Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/03/20) */
ABC Roofing installed a new roof for the customer in August 2013. November of 2015 she called stating that the roof leaked. She asked us to come to find out what was going on and to fix the leak. Upon our inspection of the roof, we determined...

that the leak was coming from the two skylights in the living room. When we replaced her roof in 2013, we were not contracted to replace her existing skylights. After talking with the home owner and explaining that the leaks were from her old skylights, we told her we could replace the skylights and that should solve her leak issues. We stated that we were not liable for the interior damage because the leaks were not caused by our installation of the new roof, but because of the old skylights. We gave her the price to replace all three skylights but she told us to replace the two in the living room and declined to have the kitchen skylight replaced.
We then did a temporary repair to the skylights by tarring around them while waiting for the new skylights ordered. She said that stopped the current leaking. Once the skylights came in, we performed the work and invoiced the customer $2,100.00. When we asked the customer why we had not received payment, she replied that we should pay for all the damages to the interior of the house and even for the damage that occurred to the kitchen. The kitchen skylight was the one she declined to replace. That one leaked during the storms over the 23-26th of December. When we stated that we were not liable for those damages, she said she would try to have her insurance pay for everything. After she got ahold of them, she asked us to pay her deductible and she would pay the remainder of the invoice. We stated that we would not cover her deductible or the damages to the interior, but that we would go ahead and put our insurance on notice and tell them of the situation. The customer then told us she had a leak in the new skylights and wanted us to fix it. We told her we would be happy to fix any leak after she paid us for work that had been performed so far. The customer stated that if we were not going to pay her deductible then she would not pay us for ANY of the bill. After that, we told her once she paid for the work performed so far, we would fix any leaks that may be occurring on the new skylights. She said that she would take that as a refusal to for us do the repairs and she was going to hire another roofing company.
We at ABC Roofing would be more than willing to fix any leaks that may be occurring at the customer's house caused by the installation of the new skylights once we have been compensated for the work that has been performed so far for this customer.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/03/21) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The company's response is incomplete and untruthful. The leaks began in the fall of 2014 and the company took full responsibility for those leaks-paying for interior damages. I told them that I wouldn't pay them until they fixed the faulty installation of the skylights - I didn't say I would withhold the deductible. Since I filed my complaint, their insurance company has become involved and I believe that their insurance company will be paying for the damages.

They have not reimbursed me for damages nor have they repaired the faulty installation of the skylights. My insurance company has filed a claim against their insurance company, which is pending.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 29, 2016/04/14) */
We stand by what we previously said. The customer has repeatedly requested we pay her deductible and is being untruthful saying she hasn't. And as of today, our insurance company is not paying. She owes us $2,100 for work that she had us perform.
We stand by what we have previously stated. Everything we have stated is true and complete.
