I am rejecting this response because: I don't know how you think you can conduct business in this manner of being a thief and a liar you knew there was problems with that vehicle tell me how that car could pass a smog inspection and be on your lot and you have no idea that it smokes for another thing as is with all faults you did not disclose the faults I don't see that anywhere on my paperwork I have reported you to the Department of Motor Vehicles for fraud investigation and I'm going to continue to push this matter also I'm going to contact the Local District Attorney's office I will be seeing you in small claims court

We are very sorry that there were unexpected expenses especially so early after the purchase of the vehicle We have reviewed all the documents supplied which are our standard sales document outlining that warranties were declined a day rescission period option was declined and furthermore showing the vehicle was sold as is with all faults We went over the buyers guide line by line wit h the customer and he acknowledged he understands that once he leaves he is responsible for this vehicle We had no knowledge of the issues presented by the customer and offered to assist in extending our prices to have work done at a local 3rd party Mechanic shop The customer furthermore declined our help and decided to take the more costly option of having the problem fixed on his own Unfortunately no credit or refund will be issued in this matter We hope you can finally start enjoying your new vehicle now that it is fixed

As Ms*** mentioned when she originally viewed the vehicle for sale prior to purchasing it we advised her of all the known issues with the vehicle however small or large that we were aware of. We also provided Ms*** with multiple warranty options which would have covered her in
cases such as this where she would not have been out any money. We also provide all of our customers any and all opportunities to have any vehicle on our lot inspected at any mechanic shop of their choosing prior to purchasing from us. Timing belts replacements are an important part of maintaining a vehicle and often times because its internal inside the vehicles engine and cannot be inspected without hours of labor they go by unnoticed until their is a problem. As a licensed dealership in the state of California we complied with all the rules, laws and regulations required of us and unfortunately unless their is any sign of timing belt failure such as noise or fault codes in the vehicles ECM which we do check for there is no cause for us to rip apart an engine. This is not a practice done at any dealership and is not part required of us to do. As Ms*** mentioned in her complaint she asked me if there is anything I would recommend she do and said I mentioned I would have engine oil changed before embarking on a long trip but what she did not mention is I advised her whenever purchasing a new vehicle because there is no way for us or her to know when and what scheduled maintenance has been done it is always a good idea to start out with all new fluids and oils as well as any maintenance options recommended to her by a mechanic shop that she feels comfortable in using. Although I feel awful that such an unforeseen failure of the timing belt caused damage to a perfectly good engine and car this could have really happened to anybody as a matter of fact it has happened to myself on a couple of occasions. I understand the cost can be devastating and unexpected but we cannot be held liable for we fulfilled all of our legal and moral obligations as pertaining to the sale of this vehicle. Ms*** traded in a Audi Allroad which she represented to be in excellent condition which I trusted she was telling the truth because she seemed like an honest young lady. The next day when we sent the vehicle to our smog shop it failed the inspection because the "check engine" light bulb was removed from the instrument cluster in efforts to mislead us into believing there was no fault codes present when in fact there was faults. Faults included torque converter, transmission, secondary air injection system, multiple lean codes caused by vacuum leaks in the turbo as well as codes for catalytic converter deficiencies all of which will cost in excess of $10,to fix which makes no sense for us to do which will result in us having the junk the vehicle. I only brought this to her attention when her father was accusing me of being dishonest with her otherwise I would have never mentioned anything for I take responsibility for not paying closer attention to the vehicle I purchased from her however illegal it is to tamper with a check engine light. As Ms*** attached to her complaint you'll find a contract cancellation option that would have given her days or miles to return the vehicle for any reason if she was not completely satisfied which was not used as well as a buyers guide in which it shows her declining to accept any warranty that would cover failure of her powertrain ie timing belt.. As well as a statement she sighed to purchase the vehicle "AS-IS" with all faults which has a section outlining failure of timing belts specifically. Ms*** we are greatly saddened that you experienced this break down with your vehicle but the reality of the matter is just as you did not know this was going to happen there was no way for us to have known either. We wish you the best and hope after you get your vehicle back on the road you enjoy it to the fullest

Dear Revdex.com,The customers accusations of our wrongdoing are provably false and slanderous. No compensation will be given. Furthermore our attorney has advised us we are within our rights to sue for defamation and libel since these accusations have been made public in 2 online sources and can be proven...

to be incorrect.  If this goes any further we will exercise this option to the full extent of the law. Thank you Direct Auto Outlet management

Here is everything I have including a video the repair receipt and contract says AS IS but he never disclosed any problems with car or I would have never bought it I sent the origanal add of the car where I found it on graigslist note where it says it runs fast and strong thats false and their was no check engine light when I bought it I dident notice any smoke when I test drove it he pulled the car around and it dident sit long enough to smoke we just drove off went around about 4 blocks and came back and we made a deal then I drove it home it was idleing in the drive way for around 4 to 5 minits then I noticed it puffing smoke then when you gave it gas it smoked alot then I had it towed about a week later to capital city BMW and they told me how much it would cost to fix and I had no choice but to fix it.

After going to a half dozen dealerships and dealing with the typical people a friend of mine told me about her experience at direct auto outlet and this caused me to check out this business for myself. an hour later I purchased a near spotless used car at a great price. I was treated very fairly and service was kind and friendly. I almost didn't go back due to a bad experience I had with a dealership next door but I'm glad I did. I highly recommend this place. thanks

Review: On November 26, 2014, I bought 2004 silver Volkswagon New Beetle Convertible from this dealership. Before buying, I asked if the car had any known issues or servicing that was needed, and I was told it needed an oil change and that the roof needed assistance when being lowered as well as some drooping it had that inhibited the rear window visibility. Though not happy that these things were not done beforehand, I agreed to sign the papers, as long as these were the only issues. A week later, having gotten an oil change and avoided using the roof, the battery died. After a jump, I drove it around for a while (to make sure it got charged) and parked it at home. By morning, the battery was dead again. Multiple charges and repeat experiences, led me to paying $199 for roadside service, during which I was informed that the "new" battery was actually used and faulty. The next day, I embarked on a long drive home; I made it halfway. My car broke down while driving on I-5 S as I approached the California Department of Agriculture Checkpoint in Hornbrook, CA. The kind people who worked there tried charging it (it wasn't the battery for once), and even let me warm up in their main office and got me a ride to the nearest town with a hotel. They allowed the car to stay there until I could arrange for a tow to a reputable repair shop, Finwall's Diagnostic Repair and Services in Yreka, CA. The original timing belt, which has a lifespan of 80,000 miles, was never replaced and broke after passing 122,000 miles. when they found out that the car was purchased less than a month before, they became suspicious of the dealer and told me to call him right away and ask him to pay for the repairs, which they believed he would. If not, they advised me to file a claim immediately with the Revdex.com. The dealer's exact words to me when I told him, "that's not my problem." My father tried to reason with him, but he did not care. All I want is a safe car, if he will not pay for the repairs, I am begging for a refund.Desired Settlement: I want the dealer to pay for the repairs for the car. I am not asking for reimbursement for the battery, roadside service, tow service, oil change, or any of the expenses that resulted from the car breaking down (hotel for the night, train ticket to get home, taxi to get to train). I am only asking for the dealer to pay for the current repairs that resulted from him selling a car with a timing belt that was supposed to be replaced over 42,000 miles ago. If he refuses, I want a refund and apology

I had a positive experience with this business after visiting many different car lots. I found the prices to be reasonable and under that of comparable cars on other lots. The owner does not negotiate his prices, but again the prices were well below that of other lots. My paperwork was handled expediously. The vehicle I purchased was very clean and runs great. I am very happy with my purchase.

Review: On 5-19-2014 We purchased a 2003 Jaguar S Type from Direct Auto Outlet on an AS IS contract & declined their 2 day return cancelation option. Later that day we noticed a squeaking noise from the front brakes & the pedal became soft. We decided to take it to [redacted] to have them check it out. There inspection found the rotors & pads were not serviceable. The rotors were cracking, all needed to be replaced as they were under the minimum requirements. We gave approval to replace the brakes, afterwards we were casually talking to the mechanic telling him we just purchase the car, at that time we were told the brakes fell below the minimum requirements by law. They then explained about the two front tires that were also below minimum requirements & should have been replaced This was also confirmed by [redacted] Tires. [redacted] Invoice explains conditions of the brakes. We had no idea about the rules regarding buying a used car from a dealership, we assumed it was our responsibility as our contract was AS IS. The next day our Air conditioner was not cooling as it should, we took it to [redacted], they discovered a leaking valve and Hoses and confirmed what [redacted] stated regarding the tires and brakes. We contacted [redacted], owner of Direct Auto Outlet, he said to bring the car in so he could look at it. [redacted] agreed the brakes & tires needed to be safe & offered us a refund at his cost $271.00 & 2 used tires we needed to go get installed. Our cost on Brakes were $726.00 & $250.00 for 2 tires. We declined, he insisted he was only responsible for what he would have paid for the brakes, & we should of given him a chance to make it right. We had no idea about the law in California & the minimum requirements on selling used cars, other wise we would of come to him first. We signed an AS IS contract. We were not going to his tire guy to have them put on used tires That was unexceptable. Per the Mechanics If the car was properly inspected we would not have spent the additional cost of $976.00Desired Settlement: We request that he refund us 726.00 to have the brakes done and 250.00 of the 500.00 we paid to get the tires replaced We feel this car should not of been put up for sale until the car was made safe by him.. if he would of changed the tires and brakes we would not of had to spend 976.00. Again if we would of known about the dealer requirements we would of just taken it to him to repair. its not our fault he sold us the car that way Thank you

Response:

When Mr. [redacted] first aproached us we Immediately asked him to bring his vehicle in so we can identify any and all concerns. Unfortuantely the brakes were already replaced prior to us having any knowledge of an issue so we could not verify this concern. The tires identified on the car were as follows: 3 tires had 80-90% tread remaining and 1 tire the front passenger side had been worn down more considerably on the inner portion. The inner portion of front right hand side tire even at the thinnest portion was not worn past the wear bar which would indicate the tire to be unsafe or illegal to work on or service (pictures attached) We are at first somewhat reluctant to pay out Mr. [redacted]s entire amount demanded because as I explained to Mr. [redacted] we were never given the oppertunity to handle the concerns because all the repairs had been made before this issue had been brought to our attention. We were willing to take Mr. [redacted]s word as for he seemed like an honerable person even though we had already checked the items he had expressed concerns about. We initially offered Mr. [redacted] a refund for what the entire brake job would have cost us to have perform by using [redacted] which is a licensed and ASE certified mechanic shop down the street from us. We also arranged for 2 replacement tires tires for Mr. [redacted]s vehicle to be installed free of charge to him but Mr. [redacted] did not accept any of our attempts for resolution. After Mr. [redacted] had filed this complaint with Revdex.com I reached out to him and through the course of several dozen emails was able to reach a resolution with him. We Settled for a total sum of $600 on 05/27/2014 at which time Mr. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] signed a settlement agreement at my office releasing us from any currenty or future claim or demand. (document attached.) Mr. [redacted] expressed to me his complete satisfaction with our agreement to settle for $600. Although its its difficult to please everybody we were pleased we were able to work this matter out within ourselves without any outside involvement.
