In reference to the complaint we have received from the consumer, we offer a 7-day trial for consumer's to receive their credit report at the discounted rate of $1.00. After the 7 days expire, the consumer is continued on...

a monthly membership that offers to monitor your credit file each business day for changes that may indicate potential identity theft. We watch for reported changes including new inquiries, new credit accounts, address changes and public record additions. When changes to your credit file occur, we alert you to review. This information is verified on the website before the consumer processes the trial order. They have 7 days to collect their credit report and discontinue the monthly membership and its services. Mrs. Yager originally ordered the trial on 07/23 for $1.00, her 7 days expired, and she was charged for the first recurring month on 07/31 at the discounted rate of $29.95. We received a call from the consumer on 08/02 to cancel the order and we notified her we will cancel the account from all further billing. All of this information is fully described in the terms and conditions. The consumer verified in the recorded phone call that she accepted and the call ended amicably. 
We were unaware of any further dissatisfaction until we received this complaint. Due to the nature of this complaint, we have issued a full refund of $29.95 for the consumer. She will receive an e-mail confirmation to verify and the refund may take three to seven business days to credit back.

Review: I used this service to obtain my credit score for the purpose of obtaining a loan. I went through the lender to get to their website. It stated I would pay $1 for it to be submitted to the lender and it was a one time charge. On 8/2/2014 I noticed a charge on my credit card from this company for $29.95. I called to inform them I only wanted my credit score sent one time to the lender for $1 but I did not want their service. The representative, [redacted], informed me he would cancel my service. I then asked him about a refund since I did not want their service and that the advertising on their website stated a one time charge of $1. I also asked him if the $29.95 was in advance of using the service and he stated yes. I then informed him I didn't want the service for the next month or at all so could I obtain a refund? He stated no he couldn't give me a refund. When I went directly to their website (versus through the lender website) it did state the terms after you paid the initial $1 but this disclaimer was not at the top when I went through the lenders website to get there. I feel their advertising is very misleading and it should state the terms at the top of the page no matter how you get to their site.Desired Settlement: Refund of $29.95
