Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/09/17) */
Hello,
We received your letter in reference to websites in the DIgitalTown network
The site is part of a free platform for high schools, originally developed in partnership with the NIAAA, the national association of Athletic Directors
Notifications to school ADs were sent out during August
The Company provides free administrative access to the sites with which the school can take editorial controlMs***, though not an Athletic Director, may also receive an admin login upon request
Sponsorship income is shared with participating schools
The Board of DigitalTown did also approve last week that the domains may be sold or leased to the school for a nominal fee
Please contact us in case of further questions
Regards,

This is a community site, not a school siteIt is designed for the community, and operated in partnership with the communityThe content that is used on this site is all believed to be in the public domain
School administration may
have editorial access to the site through an administrative login, which I am happy to send youThis login is normally given to the Athletic Director, which we did not have on file for the school
In the meantime, if there is specific objectionable content, please let us know and we'll complete an immediate review
I am following up in reference to the case # XXXXXXXXI have not heard anything further from the complainant following our communication to them on October 14, As of this time, no funds were collected from any sponsors for this siteThe school has not yet registered as an administrator but is free to do so at anytimeIt would appear that the IT Director was not aware of the site objective, and has since clarified the matter internally
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/10/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I understand that the intent behind the website was not malicious, however please take down the websiteAll of our local school districts were told to file reports, we sent letters home to parents and this came out on the news because all our local school districts have one of these sitesAt this point everyone has been told to not visit the sitePlease take the website down to avoid confusionsThank you

This is a community site for the community
However, as a courtesy to the school, we did allow them opt out of the program, and removed the siteThe school was also given the option of taking delivery of the domain at no cost, which as yet
they have declined to do,

This response just outlines the aspect that they took down the website initially after I requested it, but they are not honoring such "opt-out" requests from other school districtsI also have concerns about this company, DigitalTown, conducting themselves as a "community partner" to create fan pages for schools, when they do so WITHOUT permission of the district, won't remove them when requested, re-posting the sites after some time when they did remove it, and soliciting community dollars to support their writersThey are also attempting to sell demon dollars and school athletic merchandise without the consent of the school districtThis is called impersonation, and with the number of school districts who have called with the same problems we have experienced with digital town, but also not getting cooperation from digital town, I would prefer that this business be red flagged for their questionable practices and receive a low score from the Revdex.com

Administrative access to the site is freely available to the school.
