Direct Energy - Ontario (Home Services)

Every hour on the radio you hear a commercial and you receive phone calls promoting Direct Energy Home services protection plan for furnaces. I responded to one of these phone calls and I was mistaken. They sell you and me the idea that you pay $15/months and all parts and labor in case of a furnace breakdown will be covered. After one year they increased to $25/month, Ok..I can live with that! They come every year for a "free" maintenance visit which you are entitled with this plan. IN this annual visit the technician informed me that the "heat exchange room" has a crack and must be exchanged. Immediately he turned the gas off, and put a red tag that this furnace is out of order and not safe to operate. Apparently they don't cover the labor on this part in particular which in the fine prints of an agreement I never had. They asked for $1100 labor to replace this part which is the heart of the furnace. Apparently I discovered the mafia of buying a new furnace, actually it cost like $1000 and they want to sell you that for 3-5 grands believe it or not. I got my quote outside of these glamorous companies that on the radio all day long and replaced my broken furnace with a brand new one for a little more than what they have quoted me to fix my old furnace...do your homework and never deal with this [redacted] company.
