Dear Revdex.com of Metro Houston,I reviewed Ms. [redacted] complaint and I contacted my employee Mr. [redacted] who not only enrolled Ms. [redacted] but also assisted her with her (phone call) request to cancel on December 18th.  Ms. [redacted] enrolled at [redacted] TITLE...

Boxing Club offers various membership types which includes a month to month option as well as a one year term agreement.  The one year term agreement has a lower monthly rate.  Ms. [redacted] elected to enroll under the one year term agreement. Under Texas State law there is a provision in the agreement that provides the customer three days to cancel the membership agreement and receive a 100% refund no questions asked.  Ms. [redacted] contacted the club on Friday December 18, 2015. Due to the fact that Ms. [redacted] contacted us after the three day time frame Mr. [redacted] informed her of all of her options.Ms. [redacted] stated as indicated in her complaint that she was informed that could not participate in the activity due to medical reasons.  Under the terms of the agreement the Franchisor does allow the member to terminate the agreement (with cause) for medical purposes but the Franchisor does require that the member provide written documentation/proof from his/her Doctor.  Unfortunately, this requirement was put in place not to make it difficult for the member to cancel but to protect the Franchisor from dishonesty in order to terminate the agreement.  As you can imagine, in this day and age we have seen and heard all kinds of stories.  We did inform Ms. [redacted] that another option would be to put her membership on hold until her medical condition improves but she elected not do so. Moreover, we provided her with the website/contact info to cancel her membership with cause: [redacted] On December 19, 2015, I personally contacted Mr. [redacted] and was directed to her voice mail.  I left her a message indicating my understanding of her complaint and shared with her that we would be happy to put her membership on hold or direct her to the applicable website where she can submit her cancellation request and send in the required documentation.  I also shared with her that it is not our business practice to enroll people with the intent of them not using our facilities. We have zero complaints on file with the Revdex.com for good reason.  We make every effort to be fair and exceed our customers expectations.  If you have any further questions please feel free to to reach me at 281-222-2458.   Kindest Regards,Jason S[redacted]Owner/FranchiseeTITLE Boxing Club

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
Hello,I tried using website before the submitting this complaint. I also called the owner yesterday and left a voicemail and today as well (3) times and it went straight to voicemail. I knew that I had to provide a doctor's note, that wasn't the issue. Here is what I happened. I told [redacted] that I had suffered an injury before signing up. He knew my condition, in my sign-up form I stated my condition as well, he said I should be fine and to perform within my comfort level. While working out, I felt a pinch and left early and while leaving I told [redacted] that I felt hurt. I went to my orthopedic surgeon and he told me that I might have suffered nerve damage and should stop my workout. This all happened within a 7 day period. I read my contract and was well aware of the clause. [redacted], I called on Friday and tried to cancel my membership using the medical release but got the run around. [redacted] told me he couldn't cancel the membership and I should call corporate. I called corporate and they told me they couldn't do anything and I should try the regional manager of Southwest region. I left a voicemail to that man. Then I called [redacted] again and asked for a different number, he gave me a number which brought back to the same lady who gave me the same answer that my club should cancel and refund my membership. So I called [redacted] again, who told me that I should use the website. He however didn't give me the website name. I had to call one last time for the name which he gave me. One thing he did mention is that I should freeze my membership till I could workout again. Which was the most ludicrous thing I have heard, I am a candidate for surgery and I don't want to do that, especially now. I have tried the website, which walks me through several clickable options but brings me back to a page which tells me to call the MISSOURI CITY CLUB! I am so confused. Like I have said, my doctor has provided me a note and I want my refund, I don't wish to deal with ambiguous people who can't direct me with the proper procedure. This is my first complaint against a business and it was only made because I got brushed off by everyone. There was no concrete answer, or determined steps or even a wait period discussed. Sign up was a breeze, but once I decided not to be a valued customer, my value diminished as well. My rebuttal to the lack of complaints against this institution is probably because people either lose heart or don't know that avenues such as these are available to them to maintain fair business practices. I would have been satisfied with answers but instead all I got was a convoluted trip down the rabbit hole. Please call me at [redacted] between the hours of 9 am - 5 pm and I will be more than happy to discuss this in person.
Regards,
[redacted]
