Review: We first met [redacted] Dirks on March 9, 2014. We were looking for a lawyer to terminate parental rights of my son's biological father, and help us with my husband adopting my son. I signed and returned the agreement on March 16, 2014 (was mailed that day). Thursday March 19th. - Get a call saying that improper agreement was signed. That will have to be redone. I am told that I will get an email with the new agreement and receive a paper copy in the mail. NEVER RECEIVED either of these. Our check, for $5000 was cashed anyways.Tuesday March 31st. - I call numerous times throughout the day. The phone is NEVER answered. I try to use their directory to get back to the Secretary [redacted] that I talked to before. Their directory option doesnt work. It hangs up the call on you. I left a message in their general voicemail saying that we never received the paperwork, and weve noticed our check was cashed, saying we have no idea whats going on. Weds. April 1st. - They finally call. I told them that new paperwork was never received. I said we've been having second thoughts and have decided not to proceed. Tell them that we no longer wish to proceed. Secretary [redacted] said they needed that in writing. Email was sent. Was told [redacted] would review the email on Thursday. Never heard from them on Thursday. I was told we could change our minds and get our retainer back minus a $100 since a file had been set up.I said we were fine with that. Friday April 3rd. - Call at 8:45am to ask why I never heard anything. Secretary cant tell me whats going on. Says [redacted] will be in after lunch because shes in court all morning. Call again at 3:30pm. Im told [redacted] is in a meeting, secretary still doesnt know whats going on. Takes my number saying she will talk to [redacted] when she comes out of the meeting, and will call me back. I call again at 4:50pmknowing they close at 5pm. NO ANSWER. Was never called back. Leave a message stating we feel like we're getting the run around about retainer.Desired Settlement: We want our retainer back. [redacted] did nothing for our case. The proper agreement was never signed. We understand if we loose $100 for a "file being set up". Minimum refund we will accept is $4900.
