Review: Direct Moving and Storage misplaced roughly 6-8 boxes of goods during our cross-country move. Among items missing are a 43" flat screen television, antique teak legs to dining room table, color printer, a wardrobe box containing winter coats, a sculpture. Other items including furniture (legs on living room chair and desk broken) and artwork (glass smashed over signed prints) were damaged during shipping. Numerous attempts, including phone calls and emails, to resolve this issue have been left unanswered.Desired Settlement: While we would prefer to have our items back, at this point we cannot wait any longer for a working dining room table, a television set, a color printer and have had to purchase replacements. Nevertheless, if Direct Moving and Storage does recover our missing items, we are willing to forgo money damages.

Please see below:To Whom It May Concern,I would like to address the fact that I did try to resolve my customers issues.Although we moved the [redacted] family there was no additional insurance taken out.It is the standard 0.60 cents per pound per article.My goal is to make every move a smooth transaction and without intention of any damage or loss.My company strives on a 100%satisfaction.I do know we are under no obligation to pay any claim nor do we take any responsibility in this loss.We do feel bad about this incident so we are willing to compensate the [redacted] family $300 . I would also like to add that many times in many moves,even months later,we will follow up with a customer survey and we will usually get an occasional(we are missing an item) call. When we follow up the customer they will indicate that they have found the that item nine times out of ten.Hoping to resolve this issue.Sincerely , Direct Moving & Storage,Inc.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

There can not be any resolution for the vast amounts of lost items unless and until the business makes a real effort at locating the items that are missing. We contacted the business multiple times asking what steps it has taken in finding our goods. Because no steps were taken and because so many of our goods that were received were broken or damaged, we believe this is an instance of recklessness or gross negligence which is separate from the insurance coverage.We have confirmed personally with others who received items from the same truck that THEIR items were damaged or missing as well. In fact I watched as the movers were unloading the truck in California, the boxes stacked more than 10 feet high were literally collapsing on the movers inside the vehicle. It was a complete mess inside. Of note, w still have items that the movers gave to us that below to OTHER people along their route. When we informed the company of this, NO action was taken to collect these items from us and deliver them to the other families. We likewise are convinced that similarly no real efforts were made to locate our goods. This was reckless and negligent. [redacted]

I used this company twice. The second time they misplaced three items that wound up with someone elses belongings. The owner wrote me that he knew where they were and I would be getting them back in November, 2014. He never did return my items. I am now suing him in Small Claims Court. He never responded to the Revdex.com inquiry either.
