Please accept my apology for this misunderstandingWe send these letters to homeowners who are best suited to utilize our buying service as a way of introducing our companyWe actually purchase lists of homeowners, but unfortunately these lists are not 100% accurate, and that is probably why you received this promotionThe letter does also clearly state that " certain restrictions apply" to qualify for the gifts, and home ownership and incomes > $90,are among the qualificationsHowever, we will gladly give you the tablet and restaurant card that we identified in your letter since we sent you the letterJust call us at ###-###-#### and ask for [redacted] , our promotion manager, so that she can arrange a convenient time for you to come in and piyour gifts

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I called [redacted] and arranged with her a date/time to pick up the gifts (tablet and the gift card) and did so today.  I still believe that since the letter stated that I won with "CONGRATULATIONS" in big bold letters at the top of the page, there should have been no strings attached (i.e. answering a set amount of questions correctly before getting the gifts, which I failed to do with the first question of "Am I a homeowner?"), and if that was a misunderstanding on my part thinking that I won, then a person should not be congratulated on winning until that person actually gets the gifts in hand, otherwise it defeats the purpose of congratulating someone on winning, only to do a 180 degree flip and tell them that they didn't win.  This Revdex.com report could have been avoided altogether had I been given these gifts right from the start after making the first call to the specified phone # in the winning letter.  But I am happy that this was resolved as quickly as it was.

Review: In late June I went to Direct Buy (DB) of Edison to hear a presentation on their membership. After being there for hours I decided not to purchase the membership that day because I did not feel comfortable making such an impulsive decision. [redacted] offered me a temporary 30 day membership in which I could come back to their showroom anytime in the next 30 days and purchase items (up to $1000). This temp membership would give me a chance to utilize their facilities and become more familiar with the company so that I would feel comfortable purchasing the membership. I was told most people purchase a membership after having such wonderful experiences as trial members. On July 3 I went to DB of Edison and purchased a Coaster bed frame and lamp. My sales rep was[redacted]. I was told the estimated ship time for this manufacturer was 4-6 weeks. I signed a purchase order that stated my merchandise was promised for delivery on or before September 1, 2014. After that point I could cancel and get a full refund without penalty or choose delivery at a later date without penalty. My order did not include home delivery (which is an additional fee) as I was going to pick it up from the warehouse. Today is 8/29 and I have not gotten any update on my order. I called DB in July to get some idea of when my bed would be shipped [redacted] told me the manufacturer had not processed my order and that it may be shipped in mid-August. The first week of August I called and spoke with[redacted]. He said he had no update on my order and that he would check with the manufacturer. He called back stating the bed would not be here until the end of August. On 8/26 I called again and spoke with [redacted] as I still had not received any update. He said my bed had been shipped and it would be here on 8/28 but he did not have a tracking number. On 8/28 I called again and [redacted] said my bed was not there and he didn't know when it would arrive. He said he would call the warehouse in the morning.Desired Settlement: I have not received any update on my order. I was really disappointed with the level of non-professionalism and not getting any updates on my merchandise or even receiving a tracking number or shipping confirmation. The only time I ever got some information was because I contacted them. I was not told before ordering that I wouldn't get any information about my order. DB is closed on Sunday 8/31 and Monday 9/1 so in my understanding of the contract which states I am promised merchandise on or before 9/1 I would be promised my merchandise by Sat 8/30. As I have not received any update or confirmation of this I would like free delivery and set up of my bed once it does arrive. As I was not expecting my order to take so long to get here I no longer have access to a vehicle large enough to transport the order. I do not want to give DB anymore of my money to pay for delivery and set up and would like to be compensated in this way or I will need to cancel the order and receive a full refund.

Review: While I never dealt with DirectBuy of Edison before, I received in the mail what looked to be an official check to be used to redeem for a 7" Android tablet and $100 gift card for a restaurant (if called in the 72 hour time frame), if I was to call ###-###-#### for more details. At the top of the page that the check was part of, the big bold letters proudly proclaimed "CONGRATULATIONS". Well, as soon as I made that call and after listening to a lady give me a brief DB of E mission statement, she said that all I would have to do to receive the gifts is to attend one of their house shows. But first she had few questions for me. With the first one being "If I'm a home owner?". As soon as I said "no", she said 'I'm sorry, but this offer is only for those who are home owners" and then she apologized that I received this mailing. This type of Indian Giving needs to stop (my apologies to all the Indians out there). All they did with this B.S was dangle a carrot in front of me, just to yank it back. They certainly didn't win me over as a potential customer if that's what they were trying to do.Desired Settlement: If you tell someone they are getting gifts from you (no strings attached and it will cost you nothing), then make it happen. They should stop this sort of practice where they basically make it look like the gifts are yours only to then tell you that they made a mistake in offering them to you and you're not qualified to get them.
