to be a club with benefits warranting a continued membership fee despite no physical showroom.  They have offered to do a courtesy renewal of our membership come March 2016 to 2017.  However, this does not address the contract promise that once you are a paying member for 10 years you are a lifetime member without paying a yearly membership fee.If Direct Buy now DBA [redacted] would grant us our lifetime membership free from member fees for having no access to our showroom we would consider this a resolution to what has been an expensive "club".  We can tell that other members are not happy with this situation of the disappearing showroom as the company has mounted a monthly Town Hall" series of meetings to attempt to continue to underpin their members and membership.

Review: We purchased a contract with Direct Buy of Long Island February 2007 for initial sum of $4,500 for three year membership to a staffed showroom and on-line and exclusive purchasing experience where we renewed for each year $190.00 dollars plus tax; total $206.39 yearly to date. After 10 years of paid membership we would have no further membership fee for the privilege of continuing to shop through the showroom and on-line. We are a member in good standing for the entire time. We received a postmarked envelope dated 08/**/2015 from Direct Buy with no date on the enclosed letter stating they were closing their catalog showroom and as of 08/**/2015 and our membership was transferred to [redacted] and the physical showroom has ceased operations. This constitutes breach of contract. We were almost exclusively availed ourselves of the showroom. Now we are only "entitled" to on-line shopping for our exorbitant membership fees, which is just the same as if we shopped on-line with any other vendor who competes for your time and money in this age and DOES NOT CHARGE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. The letter goes on to say we can continue to visit any Direct Buy showroom. A check of where that closest showroom is is in Edison, New Jersey. We could easily shop manufactures outlets in and out of State without the exorbitant membership fees and promises if I wanted to travel for shopping savings. This is nothing more than bait and switch tactics, AND THEY ARE CUTTING AND RUNNING. Their claim that "more than 60% of members are now placing their orders online and at the same time visiting our club locations more than 50% less often". That's still a 50/50 ratio and we were in the showroom almost exclusively. We feel that without the showroom this contract is breached.Desired Settlement: We want a refund of our membership payments for breach of contract with the dissolution of the showroom experience promised which we utilized exclusively and which after 10 years would not have to pay a yearly fee.
