by not returning my many phone calls, ignorning calls when told there were more leaks, & scheduling appointments & does not call or show as scheduled. Why should I be obligated to pay for damages to interior of home due to destruction caused by roof? Interior damage is not only to ceilings but cracks in walls, needed dry well repairs, insulation replacement, carpets buckled7 cleaning is needed. If requested, I will send you a copy of all needed repairs that was completed by a professional.

Thank You

Business Response /* (1000, 18, 2013/09/11) */

DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding, Inc., installs about 10,000 feet of ridge vent per year, conservatively. Leak reports, originating from the ridge vent, have never been reported, in normal conditions. Needless to say, the severe snow storms of 2011, and 2013, were so severe, that the capabilities of the roofing products were breached, is some cases. DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding, Inc., did receive some calls of snow in the attics, during these snow storms. These severe storms were classified as "An Act Of God". Any damage caused be the snow storms were covered by homeowner's insurance policies. Since these severe snow storms, DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding, Inc., has not received one leak call, regarding the ridge vent. The ridge vent in question was installed properly, and to manufacturers standards. Any claims for interior damage repair costs must be submitted to homeowner's insurance.

Review: Put a deposit down to have gutters installed and the said they would call to schedule. Waited several weeks and had to call and was told they would schedule the install and never called. I called them again and said I want my refund and am waiting for that. I choose this company based on the Revdex.com rating. I am disgusted with the lack of service and consideration. Very poor business management.Desired Settlement: Refund of deposit.

Business

Response:

I regret that the customer has decided to cancel the gutter installation. The time frame for the installation was well within the stipulated lead time given upon signing of the contract. In an attempt to schedule the installation we called on Thursday 9/10, and at that time were asked by the customers daughter to cancel the job and return the deposit. Accordingly a check is being processed and will be mailed no later than tomorrow, 9/15. Thank you

Sincerely,

Review: in APRIL I called them about stains on 4 of my ceilings in my house from leaking roof. they sent a man out to inspect it and agreed to have their painter paint my ceilings because of ice jams in the winter. he said that there was nothing wrong with the roof, but why the leaks. well 3 weeks later I called because of not hearing from them. so they sent some one over to take pictures of the complaints and said that he would be back in 2 weeks to paint the ceilings. well it is now 08/09/2015 and still no painting of my ceilings and no contact from them. I feel like I got the run around and they were hoping that I would go away. I wont. im a [redacted] who is home all day so I have time to wait. I feel that I have waited long enough for this problem to be corrected.Desired Settlement: do what they said they would do and find out why it happened and correct it. roof still under warranty.

Business

Response:

We acknowledge that the stains exist and as stated, were the result of ice damming and not from any defect in the roof and will be repaired at no cost to Mr. [redacted]. We also agree that it's been a considerable amount of time since our initial inspection, however be advised that we don't do that type of work and consequently the repair will be done by a local painter contractor. Accordingly we have contacted our painter again and asked that he prioritize the repair. We will be following up with our painter to assure he gets to the repair soon.Thank you

DiGiorgi just completed a new roof and gutters to our home. The whole experience was stress free and delightful. The sales person was professional and very knowledgeable. The product and work crew arrived at our home on time and worked from 7am to 9:30 pm. They returned the following day to complete the job and finish the clean up. The workmanship was excellent. We would very highly recommend DiGiorgi.

Review: Company installed doors and windows in my home. One door has leaked since it was installed. Company now is uncertain what to do about it. They now are not answering my calls. We were told this would not happen and that the door would not leak as it cost over three thousand per door. Would like the situation to be fixed and resolved .

Product_Or_Service: [redacted] fiberglass exterior doorDesired Settlement: We only want to come to an agreement on fixing the problem. The door should not leak. If the Revdex.com can not help I will hire an attorney.

Our company installed three [redacted] entry doors for [redacted] in 2011. Since then we have performed minor service when called upon twice in 2012 and once in 2011.Sometime in late 2012 or early 2013 we received a call concerning one of the doors was letting water into the home. Early in 2013 we went out and performed an extensive search into what may be causing the problem. We removed siding, trim, flashing and caulking all of which we did not install opriginally to attempt to solve the problem. Since then the problem has reoccured and we had told [redacted] that we would try again to fix the problembut we were at a loss to as what is the cause. At that time he contacted the Revdex.com. We will schedule another site visit with the door manufactures representative in the very near future

[redacted],

I have heard nothing further since I indicated my choice in the complaint. Could you please give me an idea on how to proceed.

Thank you,

Business

Response:

It is my understanding that we are going to install a new storm over the entrance door in question. We have also agreed to install a second storm door on another door for the sole purpose of having both entrances match. It has been agreed that both doors will be installed at no additional cost.

As of this response both doors were ordered and should be delivered by the end of the week. It is our intention to have both doors installed no later than by the week ending September 20th.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me on the condition that the doors are the correct model with screens and are installed properly. This should be done in September of 2013.

Sincerely,

Review: I had Digiorgi roofing and siding install vinyl siding on my house. This was done in the summer of 2012. In my contract it specified proper soffit ventilation would be done. Soon after installation I started to have concerns that this was not done. Being that it was covered by vinyl I had no way to prove this. This started a months long series of emails to [redacted], Regional manager. He assured me that everything was done above industry standards. He then went on to state the cost and amount of work it would entail in order to expose the soffit and check it for ventilation holes. His lack of interest in this temporarily stopped me from pursuing the issue. All winter I thought about this possible installation error. I again contacted [redacted] and again he could have cared less. In the spring of 2013 I purchased a digital 2 meter boroscope so I could look at and record the soffit by way of my attic. This cost me almost $500.00 out of my pocket. I then recorded my soffit inspection. I contacted [redacted] to show him the inspection video. After we reviewed it he finally agreed to send his service technician to check it out. He came to inspect it in a timely manner. His inspection proved that the Digiorgi installers did not drill ventilation holes in my soffit before installation as stated in our contract. [redacted] confirmed the error and shortly thereafter the repairs were made. This was done without cost to me. Later in the summer I emailed [redacted] to see if I could be reimbursed for the approximately $500.00 cost incurred by me in order to prove their error. Mr [redacted]'s response was again lukewarm. Also since the conclusion of this problem I now have questions as to the installation of the foam insulation under the vinyl siding.Desired Settlement: I would like Digiorgi roofing and siding to reimburse me for the cost of the boroscope I purchased. I also would like a company representative to explain proper installation of the foam insulation. If It differs from how I believe the insulation was installed, I would expect Diigiorgi to remove a sufficient area of siding to check on the insulation installation. If it was not installed properly I would expect they would reinstall the insulation correctly.

Business

Response:

We will be contacting Mr. [redacted] shortly to set up a time to meet and address his concern regarding the installation of foam backer under his vinyl siding.

At the time of our meeting we will also discuss any reimbursement that he may or may not be entitled to receive.

Sincerely,

Review: From the moment the first crew arrived, for roofing and gutter replacement, swearing outside our windows to items broken by the crew and no notice to customer or repair/replacement offered, to wrong work done in areas that were clearly stated in the work order, to the company never arranging a final inspection and providing warranty paperwork as contracted (or providing a bill but 1 month later calling and asking where the money is) to finding the bottoms of all downspouts from gutters in my yard after being away during the first big rain storm since gutters put on, doing business with this company has been a disaster. There is more but I do not have the time or energy to list further. I have also put this all in writing to DiGiorgi. I initiated contact repeatedly through this debacle and spoke with the owner [redacted], multiple times. I am extremely dissatisfied that no compensation or discount was offered to try and correct the multitude of problems that occurred on this job (except to pay for satellite replacement $53.00, oh that no longer worked either). It has cost me hours and hours of time, damage to my things, damage to my yard, aggravation beyond belief and a complete lack of trust in the products I now have installed in my home.Desired Settlement: I would like compensation in the amount of 10% taken off total bill. Total was $9873.00 including roof and gutters. Currently all is paid less $1016.00. $1016.00 -$987.30 leaves a balance of $28.70. I would consider the matter resolved and pay the $28.70 immediately upon this agreement. I have saved photos, voice mails and documentation if needed to verify.

Response:

[redacted] went into contract with DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding Inc. to install a new roof and gutter system to her home and we completed 100% of the job according to that contract. Our company prides itself in trying to exceed customer expectations and we have a system in place that allows us to strive for perfection but the reality is that we are not perfect and in the process of completing the job some things did not go perfectly but we professionally and swiftly rectifyed any and all issues. I personally spoke with [redacted] several times during the course of the job and followed up on the few issues that were brought to my attention. We did install an additional downspout in the rear of the house that was not suppose to be there and we removed it the next day. We did get a service call last week reporting that the extensions attached to the bottom of the downspouts to carry the water away had fallen off and we permanently reattached them the following day. By the way the reason that we do not normally permanently attach them is so the homeowner can have the convienence of removing them when they need to like when they are cutting the grass. I was told that during the process of removing the existing roofing we had broken what I believe was a lawn ornament that is wy we offered to pay for the realligning of the sattelite dish which according to our contract we are not responsible for. The materials did arrive a day earlier than they should have. We were late in arranging for a final inspection of the job and the presenting of the invoice and warranty papers but that final inspection was completed and at that time I believe we were paid for the roofing portion of the job. As far as I know both the roof and gutters are functioning properly and even though the job did not go perfectly smooth we fullfilled the entire contact and there is no reason leagal or otherwise why we should not be paid in full. With that said if there was something that we broke or damaged I would be happy to discuss it with [redacted].

I am rejecting this response because:

I disagree with the response from the company. That this was a professional job is ridiculous. As stated in their response, no it did not go perfectly, far from that and to take no responsibility surprises me being the professional company DiGiorgi claims to be. In the initial paperwork with the contract is a "Welcome to DiGiorgi" letter with 4 bullet points of expectations from the company. Each one of those did not exceed the customers expectations as stated in the promise, but fell well below, All 4, out of four I am willing to dispute again if another letter to the company is needed to re-clarify the events. Also, in the yellow contract sheet the very first line states "protect all shrubs, plantings, decks and walks around perimeter of home" With triple exclamation points. I have video and photos of the first 5 minutes after setting up the "slide" for roof material to come off torn to shreds and all material piling up on all my landscaping . I was the one who notified the person standing in my backyard (this was happening in the front). No changes were made, they just continued and cleaned up later. I had left for work at that time. That is also when the lawn items were broken. Not sure when they tipped my grill over. How is this professional? As far as the satellite realignment Mr. DiGiorgi offered to pay the cost due to the "issues" I had had. By the way it was not a realignment. They had to replace due to damage. I was never, ever told "this is for the other items we broke.". Maybe the company thought that but it was never suggested to me. In the response letter Mr. DiGiogi states he personally spoke with me several times, this is true, all calls initiated by me or the gentleman who initially sold me the job because the first 2 to 3 times I contacted him. At that point I did not want to speak to anyone else except "the boss". As far as completing the job and functioning properly, if it was not for the customer bringing errors to the company's attention I am not sure what else would have happened. For example, my son had to remind them to put in the soffet vents at the end of the job as the crew was ready to leave stating the job was complete. Again, how is this professional? I can continue to get more particular, I just assumed since DiGiorgi already had a letter I turned over to an employee who came to my home to collect the money, there was no need. And the first letter through Revdex.com also explains. Lastly I would like to clarify about the extensions at the bottom of the downspouts. I would LOVE to be able to remove them each time the lawn is mowed and NO I did not want them permanently attached but what would be my choice if every time it rains they fall off. How is that functioning properly? I am still seeking a 10% discount on my total bill.

Sincerely,

Business
