Just got engaged, was overwhelmed with the entire idea of planning a wedding, so I decided to go through with a planner to take the reigns. Lauren Tracy and I had chatted a few times through text, outside of a contract. Remember, this is a new bride to be who knows nothing about nothing with the entire wedding planning process. Before locking down into any type of contact, I wanted to make sure Lauren was the girl for me. *** assured me we could stay within my budget with my simple expectations of food/beverage for guests. She forwarded me over a few venues in Folly Beach I had already been in contact with and researched myself. A week or so later, she expressed to me she never does this outside of a contract- 'this? being, I assume throwing some texts back and forth. And asked if I would put down a small deposit and if I was unsatisfied or decided to change my mind, she would give full refund. That put me at ease.
I went ahead and gave her not just a small deposit, but the entire half of the Cinderella package, which was $2,000.
In this package listed on her website, it clearly states everything that they handle. When I say everything, it is everything. Ending the package description of how the Bride to be gets to sit back and relax. Including- calling and booking all vendors.
I sent over the deposit, let her know. She told me it takes 48hrs to hit her account. After her being aware deposit was sent, the first thing she tells me to do is to call and book my venue. I'm sitting there puzzled, thinking...isn't this your job? Didn't say anything. Rolled with it.
So then I'm asking her questions as to what I'm supposed to be telling them my budget is, etc, because her budget was included in the total price. Once again, why am I doing this when I just paid you 2,000$? She then goes on to tell me a budget and now we suddenly can not afford to serve dinner to guests, just appetizers, etc.
These were about 3 text messages after signing the contract, everything discussed before

Billing Adjustment was not in contract. I then got a funny feeling and told her I needed my refund back to put down on the venue. When in fact, this was not what I needed it for, my gut told me booking her as a planner was a bad idea if I was the one doing all planning. She stated she was going to refund it but keep $562 for her 2hrs of work. She did no work. We were not in contract. She suddenly states her charge is 200/hr- that is no where listed on her site. I want my $300 refund.

As I spoke with *** several times on the phone and had over 40 text messages to you before you even signed a contract. I spoke with her about the knowledge and information of booking a venue here in Charleston. As a new bride we understand that the process is overwhelming and can we lot to understand. With the Full Service package we not book the venue unless we have a credit card, a date, and you have spoken with the venue about your date being open. As many wedding locations have extra fees and we want you to know about those before you book them. We spoke about your vision and how to keep you in budget. You then decided on a May, Saturday wedding date and I told her before she booked with me. I then told her how much you were going to have left for DJ, photography, and catering. Being on a tight budget we can work with. I sent *** pictures of my work at my locations, and spots to look at. When *** decided to book she choose to put the 50 percent down. Not after 12 hours *** told me she decided to use the money you had for me towards the venue. I undertook and said I have to wait till it hits my bank before I can refund. You did sign a contract and maybe places have a 0 percentage return fee. I said it text that I would have to charge you for 2.5 hours of work that I had spent with you. You said thank you and that was it. The next day when I refunded the money. *** then said she wanted you wanted your full refund back. I said I would refund one of the hours plus the tax. Then *** told me you already emailed her lawyer. In every business we do not work for free. *** said several days later that comprising would be splitting down the middle or you would go to the Revdex.com. This is all forms of threatening me to do what you wanted. I then agreed to refund half as I did not want to make a fuss over this as I send the money that night. So the the next day *** wrote untrue reviews on 4 sites. . I never. I did not take your venue fee away as I was only given 250.00 dollars for hours of work. As normally I am 200.00 an hour. I am not thief as I refunded your whole 2000.00 except the 250.00 for my work that week. As I have all the texts that say if I did not give her $280.00 back she would report me to you. We then came to an agreement of $250.00 which I sent that night to her. So then finding out that she wrote this and all the reviews is ridiculous. I helped her for a week with over 40 text messages just from me. It is so said to me that people can write reviews that are untrue on your company that I work so hard to work to establish. Then you come to an agreement and *** still does what she said that she would not do. It was not my fault that she wanted to get married On a Saturday in May in the #1 wedding destination. I returned what we agreed and this should not have even been done. Its just wrong!
