Just because the DMA just now removed me from their list does not make everything all good since I have been on that list for the past years when I had not requested it
From an email printout I received from the DMA on April 11, 2003, it states I have been listed with the removal service since November 6,
Why have I been on this list for the past years since I had never requested to be on it in the first place? They were informed by me in April to remove my name from that list after I found they had me on itShortly after that, they assured me two times that I was removed from this listTheir website states the length of time anyone is on the list is yearsyears has cycled four times and I was never automatically removed from this list, or has someone resubmitted my name four times? The DMA has a lot of explaining to do

We do appreciate *** ***'s interest in receiving promotional mail offers, and regret any inconvience of him being on the Direct Marketing Association's Do-Not-Mail fileHe has been removed from our do-not-mail file
It is important to note that only our members are required to subscribe to this Do-Not-Mail file and only to be used to suppress prospective customersNonmembers are not required to subscribe to our suppression file; therefore, he should have and will continue to receive promotional mail from local companies/restaurants, political organizations and even companies that he has a business relationshipBeing on the file should not have affected *** ***'s promotional mail from companies/organizations that he's been a customer of or companies that do not subscribe to our serviceRegardless, he has been removed from the DMA Do Not Mail file
Unfortunately, we do not have an omail listIt might take several mail cycles for *** *** to see a difference in the volume of promotional mail offers he receives but he should see an uptick in promotional offersIf there are particular mailing lists that he would like to be added to then he can also contact those organizations/companies directly and ask to be added to their mailing listsThese requests can be made online, in writing or via the telephone in many cases
Again, we appreciate *** ***'s interest in receiving promotional mailWe hope we provided further clarification, and we consider the matter addressed

I have never requested to be on this list and never received an email stating I was on it. Had I received such an email, I would have requested for my name to be removed from this list as I did in April 2003 when I found out I was first fraudulently added to this list by mail on November 6, 2002. Another indication of fraudulent activity, I started receiving mail in the name of "[redacted]", of course there is no such person, nor has there ever been anyone named "[redacted]" at my address. "[redacted]" should stay on this list since no such person has ever existed, "[redacted]" should NEVER be on this list. I want a guarantee that I "[redacted]", "[redacted]", "[redacted]","[redacted]", "Current Resident", Occupant" or any other generic term for my address shall never be added to this list again. Any such request to do so will be fraudulent. A Police report will be filed if I am ever added to this list again.

Review: I e-mailed them and asked them to remove a person I keep getting mailings for which include, credit card offers, school service offers such as portraits etc.Desired Settlement: I am requesting dmachoice (remove [redacted]) from my home of 30 years address. I am concerned one day this person will get a secured credit card, max it out - then not pay for it and my home get a financial lean resulting from this person.

Response:

Thank you for forwarding the complaint from a consumer who is getting misdirected mail to their residence to the Direct Marketing Association. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.

The consumer can go online: www.dmachoice.org and register the misdirected name associated with their residence on our mail preference service. It is important to note that only member companies of the Direct Marketing Association are required to scrub their mailings to prospective consumers so this will not eliminate all mail that might be addressed to this unknown person only if the mail is coming from one of our members. The consumer can contact the company that is sending the mail piece and ask the source of where they obtained that name with their address and then contact the source and ask that this name/address be suppressed and no longer shared with other organizations.

For removal from pre-screened credit offers, then the consumer may contact Equifax, Experian and TransUnion Corporation individually using the contact information provided below. Or you can call 1-888-5OPT-OUT to reach the National Opt-Out Center Hotline established by the three credit bureaus to help consumers remove their names from pre-approved credit, insurance and other financial offers. However, I do not believe they can opt-out of pre-screened offers for other third parties. Here is the mailing addresses:
